Abstract

Abstract

Abstract

This study is aimed at aims knowing the education and health quality of children of TKW families in Sindanglaka Village, Karangtengah District of Cianjur Regency and Juntinyuat Village, Juntinyuat District of Indramayu Regency. By using survey data of 56 and 48 households in Cianjur and Indramayu Regencies respectively, data is processed using the probit model. The variables used in this research are children academic reports, frequency of children suffering from illness, education expenditure, health expenditures, children ages, education levels of heads of households, children dependence, and family responsibilities. The results show that education expenditure, children ages, and education levels of heads of households have a significant effect on children education, while children health is influenced by the ages of children and family responsibility.

Abstract

Purpose of this study is to examine and analyze the consumption patterns of remittance recipient households using the Life Cycle Hypothesis (LCH) model. Using data from three periods of the IFLS (IFLS 2000, IFLS 2007 and IFLS 2014) and the decomposition of cohort and age effects on consumption, the results show that consumption behavior is not as described as in the LCH theory. The curve of average consumption-age in this remittance recipient household has a "hump shape" pattern.

Abstract

The study aims to analyze the determinants of labor productivity growth in the large and medium industrial sub-sectors in Indonesia related to changes in economic structure that lead to the dominant role of the industrial sector in national GDP formation. The data used are combined between cross-section from 62 large and medium industrial sub-sectors, and time series, during 1990-2014, which are divided into 5 sub-periods of research. The data includes value added, number of workers, FDI, and Wages. Data sources are the Central Bureau of Statistics, Bappenas, and the Ministry of Industry of the Republic of Indonesia. The analytical method used is the panel data regression model, using secondary data. The model is analyzed by estimating the Least Square Dummy Variable (LSDV) method. The results of the study show that: (1) Changes in the share of labor as a result of the process of reallocating labor between sub-sectors have a negative effect on labor productivity growth. (2) Determinants of labor productivity growth, in addition to changes in the share of labor: those are investment variables (capital deepening), both short and long-term, and FDI does not affect labor productivity growth, while wages have a significant positive effect.

Abstract

Cianjur and Bogor Regencies in West Java receive substantial Village Fund allocations but exhibit significant differences in IDM values. This study aims to analyze the contribution of village funds to Village SDGs achievement and their impact on IDM values in both regencies from 2018-2023, using mapping of village fund activity codes, panel data regression, and difference in differences (DiD). The results show that village fund activities in both regencies primarily support Village SDGs number 9 (Village Infrastructure and Innovation). However, in Cianjur, IDM is most influenced by activities in Village SDGs number 13, while in Bogor, SDGs number 16 has the greatest impact. DiD analysis reveals that implementing Village SDGs in Bogor is more effective than in Cianjur. These findings suggest that Village Government need to optimize IDM achievements through Village Fund activities depends on each village's characteristics, with a balanced focus beyond physical infrastructure being crucial for rural development.

Abstract

This study investigates the impact of personal capital, comprising education, ICT skills, and health, on female labor force participation (FLFP) in Indonesia, where FLFP remains low despite decades of economic growth. The research addresses a critical gap in understanding how individual human capital interacts with regional contexts to influence women’s participation in paid work. Using nationally representative data from the 2022 National Socioeconomic Survey, this study applies a probit regression model to estimate the probability of FLFP among working-age females, with separate analyses for urban and rural areas. Interaction terms are included to test whether ICT skills have greater effects at higher education levels. The results indicate that education exhibits a U-shaped relationship with FLFP. Marginal effect plots confirm this non-linear pattern, with participation lowest at mid-level education. When ICT is included, this negative effect is reduced, especially in urban areas, indicating that digital skills help enhance the value of education. Interaction plots show that ICT alone has little effect at low education levels but becomes increasingly beneficial as education levels rise, particularly in urban settings. Health, which encompasses physical, mental, and cognitive aspects, also has a significant positive impact on women’s participation. These findings suggest that policies should not only expand access to education and digital skills but also integrate health support to promote women’s employment. Enhancing digital infrastructure and tailoring interventions to local contexts may help reduce gender and regional gaps in FLFP.

Abstract

The allocation of fiscal transfer funds to archipelagic provinces is currently still smaller than non-archipelagic provinces in Indonesia. Its ocean area is larger than that of non-island provinces, and vice versa. Meanwhile, the allocation determination is still based on land area. This study aims to analyze the determinant variables of fiscal transfer disparities between the two groups of provinces, simulate island fiscal transfer funds (DTFK), and analyze their impact on regional inequality. This research uses a panel data model, involving 8 island provinces and 24 non-island provinces, during 2008-2017. This research period was adapted to the 2017 Islands Regional Bill. The results of the DTFK simulation contributed to increasing the DAU, DAK, and DBH of the island provinces. In effect, DAK and DBH reduce regional inequality, while DAU does not.
