Abstract

Danau Siombak merupakan danau buatan yang berada di Kelurahan Paya Pasir, Medan Marelan, Kota Medan, Sumatera Utara. AKibat ekosistemnya yang unik sebab terhubung langsung dengan arus pasang surut air laut, Danau Siombak memiliki biodiversitas yang cukup tinggi. Di Danau Siombak terdapat 54 spesies fitoplankton, 12 spesies zooplankton, 9 famili larva dan juvenile, 10 spesies moluska, 18 spesies krustase, 27 spesies ikan, dan 14 spesies mangrove. Sayangnya keberagaman jenis ikan dan keberlimpahan jumlahnya tidak berdampak pada signifikansi kesejahteraan ekonomi Masyarakat sekitar danau. Masayarakat sekitar yang mayoritas bekerja sebagai nelayan hidup dalam kemiskinan. Bersama mitra yakni Medan Mangrove Park Siombak (MMPS) melaksanakan pengabdian kepada Masyarakat dalam bentuk pembuatan rumah ikan (rumpon / tuasan) di sekitar kawasan Danau Siombak. Pembuatan rumah ikan diharap akan berdampak langsung pada peningkatan ekonomi nelayan miskin di sekitar danau. Metode yang digunakan adalah Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA) yang merupakan suatu metode pendekatan dalam proses pemberdayaan dan peningkatan partisipasi masyarakat yang menekankan pada keterlibatan masyarakat dalam keseluruhan kegiatan yang dilakukan. Luaran yang ditargetkan adalah terbangunnya 40 rumah ikan yang akan diberikan pengelolaannya kepada mitra dan masyarakat. Diharapkan kehadiran rumah ikan ini dapat meningkatkan pendapatan masyarakat sekitar Danau Siombak.

Abstract

This study aims to formulate an optimization strategy for sustainable wild honey (Apis dorsata) utilization within the Ujung Kulon National Park, specifically on Panaitan Island. Adopting a mixed-methods approach, the research integrates spatial ecological analysis, socio-economic mapping of the Wild Honey Farmers Group (KPMH), and strategic evaluation using SWOT and Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) methods. Ecological analysis reveals that honeybees predominantly select Kiara, Tongtolok, and Kepuh as host trees, with an average nest height of 18.2 meters. Although the KPMH has implemented sustainable harvesting practices, business sustainability remains hindered by limited working capital, low post-harvest product quality, and the fluctuating risk of forest fires. The SWOT analysis positions the strategy in Quadrant I (Aggressive), supported by internal and external scores of +0.67 and +2.23, respectively. Meanwhile, the AHP results prioritize post-harvest quality improvement and collective capital access (score 0.391). This research concludes that strengthening economic sustainability is an absolute prerequisite for ensuring conservation compliance and habitat preservation through the transfer of dehumidifier technology, business legalization, and the establishment of an integrated aggregator cooperative.

Abstract

The threat of decreasing populations of Tor species continues to increase due to intensive fishing, habitat destruction and infrequent cultivation efforts. Monitoring of this group of fish must be carried out routinely to reveal the population conditions of fish. This research aims to reveal the population conditions of fish through an analytical approach to the length-weight relationship and fish otolith size. All fish samples were then taken for otoliths to measure their size and analyzed further using a scanning electron microscope (SEM). The research was conducted in the Tangkahan River, North Sumatra, Indonesia from January-March, 2023. The results showed that 43 samples of T. douronensis, 34 samples of T. tambra, and 24 samples of T. tambroides had b values of 2.853, 2.757, and 2.353, respectively. The b value in this study indicated that the fish had a negative allometric growth pattern. The size of the otoliths of the three Tor species shows that T. tambra has the highest length (the distance measured from the anterior to the posterior of the of sagitta otolith) on average reaching 9.31 mm, while T. tambroides and T. douronensis only reach 1.53 mm and 1.83 mm. The results were confirmed by ANOVA showing significant differences (P 0.05) in the mean value of otolith size based on Tor species, where the otolith size of T. tambra was significantly different compared to the other two species. The condition of Tor species in the Tangkahan River has experienced ecological pressure. This indication was concluded from the results of the analysis of the length-weight relationship of fish which showed b value 3 (negative allometric).
