Abstract

This study aims to analyze linguistic phenomena in digital communication conducted by advertising agencies, particularly in their interactions with influencers as strategic partners. The research focuses on hybrid language styles, code-switching practices, and personalization strategies in shaping communication that is both effective and professional, yet friendly. A qualitative descriptive method was employed, with data collected through in-depth interviews involving 13 influencers and 3 agency representatives (Maleo, VML, and Kanan Kiri). The data were analyzed using thematic analysis to identify linguistic patterns and the pragmatic functions of commonly used phrases in digital interactions. The findings reveal that the language style adopted by advertising agencies reflects an adaptation to the digital communication landscape, where phrases like "done," "well noted," and "is it possible?" characterize a hybrid form that blends casual and formal tones. English expressions such as "thank you for reaching out" and "as per our discussion" serve to enhance the agency’s professional image, while Indonesian elements foster emotional closeness with communication partners. Moreover, hierarchical structures remain respected even within casual language use, as illustrated by phrases like “escalate to the superior”. Efficient and well-structured communication is key to ensuring smooth project execution and accelerating workflows. The study concludes that digital communication in advertising agencies serves not only as a message delivery tool but also as a strategic medium for building productive and harmonious professional relationships. These findings contribute to the development of corporate communication strategies grounded in pragmatic linguistics in the digital era. Abstract

Popular music lyrics are not merely a form of entertainment but also function as potent cultural texts that shape and reflect youth identity. This study explores how contemporary popular songs construct and convey representations of adolescent identity through language. This study highlights the role of music as a site of identity negotiation, where adolescents interpret and internalize messages that influence their behaviors and values. By combining textual, discursive, and social dimensions of analysis. Using a qualitative-descriptive method and Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) as the primary framework, the research investigates lyrics from selected international and Indonesian artists, including Billie Eilish, Taylor Swift, BTS, Raim Laode, and musicians from urban London. The analysis focuses on linguistic features, ideological structures, and social implications embedded in the lyrics. Discourse strategies such as metaphor, repetition, symbolism, and localized language are used to articulate personal and collective experiences.Findings indicate that popular music lyrics contribute to shaping emotional, gendered, and cultural identities among youth. Common themes include loneliness, empowerment, romantic ideals, social anxiety, and cultural belonging. Moreover, the lyrics often reflect or challenge prevailing ideologies related to gender norms, consumerism, and social expectations. this research reveals how popular music becomes a dynamic space for ideological contestation and identity formation. The findings offer valuable insights for scholars in literature, media studies, and cultural studies, emphasizing the importance of music in understanding the lived realities of youth in a globalized world.

Abstract

The research aims to explore into defense mechanism used by Locke Lamora, the protagonist of Scott Lynch’s The Lies of Locke Lamora, using a psychoanalytic approach. The research, which is based on Anna Freud’s defense mechanism theory, try to understand how Locke’s psychological defense contributes to his complex identity. The qualitative method of close reading is used on chosen dialogues and narrative section, with a focus on recurring patterns of humor, rationalization, sublimation, denial, projection, and reaction formation. The findings show that Locke has developed defenses as adaptive mechanism that protect him against feelings of guilt, loss, and dread hence his strength, resilience and vulnerability. His tendency to rationalize crimes and injustice, covering up pain with humor, and transform impulse into something artistic demonstrates the ego’s constant effort to maintain order in corrupt place. The research contributes to literary psychology by demonstrating how defense mechanisms function not just as psychological strategies but also as narrative devices, maintaining Locke’s moral ambiguity which defines his character. Abstract

This Mitch Albom’s novel For One More Day explores Chick Benetto’s struggle with family trauma and identity crisis. This study aims to reveal how trauma, parental influence, and identity crises shape Chick’s psychological development via Lacanian psychoanalysis. Using qualitative textual analysis, we apply Lacan’s three orders – the Imaginary, Symbolic Order, and the Real – to trace Chick’s evolution. At the Mirror Stage, Chick forms an “Ideal-I” reflecting imagined wholeness. Disruptions in the Symbolic (a divorced father and broken home) shatter this ego, fueling Chick’s inferiority and identity crisis. Encountering the unsymbolizable Real (his father’s abuse, his mother’s loss) forces Chick to confront repressed trauma. Findings reveal how trauma and parental influence shape Chick’s narrative arc. We conclude that Lacanian analysis illuminates Chick’s journey from misrecognition to self-reconciliation, highlighting identity and resilience in the novel.
