Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan menelisik sikap mahasiswa Program Studi Sastra Inggris Universitas Komputer Indonesia terhadap Program Pembelajaran Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM). Fokus penelitian diberikan pada kompetensi spesifik dari dampak implementasi Program Pembelajaran MBKM. Membongkar isu terkait dampak program ini, penelitian menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif. Teknik pengumpulan data berupa observasi, survei, dan wawancara mendalam diterapkan pada tahap pengumpulan data, sedangkan teknik analisis data yang digunakan adalah deskriptif analitik. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kompetensi mahasiswa meningkat secara bertahap setelah mengikuti program ini. Keterampilan dan kecakapan hidup dasar seperti sikap adaptif, kematangan emosional, dan keterampilan berkomunikasi merupakan keterampilan soft skills yang dikembangkan. Sementara itu, keterampilan hard skills ditandai peningkatan keterampilan performa berbahasa, keterampilan digital, dan kemampuan rekayasa digital. Hasil penelitian dapat dimanfaatkan institusi pendidikan, yakni sebagai bahan pertimbangan untuk membuat dan menentukan strategi pengembangan dan peningkatan kompetensi sehingga mampu menghasilkan lulusan kompetitif.

Abstract

Artikel ini bermaksud untuk mengungkapkan dekonstruksi sosok abjek yang diangkat dalam tiga cerita pendek karya Intan Paramaditha. Ketiga cerita pendek tersebut mengetengahkan sosok perempuan yang dijadikan abjek. Mereka digambarkan seperti monster yang menakutkan dan harus disingkirkan karena bukan bagian dari diri yang bersih. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deksripsi analisis yang berupaya mengungkapkan persoalan perempuan abjek secara mendetail dan komprehensif. Dengan menggunakan teori abjek yang digagas oleh Kristeva (1982) penelitian ini mengungkapkan perempuan yang direpresentasikan sebagai monster yang menjijikan, menakutkan, dan meneror adalah konstruksi patriarki. Mereka dibungkam dan tidak mampu menyuarakan dirinya. Dekonstruksi yang di hadirkan teks mampu mengaburkan dikotomi perempuan baik-baik dan perempuan jalang sehingga membongkat konstuksi negatif dari sistem patriarki yang lekat dengan sosok abjek dan merayakan kembalinya tubuh maternal.

Abstract

Penelitian yang berjudul “Campur dan Alih Kode pada Pola Komunikasi antar Dosen dan Mahasiswa di Lingkungan UNIKOM dalam Aplikasi Media Sosial: Kajian Sosiolinguistik” ini merupakan sebuah penelitian lanjutan dari penelitian yang telah dilakukan sebelumnya yang berjudul: “Alih Kode dan Campur Kode pada Pola Komunikasi Dosen UNIKOM di Aplikasi Kuliah Online Unikom: Kajian Sosiolinguistik”. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan jenis dan bentuk alih dan campur kode pada pola komunikasi antar dosen dan mahasiswa UNIKOM dalam aplikasi media sosial, dan faktor yang mempengaruhinya, serta dampak yang ditimbulkan oleh pola komunikasi tersebut. Adapun yang menjadi subjek penelitian ini adalah kode atau bahasa yang digunakan oleh dosen-dosen dan mahasiswa UNIKOM di aplikasi media sosial, sedangkan objeknya adalah campur dan alih kode pada ujaran yang diungkapkan dosen-dosen dan mahasiswa tersebut. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah purposive sampling; yakni mengumpulkan sampel data yang berisikan kasus-kasus alih kode dan campur kode dengan tujuan untuk mengetahui karakteristik jenis, bentuk, faktor, dan dampak pemakaian alih kode dan campur kode. Data yang dikumpulkan, kemudian dipilah berdasarkan kasus-kasus alih kode dan campur kode yang terdapat di dalamnya, lalu, dianalisis dengan teknik analisis deskriptif sesuai dengan konteksnya. Penelitian ini diharapkan dapat memberikan kontribusi pemahaman tentang campur kode dan alih kode, terutama dalam mendeskripsikan jenis, faktor, dan dampaknya dalam kegiatan berbahasa sehari-hari, Adapun tujuan jangka panjang, diharapkan penelitian ini dapat memberikan pencerahan tentang pola komunikasi yang efektif, terutama terhadap komunikasi antara dosen dan mahasiswa sebagai masyarakat akademis yang terkadang memerlukan penyesuaian pola dan cara berbahasa tertentu. Selain itu, penelitian ini mempunyai target khusus yakni diharapkan dapat digunakan sebagai salah satu bahan pembelajaran kepada dosen dan mahasiswa ketika melakukan kegiatan belajar mengajar mengenai berbahasa, misalnya yang berhubungan dengan percakapan atau dialog, serta penggunaannya dalam masyarakat berdasarkan bentuk dan fungsi yang sesuai. Abstract

This research analyses the social phobia of the character Audrey Turner in the novel Finding Audrey by Sophie Kinsella. The writer aims to reveal the main character's motivation behind her anxiety and fear in society. This happens because Audrey experiences bullying at school. Her friends intimidate and treat Audrey badly. Bullying becomes trauma for Audrey which affects her to be overly afraid when interacting with people. Audrey becomes discouraged, anti-social, low self-esteem, and high self-criticism. The social environment makes Audrey feels threatened because it is always terrorized by her traumatic event. As it is known that trauma is a mental injury that makes the nervous system threatened. So when Audrey interacts with people, warning threats come through emotional or physical reactions. Furthermore, this paper uses a qualitative method. The data are collected and represented in direct quotes from the book and analysis also supported by journals. Therefore, through this case, psychoanalysis theory by Sigmund Freud is used in order to discover the process of anxiety work and the kinds of anxiety on Audrey's psychic. Freud said that anxiety is only produced or feel from the ego but the Id, the superego, and the external world are involved in the types of anxiety. These types of anxiety are neurotic anxiety, moral anxiety, and realistic anxiety. This research reveals that Audrey's social phobia is a type of realistic anxiety that is triggered by the social world. This is due to the traumatic event which is bullying that occurs during the school.

Abstract

The objective of this research is to analyze Boromir’s defense mechanism and his characterization. This research applies several theory and method which encompasses characterization, psychoanalysis, and defense mechanisms. It is also aims to examine the types of defense mechanism used by the character. Data are collected from scenes of the film, dialogues, gestures, responses and facial expressions of the character. The field of the study are around the scene of the films of which the character appeared. Some limited history are also studied, collected from the film and biography from other sources. The result of the research shows that the character is considered as a representation of psychological state of human being. It shows the way human defend him/herself when facing problem. In the analysis, the character uses several defense mechanisms which is Reaction formation, Denial, and Displacement that made the character resist the tempation to harm his companion and being reckless.

Abstract

Death Note yang dibuat oleh Tsugumi Ohba dan diilustrasikan oleh Takeshi Obata yang dibuat ulang oleh Netflix pada 2017. proses remake mengubah beberapa aspek cerita, salah satunya adalah perubahan dalam karakter utama, Light. One of the changes that can be seen is Light’s fashion to school. These changes are influenced by cultural differences due to changes in place settings in the story. By using the theory of cultural change proposed by Julian Steward, this study will be analyzed descriptively using a qualitative method. The data in this study were obtained from the anime Death Note made in Japan and the film Death Note version of Netflix. From the research conducted, it was found that there was a change in the way of dressing Light Yagami and Light Turner to school. This can be seen from the uniform rules in the two very different countries, between United State and Japan. There is a cultural adaptation that occurs in the making of the film Death Note Netflix version. Keywords : Death Note, Adaptation, Culture, Fashion

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the characterization of Edmund in The Chronicles of Narnia: The Witch, The Lion and The Wardrobe film. As for in revealing the character of Edmund, the author will analyzed through psychoanalysis approach from Sigmund Freud about the Id, Ego and Superego. This approach is used ,because the theory of psychoanalysis is able to reveal the unconscious impulses that affect human behavior. Through such behavior, researchers can determine the portrayal of Edmund's character. Data collection was conducted with descriptive qualitative method. The result of this research is the contradiction between the id, ego and superego which is completely dominated by the id. The domination of the id affects the behavior of Edmund which is loving, curious, ambitious, impressionable, greedy, liar and courageous. Keywords: Film, Characterization, Psychoanalysis

Abstract

The analysis attempts to examine teenagers' behaviour towards poor physical appearance people as reflected in a comic entitled “Never Understand”. They tend to bully those people verbally. This article uses Library research methods to seek out the representation of bullying, especially verbal bullying since they tend to do it than physical one. It also examined the factor and identified whole consequences from bullying. The analysis found that verbal abuse towards the main character, along with the factors that cause the perpetrator to commit bullying, and the aftermath of bullying to the main character. with this due, it simplified that lack of integrity to self, obnoxious surroundings and environment. For this case, it forced teenagers to create such nuisance conditions. In addition, to conclude that bullying will harm every individual, especially for people who have deficiencies.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis karakterisasi Jack dalam film Wonder (2017). Wonder adalah film drama keluarga Amerika 2017 yang disutradarai oleh Stephen Chbosky dan diproduksi oleh Michael Beugg, dan Clark, David Hoberman dan Todd Lieberman. Ditulis oleh Jack Thorne, Steve Conrad dan Stephen Chbosky berdasarkan novel Wonder oleh R.J. Palacio. Film ini bercerita tentang seorang anak laki-laki dengan cacat fisik bernama August Pullman yang mengalami bullying di sekolah. Jack adalah salah satu karakter yang ingin berteman dengan August Pullman. Data yang diidentifikasi dianalisis sesuai dengan pendekatan intrinsik oleh Edgar V. Roberts yang dikutip oleh Rondonuwu (13) dalam analisis Menulis karakter utama dalam film Barbie of Swan Lake. Penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa tokoh Jack memiliki karakter Peduli, Setia, Berani dan Baik dalam film Wonder (2017). Kata Kunci: Jack, Wonder (2017), Film, Karakteriasi, Tokoh

Abstract

This study concerns on the character of conservative mother of Alice Garton in response to her daughter's love affair with her boyfriend, Chris in the novel “Dear Nobody” by Berlie Doherty. The researcher intends to discover the reasons why Alice Garton becomes very strict, super disciplined, overprotective, and overcare to Helen, her daughter, which made her reluctant to share her problems and hide her unexpected pregnancy from her. Moreover,this study is a descriptive qualitative research that uses the three personality aspects theory by Sigmund Freud as the psychoanalytic framework. The primary data source used in analyzing Alice Garton character is “Dear Nobody” novel by Berlie Doherty besides various reliable academic journals and books related to psychoanalysis as secondary data source. The data analysis technique employed is content analysis of the story. The result of this study will be presented in the narrative form which reveals that Alice's strict and conservatives personality according to the three personality aspects proposed by Freud is supergo for she behaves according to the norms and values that is accepted by society. The three reasons that Alice is a conservative are her standpoint, actions and beliefs.
