Abstract

This study aims to describe the formation of characters through the strengthening of Ki Hadjar Dewantara's cultural capital based teachings. The research setting was Taman Muda Ibu Pawiyatan elementary school in Yogyakarta City, Indonesia and it is one of the schools established by Ki Hadjar Dewantara, the Indonesian educational leader and hero. This qualitative research was designed as a case study using the purposive sampling with individual resources such as headmaster, teacher, student representatives, school committee, parents, foundation management and school supervisor. The data analysis deals with an interactive model of Miles and Huberman.. To test the data validity, researchers used the  triangulation technique and reference materials. The research results show that the implementation of cultural capital in terms of character education at SD Taman Muda Ibu Pawiyatan deals with methods of habituation, examples and exemplaries integrated with learning, extracurricular and daily activities at home and in society

Abstract

Abstract The objectives of this research are to find out: (1) leadership style of elementary school principal (ESP) in Yogyakarta province; (2) the difference of leadership style between male and female of elementary school principal; (3) the differences of job satisfaction between male and female teacher; and (4) the correlation between woman’s of elementary school principal transformational leadership style and teacher’s job satisfaction based on gender perspective. Population of this research includes the entire elementary schoolteachers in Yogyakarta province. Multistage random sampling is used questionnaire, while technique data analysis is used descriptive analysis, t-test, and regression. The result of this research shows that most teachers said that their elementary school  principal (ESP) has a high level of transformational leadership style; there is no different leadership style between male and female elementary school principal (t=1.22; p=0.225); most teachers have a high job satisfaction; there is no different job satisfaction between teacher who has a male and female elementary school principal (t=0.47; p=0.639); there is a positive correlation between transformational leadership style of elementary school  principal and teacher’s job satisfaction (R=0.291 t=7.353, p=0.000). Regarding dender perspective, the result of this research shows that both male and female elementary school principal has a positive correlation between transformational leadership style and teacher’s job satisfaction. Abstract

This study was aimed at exploring an effective and proper MOOC model which is in line with the learning need of Indonesian society, especially in pandemic era. This study was conducted by employing Content Analysis in IndonesiaX and sekolahpintar.com platforms. The data obtained were analysed by identifying the differences and the similarities of each MOOC. The results show that a good MOOC model such as IndonesiaX has a more structured presentation of content, videos with fresh visuals and excellent evaluation. The questions presented also not only measure low order thinking skills, but also present high order thinking skills questions that are not available at SekolahPintar.com. An effective MOOC model must meet the CDT (Component Display Theory) and dimensions of effective online learning, be able to motivate students to learn independently and be able to create student involvement in collaborative discussions. The motivation is more effective if it is continuously aroused by delivering proper strategies, which is in line with the need.

Abstract

Abstract The purpose of this study is to investigate students’ understanding of 1994 high school economics curriculum. The problems of this study are formulated as follows: (1) What economics curriculum materials are difficult to understand?; (2)What curriculum concepts or materials are difficult to teach when students would assume teaching position after they graduated? This exploratory study utilizing survey design has been done in the Department of Cooperative Economics, Faculty of Social Studies Teaching, Institute of Teaching and Educational Sciences Yogyakarta. The sample of this study is drawn by using convenient sampling technique. From this technique, eighty seven students can be determine as the sample in this study. This sample consists of those students who are in the 3rd, 5th, and 7th semester. Data analysis is done with univariate and bivariate descriptive method by using SPSS computer software. The finding of this study are: (1) students’ understanding in 1994 high school economics curriculum generally are low both in terms of teaching context and in terms of economics structure; (2) Curriculum materials which are the most difficult to understand and also difficult to teach, are the ones of the third quarter of the third grade of economics high school classes. Those materials consist of (1) Simple Linear Regression; (2) The Application of Regression in Economics; (3) Time Series (4) The analysis of Time Series Data; (5) Linear Secular Trend: (6) The Use of Time Series Analysis in Economics. Those difficulties arise because the majority of students do not fully master the concept themselves and the method how to teach those concepts. Abstract

Abstrak Kurikulum 1994 untuk mata pelajaran Ekonomi di Sekolah Menengah Umum (SMU) telah dilaksanakan secara menyeluruh sejak tahun 1996. Dalam pelaksanaan tersebut, guru memegang peran yang sangat penting . oleh karena itu hambatan yang mungkin dihadapi oleh guru ekonomi dalam melaksanakan Kurikulum 1994 akan sangat merugikan bagi pencapaina hasil dari proses belajar mengajar mata pelajaran Ekonomi di SMU. Penelitian ini bertujuanuntuk melakukan eksplorasi terhadap berbagai hambatan (kesulitan) yang dihadapi oleh guru Ekonomi SMU dalam melaksanakan Kurikulum 1994. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan pada akhir tahun 1996 dengan menggunakan desain survey. Populasi penelitian ini meliputi seluruh guru Ekonomi SMU di Propinsi Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta (DIY). Besarnya sampel ditentukan berdasarkan table Krejcie dan Morgan. Berdasarkan table tersebut bersarnya sampel dalam penelitian ini adalah 168 orang guru Ekonomi SMU. Pemilihan sampel tersebut dilakukan dengan menggunakan teknik purposive snowball melalui key informan yang berasal dari pengurus Musyawarah Guru Mata Pelajaran (MGMP) Ekonomi di kabupaten-kabupaten : Sleman, Gunung Kidul. Kulon Progo, Bantul, dan Kota Madya Yogyakarta. Pengumpulan data dalam penelitian ini dilakukan dengn menggunakan self-administered questinnaire yang dikonstruksikan secara terbuka dan tetutup. Analisi data dilakukan dengan menggunakan teknik statistic univariate dan bivariate. Hasil analisis data menunjukan bahwa: (1) sebagian besar guru Ekonomi SMU (81,20%) menganggap bahwa Kurikulum Ekonomi 1994 memiliki muatan materi ajar yang terlalu sarat (2) sebagian besar guru (88,20%) mengalami kesulitan dalam mengajarkan Kurikulum Ekonomi 1994, yang disebabkan oleh: belum tersedianya buku pegangan bagi guru, belum tersedianya buku Pelajaran Ekonomi yang sesuai dengan GBPP, adanya materi baru yang harus diajarkan, dan tidak terincinya GBPP; (3) dalam memecahkan masalah yang dihadapi, guru meminta bantuan kepada teman sesame guru, dosen dari perguruan tinggi, dan ahli ekonomi yang ada dalam masyarakat.

Abstract

While the unprecedented COVID-19 pandemic continues to impact, the new normal era becomes the latest universal issue to be discussed. Hence, most Arab countries are still categorized as developing countries, this stipulates the need to provide deep discussion on the typology of the types of responses currently undertaken by their higher education institutions. This can assess their agility in preparing for the intra-pandemic period and the unprecedented future disruption. This paper aims to give reflections on the adopted practices in Arab higher education institutions in response to COVID-19 disruption. It also aims to utilize the success indicators and challenges encountering these universities in a way to propose recommendations to shape the new normal era forward. In this study, a desktop analysis, leveraging six Arab universities websites and governments’ sources, was conducted wherein systematic literature, policy documents, as well as related procedures targeting COVID-19 and higher education were reviewed. The results indicate that, throughout the uncertainties of COVID-19, Arab higher education institutions continuously strive to deliver high quality of teaching and learning through employing consistent high-tech procedures entitling government legislations, education management, curriculum, scientific research and stakeholders’ collaboration.

Abstract

ABSTRACTIndustrial revolution 4.0 has brought about changes in various sectors, one of which is the management pattern applied in the Department of Civil Engineering and Planning Education. This study aims to find out how the Department of Civil Engineering and Planning deals with the impact of the industrial revolution 4.0, as well as analyze the strategies used to optimize productivity to prepare resources that can compete and have digital capabilities according to the standards of the industrial revolution 4.0 through the POAC (Planning, organizing process, Actuating, Controlling). This research uses descriptive qualitative research with an interview and documentation study. The results of the study show that the strategies that have been applied in dealing with the Industrial Revolution 4.0 in the world of education include strategies that are applied to HR management and management of existing infrastructure in the Department of Civil Engineering and Planning Education. The strategies applied to HR Management include further study schemes, individual competency development schemes, and industrial cooperation schemes, while the strategies applied to Facilities and Infrastructure Management include infrastructure development and media that can be used offline and online.Keywords: Civil Engineering, Human Resources Management, Industry Revolution 4.0, Infrastructure Management,ABSTRAKRevolusi industry 4.0 membawa dampak perubahan pada berbagai sector, salah satunya pada pola manajemen yang diterapkan di jurusan Pendidikan Teknik Sipil dan Perencanaan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana Jurusan Pendidikan Teknik Sipil dan Perencanaan menghadapi dampak Revolusi industry 4.0, serta menganalisis strategi yang digunakan untuk mengoptimalkan produktifitas dalam rangka menyiapkan sumber daya yang mampu bersaing serta memiliki kemampuan digital sesuai standar revolusi industry 4.0 melalui proses POAC (Planning, Organizing, Actuating, Controlling). Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif deskriptif dengan metode wawancara serta studi dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan strategi yang telah diterapkan dalam menghadapi Revolusi Industri 4.0 dalam dunia Pendidikan meliputi strategi yang diterapkan ke dalam manajemen SDM dan manajemen sarana prasarana yang ada dalam jurusan Pendidikan Teknik Sipil dan Perencanaan. Strategi yang diterapkan ke dalam Manajemen SDM meliputi skema studi lanjut, skema pengembangan kompetensi individu, dan skema kerjasama industri, sedangkan strategi yang diterapkan ke dalam Manajemen Sarana dan Prasarana meliputi pengembangan infrastruktur serta media yang dapat digunakan secara offline maupun online.
