Abstract

Infections in the postpartum period are caused by delays in perineal wound healing. Kegel exercises are exercises to strengthen the pelvic floor muscles, help prevent urinary incontinence problems, and can stretch the perineal tissue as the baby's birth canal. Accelerate healing of perineal wounds in postpartum mothers at the Driyorejo Gresik Community Health Center through Kegel exercise education. This community service was carried out on postpartum mothers with perineal wounds in the Driyorejo Gresik Community Health Center working area in March 2024. The number of postpartum mothers who were given Kegel exercises was 30 people. Service activities are divided into 3 stages, namely preparation, implementation and evaluation. The results of the activity showed a decrease in REEDA scores after doing Kegel exercises. Giving Kegel exercises can speed up the healing of perineal wounds. Kegel exercises given to postpartum mothers for 7 days and done 3 times a day with movements that activate the pubococcygeal muscles can improve blood and oxygen circulation to the muscles and tissues around the perineum.

Abstract

Pregnancy is something that naturally occurs in productive women. During each pregnancy, the mother will experience several changes, both physical changes and psychological changes that are quite specific as a reaction to what she feels during pregnancy. So it does not rule out the possibility for a pregnant woman, especially the final third trimester who will face the labor process, tends to experience anxiety. Distraction and relaxation techniques are non-pharmacological interventions that can be applied to pregnant women in labor. This technique is very useful for reducing or eliminating anxiety when facing labor. The purpose of this community service activity is to provide knowledge and train pregnant women about distraction and relaxation techniques to reduce anxiety levels in dealing with the delivery process. The target of this community service activity is 15 pregnant women. The activity consists of three stages, namely the preparation, implementation, and evaluation stages. The activity begins with a pre test to measure the level of knowledge of respondents using a questionnaire, followed by education and simulation and ends with a post test. The results of the post test showed that 80% of the respondents had good knowledge and 20% had sufficient knowledge. Community service activities through education and demonstrations about distraction and relaxation techniques to reduce anxiety levels in dealing with the delivery process can increase pregnant women's knowledge.

Abstract

Menstrual hygiene management (MHM) is essential for maintaining adolescent girls’ reproductive health, especially for students in Islamic boarding schools (pesantren) where access to information and sanitation facilities is limited. Proper education is crucial to reduce stigma, misconceptions, and improper hygiene practices during menstruation. This community service activity used a participatory educational approach through preparation, material development, implementation, and evaluation stages. The program targeted 38 female students aged 12–18 in a pesantren in Kediri Regency. Evaluation was conducted using pre-test and post-test with paired sample t-test analysis. Evaluation results showed a significant increase in knowledge scores from a mean of 91.68 to 95.13 (p < 0.001), despite initially high baseline scores. These findings indicate that a contextual educational approach effectively strengthens adolescents’ understanding of MHM. The improvement in knowledge was supported by relevant content and interactive delivery methods. Education based on cultural and religious values successfully reduced stigma and promoted healthy menstrual management behavior. MHM education programs in pesantren settings are proven effective in enhancing girls’ understanding. Similar initiatives should be scaled up and integrated into adolescent health education curricula. Keywords: menstrual hygiene management, health education, female students, Islamic boarding school, adolescent girls.

Abstract

Lack of reproductive health knowledge about vaginal discharge is caused by limited access to information media and lack of awareness to maintain cleanliness of reproductive organs (personal hygiene) are factors causing vaginal discharge. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of health education using leaflet media on the knowledge of adolescent girls about vaginal discharge. The research design used a pre-experimental one-group pre-post test design. The population was 80 respondents using a simple random sampling technique so that the sample was 67 respondents. The data collection technique used a questionnaire and data analysis used the Wilcoxon test. The results of the study showed that before being given treatment, most respondents (70.1%) had poor knowledge about vaginal discharge and after being given treatment, most respondents (73.1%) had good knowledge about vaginal discharge. The results of data analysis using the Wilcoxon test to analyze obtained a sig value (2-tailed) or p value = 0.000 <0.05 so that H1 was accepted, meaning that there was an effect of health education using leaflet media on the knowledge of adolescent girls about vaginal discharge at State Junior High School 2 Semen, Kediri Regency. An important role in influencing human behavior such as attitudes, actions and knowledge is to provide health education, because health education is a learning mechanism carried out by individuals or groups.

Abstract

Background: Nausea and vomiting in early pregnancy is something that is normal for all pregnant women to experience as long as the intensity is not excessive. This has an impact on pregnant women and also the fetus, causing fluid, nutrition and weight loss. Purpose: The aim of this study was to determine the effect of consuming Kepok bananas (Musa Paradisiaca Formatypica) on reducing the intensity of nausea and vomiting in women in first trimester gravida. Methods: This study used a pre-experiment design with one group pre-post test in which pregnant women were given boiled kepok bananas for 40 minutes 3 times a day for 7 days. The population in this study was pregnant women in the first trimester who experienced nausea and vomiting. The sample size was 36 respondents. . The sampling technique uses random sampling. The independent variable is consumption of kepok bananas while the dependent variable is intensity of nausea and vomiting. This research uses a questionnaire with Wilcoxon test data analysis Result: The results of the research showed that before being given Kepok bananas, the majority (75.0%) experienced moderate nausea and vomiting, as many as 27 respondents. After being given Banana Kepok, most of the 18 respondents (50.0%) did not experience nausea and vomiting. Based on the results of statistical tests, it is known that the p value is 0.000. Because the value of 0.000 is smaller than <0.05, it can be concluded that the "hypothesis is accepted" that there is an effect of giving Kepok bananas (Musa Paradisiaca F) on the intensity of nausea and vomiting in Gravida mothers in the first trimester. Conclusion: Boiled kepok bananas have the highest vitamin B6 content, namely kepok bananas that are boiled for 40 minutes with vitamin levels (0.3646), so that vitamin B6 levels will reduce the intensity of nausea and vomiting.

Abstract

Breastfeeding is a natural process that strengthens the mother–infant bond and requires patience, knowledge, and family support, especially from husbands. This study aimed to examine the relationship between maternal knowledge and husband’s support with the motivation of postpartum mothers in breastfeeding. An analytic design with a cross-sectional approach was used, involving 40 postpartum mothers selected through purposive sampling. Independent variables were maternal knowledge and husband’s support; the dependent variable was breastfeeding motivation. Data collected using questionnaires and analyzed with the chi-square test. The results were that 50% of respondents had good knowledge, 57.5% received husband’s support, and 65% had positive breastfeeding motivation. Chi-Square analysis revealed a significant relationship between maternal knowledge and husband’s support and breastfeeding motivation (p = 0.000 < 0.05). Maternal knowledge and husband’s support are critical determinants of breastfeeding motivation. Strengthening health education and encouraging active husband involvement are recommended strategies to enhance exclusive breastfeeding practices.
