Abstract

Abstract

Abstract

Abstract

Historical buildings are cultural heritages that require preservation while adapting to modern demands. The Museum Bahari in Jakarta faces challenges in revitalizing its historical architectural elements while integrating adaptive technologies. This research examines the application of smart building systems in revitalizing the museum with minimal intervention to maintain historical integrity. A descriptive qualitative method is used, involving condition analysis, identification of smart technologies, and strategy development. Data collection includes observation, literature review, and case study analysis. Findings indicate that technologies such as humidity sensors, adaptive lighting, and environmental monitoring can enhance building performance and visitor experience without compromising heritage values. This study recommends placing devices in non-structural areas, integrating energy management with conservation needs, and using real-time monitoring systems. These strategies align with heritage conservation principles. The study concludes that smart building technology with minimal intervention offers a sustainable solution for revitalizing historic buildings like the Museum Bahari while enhancing functionality and relevance in the modern era.

Abstract

The Indonesian Army Military Academy (Akmil) in Magelang, established on October 31, 1945, plays a key role in the education and development of career officers for the Indonesian Army (TNI AD). This research aims to evaluate the design of a new Main Hall facility at Akmil, focusing on the use of terracotta materials for its façade. This study employs a quantitative research method with a descriptive approach, supported by qualitative insights from interviews. The primary objective is to empirically assess the psychological impact of terracotta materials on the façade of the Main Hall at Akmil. Data collection involves questionnaires and surveys targeting cadet soldiers to assess their visual perceptions, emotional responses, and preferences regarding the terracotta façade. The proposed design using terracotta materials for the façade is anticipated to enhance both the physical and emotional appeal of the Main Hall. The use of terracotta is expected to create a welcoming, symbolic landmark that reinforces Akmil’s institutional identity and the pride of its personnel. The new Main Hall, incorporating terracotta, promises to address the space limitations while enhancing the psychological and symbolic value of the building. This upgrade will strengthen Akmil’s role as a leading institution in military education. The findings provide insights into how architectural design can contribute to both functional efficiency and emotional well-being in military institutions. This research offers recommendations for future military building designs, emphasizing the importance of material selection for promoting institutional pride and identity.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Comfort in the subdistrict office is an important factor in creating a productive work environment and supporting optimal public service performance. The subdistrict office is an entity that functions as a representation of the local government that is directly related to the needs of the community. Therefore, the comfort of the subdistrict office is crucial because it has the potential to improve the quality of public services, strengthen the relationship between the government and residents, and support employee welfare. Currently, the decreasing number of office employees has caused the Kramatjati Subdistrict Office to be too overloaded in accommodating activities and as a result of the office usage schedule, the Kramatjati Sucdistrict Office seems not to be optimally utilized, so it is necessary to redesign or re-design several rooms in the Kramatjati Subdistrict Office. so that it is more aesthetic and comfortable and more organized so that it can increase comfort in carrying out activities in the office. Therefore, the solution to the problem that was carried out was the Re-layout program for the 1st Floor and Subdistrict Head Room in the Kramat Jati Subdistrict Building. In this Collaboration Program, the UKI Architecture Study Program was asked for assistance from partners to provide design proposals for the Re-layout for the 1st Floor and Subdistrict Head Room. This activity involves lecturers and students of the Architecture Study Program, Faculty of Engineering, Indonesian Christian University as an effort to contribute to society in the field of architectural science. Abstract

The increase in urban activities that are not followed by good urban spatial planning has caused a decline in environmental quality, one of which is seen from the emergence of street vendors who dominate public spaces and carry out buying and selling activities along the roads and sidewalks. This picture can be found in several locations in Manokwari City, such as on Yos Sudarso Sanggeng street, Angkasa Mulyono street, and Jenderal Sudirman street, which are filled with Papuan mothers traders along the roadsides and sidewalks. The location of the garden which is far from home is also the reason they have to sell on the side of the road so that their goods are easily seen and sold quickly, so these Papuan mothers use the sidewalks and roadsides as spaces that are the main market orientation for selling their garden produce. The spaces formed by Papuan mothers when selling have the same patterns as in several research locations that will be studied. The purpose of this study is to identify the factors that encourage Papuan mothers to prefer selling on the roadside or sidewalk, and to find out ideas in organizing and arranging sidewalks for Papuan mothers who sell. This study uses a qualitative method that can produce descriptive data obtained from literature reviews, field observations, and interviews with various informants directly or indirectly through questionnaires and documentation. This study also uses a triadic approach that will discuss spatial practices, spatial representation and representational space to better understand the reproduction of social interaction space for Papuan mothers' selling places at the research location. The results of this study are expected to provide recommendations to the government in the form of an open market design concept on the sidewalk for Papuan mothers as the identity of the city of Manokwari.
