Abstract

Student’s discipline violation at SMA N X Padang are affected by internal and external  factors.  Findings  in  the  field  showed  that  many  students  broke  the  school’s discipline.  This research  is aimed to describe  internal  and external  factors  that  affected students’ discipline violation and those implications for Counseling and Guidance services. This  research  is  classified  into  quantitative  research  in  descriptive  type.  The  research subjects are 130 students who violate the discipline at SMA N X Padang. The research instrument  is questionnaire.  The findings  of the research revealed:  internal and external factors which affected violation of discipline is at medium category.

Abstract

This research was initiated by the condition of students who still have no internalized conformity to school regulation. Basically, each learner has different awareness in conforming school regulation. Some of them do it because of their self-awareness, and others do it because of their anxiety to behave and obey school regulation. The objectives of this  research were to describe (1) the internalized conformity of students to school regulation concerning the way they dress, (2) the internalized conformity of students to school regulation concerning the way they behave, (3) internalized conformity to school regulation in conforming, (4) and the difference of internalized conformity to school regulation between male and female students.This research used quantitative approach with descriptive comparative, with 251 students as sample chosen by using proportional random sampling tecnique. The result revealed that  the level of internalized conformity of students to school regulation was in medium category. There was a difference of internalized conformity to school regulation between male and female students.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the stress that become a complex problem for students in daily life. Self efficacy, achievement motivation, and academic procrastination expect to affect students academic stress. The research purpose was to describe: (1) self efficacy, (2) achievement motivation, (3) academic procrastination, (4) student academic stress, (5) correlation of self efficacy with students academic stress, (6) correlation of achievement motivation with students academic stress, (7) correlation of academic procrastination with students academic stress, and (8) correlation of self efficacy, achievement motivation and academic procrastination with students academic stress.This study used quantitative approach with correlation descriptive method and the population were students of Guidance and Counseling Program of Education Faculty State University of Padang. The sampling technique was proportional stratified random sampling. The instrument was a scale model of Likert. The instrument reliability of self efficacy was 0,930, achievement motivation was 0,906, academic procrastination was 0,868, and students academic stress was 0,932. The instrument validity of self efficacy 0,554, achievement motivation was 0,469, academic procrastination was 0,453, and students academic stress was 0,568. Data were analyzed by using simple linier regression and multiple regression.The result indicates that: (1) self efficacy and achievement motivation of students are at the high category, (2) academic procrastination and students academic stress are in the moderate category, (3) there are negative correlation and significant between self efficacy with students academic stress, (4) there are negative and significant correlation between achievement motivation and students academic stress, (5) there are positive and significant correlation between academic procrastination with students academic stress, (6) there are significant correlation between self efficacy, achievement motivation and academic procrastination with students academic stress together, and (7) the implication are inputs from the various parties involved in to increase self efficacy and achievement motivation of students and reduce or prevent procrastination and academic stress..Keywords: Self Efficacy, Achievement Motivation, Procrastination Academic, Academic Stress

Abstract

Life satisfaction on the Elderly were influenced by various factors. This study aims to describe: 1).the level of life satisfaction, spiritual intelligence and Elderly family support, 2) the contribution of spiritual intelligence and family support either individually or jointly to the Elderly life satisfication. The research population were the elderly in the city of Padang, with samples are 60 people, by using non probability sampling techniques. The instruments used in the research is the Likert scale model. Reliability test results on spiritual intelligence was 0.844; while the family support and life satisfaction are each valued at 0.542 and 0,871. The results of the validity of the average instrument for spiritual intelligence 0,542, familie supports and life satisfaction are each valued at 0.510 and 0,492. The results of this study showed that spiritual intelligence, family support and life satisfaction were in high requirements for the Elderly life satisfaction and the spiritual intelligence and support families either singly or together were contributing to the Elderly life satisfaction.Keywords : Elderly, Spiritual Intelligence, Family Support, Life Satisfaction

Abstract

Sexual harassment is increasingly prevalent. This is a concern because most sex offenders are teenagers. Sexual harassment committed by adolescents is related to the psychological development they are undergoing. Adolescence is a transitional period between children and adults characterized by ongoing processes of change in biological, psychological and sociological terms. Adolescent students live their lives in school throughout the day, if calculated spending about 7 hours/day at school This study aims to describe the sexual abuse behavior of adolescents. The research sample consisted of 182 vocational students who were selected by the proportional random sampling technique. The instrument used was a scale of sexual harassment behavior. The research instrument was tested for validity and reliability The data analysis in this study used a quantitative approach with descriptive methods. The results showed that the acts of adolescent sexual harassment, in general, were in the high category of 76 students (42%). The implications of this study are as a basis for counselors to prevent acts of teenage sexual harassment in schools.

Abstract

The training and workshop activities are carried out based on the phenomenon of the many problems that have arisen in the global era with sophisticated and modern technology today, one of the events experienced by many junior high school students is sexual harassment both physically and verbally. For this reason, counselors and counselors must make various counseling and counseling services, one of which is group guidance services, including efforts to prevent sexual harassment among students. Group counseling services can be done with a variety of approaches, one of which is the approach and techniques of expressive therapy counseling. The expressive therapist believes that individuals are different in expressing what is in themselves, there are individuals who are more open to express what is felt in him, including communicating the anxiety he feels. The results show that there is an increase in understanding and knowledge of school counselors / school counselors, especially in terms of implementing counseling in schools. During this time in school, counseling teachers carry out counseling with traditional methods, namely asking with special techniques, but after this training the counseling teacher can conduct counseling with an expressive therapy approach.

Abstract

The background of this research was the lack of  student’s learning motivation. Locus of control and student’s perception about education became factors that can predict student’s learning motivation. This research is aimed to describe: (1) locus of control, (2) student’s perception about education, (3) learning motivation, and examine: (4) the relationship between locus of control with learning motivation, (5) the relationship between student’s perception about education with learning motivation, and (6) the relationship between locus of control and student’s perception about education with learning motivation. This research applied quantitative method with a descriptive correlational. The populations of this research were 623 students of SMA Pertiwi 1 Padang in grade X and XI and the samples were 243 students, that were chosen by using proportional stratified random sampling technique. The instrument of the research was a model likert scale. The implication of this research can be made as a need assessment to make a program of guidance dan counseling service in SMA Pertiwi 1 Padang.

Abstract

Students who are likely to have a positive self concept will have a high sense of optimism in the process of thesis writting. This study aims to describe the concept of self-esteem and optimism the students in the process of thesis writting and identify relationships of self concept and optimism. This research is descriptive correlation with 61 students Guidance and Counseling as subject. This research used a questionnaire instrument and has passed the valid test. The research result reveal the condition of student self concept on category quite well and optimism of the student on good category, and there is a significant relationship between self concept and optimism of the student in the process of thesis writting by category. Necessary counseling services for optimizing student self concept and optimism.
