Abstract

Religion, moral and ethics are institution which have the same learning wisdom value and justice. They undergo dialectic in daily life. Otherwise, dialectic result will never be meaningful without being connected with contextual problem, such as economy. This paper explores how the dialectic implication in economy activities is. There are 2 patterns of thinking. First, Al-Ghozali's pattern emphasizes on theology strength than reason, because it is based on Al- Qur'an and Hadist. This pattern is followed by Yusuf Qardhawi, Mustaq Ahmad and M. Quraish Shihab. Second, a pattern directed by E.Kant uses critical power and sharp analytical. This pattern is followed by Weber, Pratley and Rowland. For appearing the growth of epoch, both of the patterns need to be evolved in order to be more optimal in guiding further economy activities. However it is, economic progress needs knowledge and spiritual power.

Abstract

Sharia economy is one of the economic system, in addition to the other two systems namely capitalist and socialist. Although the socialist system is no longer popular at the global level, but in reality the Sharia Economy system is still outdone by the secularistic capitalist system. In practice, the capitalist system contains many weaknesses so that the world community began to look for other systems as a solution, namely sharia economy. In Indonesia the development system is relatively slow, so it is necessary to optimize the role of ulama and the function of local wisdom. This is the literature research with data sources from various literature and relevant issues. The results of the study show that with its authority, contemporary ulama can perform the role as a giver of fatwas, enlighteners, thinkers and economic actors. Enlightenment can be done through religious or educational events, while business practices can be conducted in pesantren by developing businesses, all of which are part and function of local wisdom.

Abstract

Toron or back to the village has been performed as a tradition among the Madurese with various reasons. In understanding the toron tradition which has been a lulture of its own, there is a question whether there are relationships between religious values, culture, and business ethics among the Madurese. This study uses qualitative approach and phenomenological method in order to be able to understand deeper on what the relationship among those three aspects, which can be apprehended from the toron tradition. The data were collected by using observations, in-depth interview, and documentation. The results show that among the students of Islamic boarding schools, the motive of doing toron in commemorating the Prophet’s birthday, is to honour the Prophet, and such celebration is just like a haul for the parents. It is expected that they will receive blessings and help from the Prophet. For those non learners of such boarding schools, it is just like a way (tawassul) to expiate a sin with an expectation to receive blessing from the Prophet. Due to that reason of commemoration, we can understand that there are relationships between religion, culture, and business ethics among the Madurese.

Abstract

The world has three existing economic systems, derived from human thinking product (science) and God’s word. The first leads to secular capitalist and soci-alist system, and the second leads to a transcendent sharia-based economy. In reality, the secular system is not able to provide a fair welfare. In fact, it often triggers human problems. In this matter, the only system able to provide solution is a system derived from God’s word. However, it is important to reveal and im-plement sharia thought from God’s word to make society knowing, under-standing, and applying it in their life. The study is a library research which data are collected using documentary method. The result of the study shows that al-Qardlâwî’s thinking is purely based on God’s word using mu’âmalah, fiqh, and akhlâq approach. Meanwhile, Chapra tries to cover how the work practice of con-ventional economy and compare it to Islamic system, and tries to offer solution using scientific approach and Islamic values. The relevance of both thinkings is that they are able to provide Islamic values in the economic development, which is lack of spiritual content.Copyright (c) 2016 by KARSA.
