Abstract

Banking institutions function as financial intermediaries that rely heavily on public trust, as their operations predominantly utilize funds sourced from depositors rather than shareholders. The stability and sustainability of these institutions depend on their ability to maintain sound financial performance, which reflects managerial effectiveness in balancing liquidity adequacy, profitability, and capital sufficiency. This study investigates the influence of executive compensation, independent boards, and liquidity on firm performance measured using return on assets (ROA) among banking firms listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange. The research employs a purposive sampling technique and analyzes 235 firm-year observations from 47 banking companies over the 2018–2022 period. Data were processed using variance-based structural equation modeling (SEM-PLS) with Warp-PLS version 5.0. The findings demonstrate that executive compensation has a significantly positive impact on firm performance. Conversely, the independent board variable shows a negative but statistically insignificant relationship with firm performance. Furthermore, liquidity exhibits a positive influence on financial performance, indicating the importance of maintaining sufficient liquid resources in supporting operational efficiency and profitability.

Abstract

Higher education institutions continually strive to improve the quality of graduates to ensure their competitiveness in the workforce. Therefore, they strive to equip students with a variety of skills, both hard and soft. Hard and soft skills development is embedded in courses within a competency-based curriculum, incorporating case-based and project-based learning. In addition to the knowledge of hard and soft skills acquired in college, students are also given the opportunity to gain practical experience through internships. Undergraduate Management students undertake internships in their seventh semester as part of the required coursework to earn a Bachelor of Economics degree. In the 2025-2026 academic year, 260 students from the class of 2022 will undertake internships. They will be placed in departments aligned with their respective concentrations, including human resources, marketing, finance, or operations.Students are now actively seeking internships, both in government and private institutions, through various programs offered, through MBKM internships, or through independent internships. Students entering the workforce, particularly through internship programs, often face challenges in understanding and applying professional ethics in the workplace, often in a work environment that is unfamiliar to them. This lack of understanding can negatively impact performance, interpersonal relationships, and the institution's image.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of Halal Food Supply Chain Management (HFSCM) on the competitive advantage of Food & Beverages MSMEs fostered by Pekanbaru SOE Houses. The background of the research is based on the low level of halal certification and the lack of optimal implementation of halal supply chains in the culinary MSME sector, even though Indonesia has great potential in the halal industry. The study used a quantitative approach with the SEM-PLS method and involved 130 active MSME respondents. HFSCM is measured through six dimensions: halal raw material, halal process, halal packaging, halal warehousing, halal transportation, and halal distribution. Competitive advantage is measured through product quality, innovation, delivery accuracy, service, and differentiation. The results of the study show that the entire hypothesis is accepted. HFSCM has been proven to have a positive and significant influence on the competitive advantage of MSMEs. Supplier Partnership is the most dominant factor in increasing competitiveness, while Human Development is the strongest predictor of HFSCM. The R² value of 74.3% in the competitive advantage variable and 69.2% in HFSCM indicates the high predictive power of the model. This study confirms that the implementation of a halal supply chain as a whole increases consumer confidence, operational quality, and the competitive position of MSMEs. These findings make a practical contribution to the development of MSMEs, especially in strengthening human resource competencies, supplier partnerships, and digital literacy to support the sustainable implementation of HFSCM.
