Abstract

Penelitian yang berjudul “Alih Kode dan Campur Kode pada Pola Komunikasi Dosen UNIKOM di Aplikasi Kuliah Online Unikom: Kajian Sosiolinguistik” ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan jenis, bentuk, serta tujuan digunakannya alih kode dan campur kode pada ujaran yang dikemukakan oleh dosen-dosen UNIKOM di aplikasi Kuliah Online. Adapun yang menjadi subjek penelitian ini adalah bahasa yang digunakan oleh dosen-dosen UNIKOM di aplikasi Kuliah Online tersebut, sedangkan objeknya adalah alih kode dan campur kode pada ujaran yang diungkapkan dosen-dosen tersebut. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan purposive sampling; yakni mengumpulkan sampel data yang berisikan kasus-kasus alih kode dan campur kode dengan tujuan untuk mengetahui karakteristik jenis, bentuk, dan tujuan pemakaian alih kode dan campur kode, kemudian dianalisis dengan teknik analisis deskriptif sesuai dengan konteksnya. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan 44 kasus terjadinya alih kode dan campur kode atau persentase penggunaan jenis ini mencapai 86,3% atau setara dengan 38 kasus. Sebaliknya, jenis alih kode yang paling sedikit terjadi adalah alih kode tag; persentase penggunaannya hanya 2,3% atau setara dengan 1 kasus. Sedangkan, jenis alih kode antarkalimat atau klausa mencapai persentase 11,4% atau setara dengan 5 kasus. Di sisi lain penggunaan bentuk alih dan campur kode yang ditemukan adalah 11,4% penggunaan bentuk alih dan campur kode intern atau setara dengan 5 kasus. Sedangkan, bentuk ekstern mencapai 88,6% atau setara dengan 39 kasus. Dari aspek tujuan penggunaan alih dan campur kode, dari total 26 data terjadinya alih dan campur kode, hanya empat tujuan alih dan campur kode yang ditemukan, yakni memperhalus permintaan sebanyak 3 kasus atau setara 11,6%, memberikan penekanan dari ungkapan sebanyak 1 kasus atau setara 3,8%, menunjukkan hubungan yang informal atau kedekatan sebanyak 4 kasus atau setara 15,4%, dan kebutuhan leksikal sebanyak 18 kasus atau setara 69,2%.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan menelisik sikap mahasiswa Program Studi Sastra Inggris Universitas Komputer Indonesia terhadap Program Pembelajaran Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM). Fokus penelitian diberikan pada kompetensi spesifik dari dampak implementasi Program Pembelajaran MBKM. Membongkar isu terkait dampak program ini, penelitian menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif. Teknik pengumpulan data berupa observasi, survei, dan wawancara mendalam diterapkan pada tahap pengumpulan data, sedangkan teknik analisis data yang digunakan adalah deskriptif analitik. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kompetensi mahasiswa meningkat secara bertahap setelah mengikuti program ini. Keterampilan dan kecakapan hidup dasar seperti sikap adaptif, kematangan emosional, dan keterampilan berkomunikasi merupakan keterampilan soft skills yang dikembangkan. Sementara itu, keterampilan hard skills ditandai peningkatan keterampilan performa berbahasa, keterampilan digital, dan kemampuan rekayasa digital. Hasil penelitian dapat dimanfaatkan institusi pendidikan, yakni sebagai bahan pertimbangan untuk membuat dan menentukan strategi pengembangan dan peningkatan kompetensi sehingga mampu menghasilkan lulusan kompetitif.

Abstract

This study analyzes literary works in the form of song lyrics where the data is taken from one of Olivia Rodrigo's songs entitled 'Drive License' which was released on January 8 2021. The song is intended for a lover who betrayed her. This study aims to analyze the meaning of the song. In this song, the man is claimed to only give women false hope and a feeling of disappointment over the betrayal of their lover. This study uses an analysis that examines semantic meaning using the Contextual Meaning theory approach by Pateda (2010) to analyze the meaning of feelings in the song lyrics, namely the context of the speaker's mood, for example sad, disappointed, afraid, irritated. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method which is by making observations using phenomena or facts obtained by conventional data. The results of the analysis illustrate that the lyrics of the song 'Drive License' adopt a sketch aesthetic and describe Olivia Rodrigo's healing in her broken heart which shows her feelings of sadness and disappointment towards the man who hurt her. Abstract

Movie poster has a commercial value and is used to advertise the movie. This research is conducted to analyze the sign depicted as well as the meaning from the Little Mermaid movie poster. This research used qualitative descriptive analysis method to explain the sign and its meaning. Furthermore, Semiotic from Charles Sander Peirce is used to analyze the sign and its meaning. To support the analysis, various journals and books are used as the reference. The result of this study indicated that there are two types of signs found in movie posters, namely qualisign and sinsign. The Little Mermaid movie poster also contained two different kinds of objects, namely Icons and Indexes, where the index is also further divided into spatial and temporal indexes. The last thing from the poster found was the interpretant which is the connection and the meaning of signs and objects. From the result, it can be concluded that each sign that depicted in the movie poster is represented well, not only through the visual one, but also the non-verbal one. It is because we could also get an official information on where we can find or see the movie, which is very crucial for the movie poster. Keywords: Semiotics, Peirce, Sign, Object, Interpretant

Abstract

Penelitian ini berjudul Representasi Kelas Sosial Pada Film They Live. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui dan mendeskripsikan kelas sosial apa saja yang terdapat pada film They Live karya John Carpenter dan perjuangan apa saja yang dilakukan untuk terlepas dari belenggu kaum borjuis berdasarkan perspektif teori kelas marxisme. Marxisme adalah teori tentang apa yang dikenal sebagai masyarakat dan langkah-langkah untuk mengubahnya, atau sistem yang mengikat masyarakat itu sendiri. Karl Heinrich Marx adalah orang yang memperkenalkan ide-ide yang sekarang dikenal sebagai Marxisme. Karl Marx mengabdikan dirinya pada hubungan manusia, terutama yang didasarkan pada kondisi sosial ekonomi. Menurut Marx, hubungan ini adalah salah satu antagonisme antara kelas orang yang berbeda, perjuangan antara satu kelas yang memiliki alat produksi dan kelas lain yang harus menjual tenaga kerjanya untuk bertahan hidup. Dikenal sebagai kelas kaum. Borjuasi dan proletariat. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif deskriptif dengan pendekatan kelas atau konflik sosial dari karl marx. Temuannya adalah Film They Live menampilkan tema tentang perbedaan kelas sosial, manipulasi media massa, dan perjuangan kelas. Perspektif kelas marxisme ditunjukan secara eksplisit menggambarkan konflik antara kelompok proletar yang di kuasai oleh kelompok borjuis alien yang kaya dan berkuasa, representasi kelas sosial ini tercermin melalui perbedaan dalam kondisi hidup, pekerjaan dan tingkat akses terhadap pekerjaan dan sumber daya. Abstract

This study aims to determine the portrayal of characters in the film The Menu 2022. In examining the characters in the film, The Menu, researcher conducted a characterization analysis which was classified into seven functions of dramatic characters through the theoretical framework of Vladimir Propp. This study is used because narratology theory can focus on the actions of a character who is limited in terms of meaning. Through this classification, researchers can find out the depiction of characters and the limits of their actions. The data collection method is carried out by qualitative methods and narrative analysis by collecting research results in the form of descriptions accompanied by screenshots. This study produced findings in the form of depictions of seven-character functions contained in the film "The Menu". The resulting conclusions, based on the data and analysis conducted in this research, reveal a deeper understanding of the narrative structure character’s function using dramatic persona analysis in the film "The Menu" and identify the roles and functions of the characters in the film. The result of this research, researcher found 7 dramatic persona function in the film. Such as, the villain, the donor, the helper, the dispatcher, princess/prize, the hero, and the false hero. Abstract

Literature entitled After Ever Happy written by Anna Todd is the last novel of After series. The novel mainly tells about the life of the main character Hardin who is known by the closest people around him as a troublemaker and rebellious. He cannot control his emotions whenever he faced problems. Damaging and rebelling can be categorized as defence mechanism as a way to protect himself. Hardin’s action give a substantial impact on his closest people such as Tessa, Vance, and Landon. The impact will be the main focus of this research. Employing defense mechanism theory by Freud the results of this study show that Hardin’s closest people are also used a defence mechanisms to respond to Hardin’s action. Thus to reduce the bigger problems that will arise, that can harm more people. the three supporting characters who felt the impact of Hardin's emotion use self-defense mechanism.

Abstract

This research discusses the meaning of mental health, specifically depression that is reflected in the lyrics and music video of the song titled Voices in My Head by Falling in Reverse. This research applied qualitative descriptive method along with Roland Barthes semiotic perspective to find the signification process in the data that is related to the issue, and also types of mental disorder limited to depression as outlined by Keliat. The findings reveal how both the lyrics and visual elements in the music video contribute to the representation of mental health issue, it also shows the common struggle of battling inner thoughts and refusing to seek help due to the fear of being shamed by the public. From the result, it can be concluded that the music video is helpful in portraying taboo subject of mental health issue, especially depression. Keywords: Semiotics, Music Video, Mental Health

Abstract

This research explores how conceptual metaphors are used to express love in the song’s lyric titled “best part” by Daniel Caesar featuring H.E.R. the source and target domain that refers to a lover or describe a lover is the main goal of this research. This research uses descriptive qualitative approach. From the analysis, six conceptual metaphors were identified, each comparing a partner or significant other with essential or comforting elements, those are coffee, sunshine, a star, the best part of a movie, and Tylenol. These conceptual metaphors convey or expresses love by highlighting the singer’s deep emotional connection, appreciations, and reliance to their partner. They emphasize how the partner or significant other brings meaning, joy and support to the singer’s life. The findings also show that conceptual metaphors play a crucial role in simplifying abstract emotions, building more relatable and impactful lyrics for the listener. Abstract

This study aims to identify positive politeness strategies used by Henk Rogers as the Tetris movie's main character. The analysis is conducted on Henk's dialogues that contain positive politeness strategies according to Brown and Levinson's theory. This research uses the descriptive qualitative method to analyze the data, while data collection is done through observation. The results found 48 data of positive politeness strategies used by Henk. Of the 15 existing strategies, 13 strategies appeared in Henk's dialogues. The most dominant strategies are Notice, attending to Hearer and Assert or Presuppose Speaker's Knowledge of and Concern for Hearer's Wants, each appearing in seven dialogues. The factors that influence the use of these strategies include power (P) differences, social distance (D), and rank of imposition (R). When dealing with higher-position interlocutors, Henk used more diplomatic and respectful language, especially when meeting for the first time. However, if the relationship is already closer, his language style becomes more casual and informal. Through the analysis, readers can understand how positive politeness strategies are used in business communication, whether in a company, government environment or when interacting with new people.
