Abstract

Dendrobium Gradita 31 has superior characteristics that are in demand by the market in Indonesia, so seeds with sameness quality, the same characteristics as the parent and in large quantities are needed. Tissue culture is one solution to support the availability of seeds in large quantities and have a high level of sameness quality. The process of regulating the type of ZPT and concentration in the culture media does not always produce the same regeneration pathway. This research aims to determine the regeneration pathway and to obtain the best type and concentration of cytokinin to support its regeneration pathway. This study used a completely randomized design with 3 replications. The first factor is the type of cytokinin, BA and Tdz. The second factor is the concentration of Benzyladenine and Thidiazuron, 1, 2 and 3 mg/l.. The data was analyzed using analysis of variance, and mean value was tested using tukey test 5%. The results of this study indicate that the regeneration pathway in the formation of adventitious shoots was indirect embryogenesis. The use of Tdz 3 mg/l was able to produce the highest percentage of somatic embryo formation and the highest number of somatic embryos. The fastest shoot formation time, shoot formation percentage and the highest number of shoots per clump were found BA 2 mg/l.

Abstract

Potassium is really needed by melon plants to increase the sweet taste of the fruit. The element potassium can improve the size and quality of fruit during the plant's generative period and can add a sweet taste to the fruit. Meanwhile, phosphorus functions in the process of forming plant flowers and fruit as well as increasing fruit production and ripening. The aims of the research were to study interaction between the concentration and time application of MKP fertilizer on the production and quality of melon (Cucumis melo L.) and the effect of concentration and time application of MKP fertilization on the production and quality of melon (Cucumis melo L.). This experiment used Randomized Complete Block Design, which consist 2 factors, first factor was concentration of MKP fertilizer. Second factor was time application of MKP fertilizer. Data obtained were analyzed with F test, and were continued with HSD at 5 percent when significant. Results showed that there is an interaction between the concentration of MKP fertilizer and the time of application of MKP fertilizer for melon production and quality on the parameters of fruit weight, fruit diameter and total soluble solids. Providing MKP fertilizer with a concentration of 9 g.l-1 and application time of MKP fertilizer 42 and 49 days after planting is a good combination for melon production and quality in the parameters of fruit weight (3.16 kg), fruit diameter (13.65 cm), and total dissolved solids (13.73 °brix). Providing MKP fertilizer with a concentration of 9 g.l-1 is the best fertilizer concentration for melon production and quality in the parameters of fruit weight (3.16 kg), fruit diameter (13.65 cm), and total soluble solids (13.73 °brix). MKP fertilizer application time of 42 and 49 HST is the best time for melon production and quality in the parameters of fruit weight (3.16 kg), fruit diameter (13.65 cm), and total soluble solids (13.73 °brix).

Abstract

Orchids are the largest type of flower in the Orchidaceae family of ornamental plants, and this ornamental plant has high economic value. The problem in cultivating orchids is that orchid plants tend to grow slowly. The aim of this research was to determine the most effective concentration of Growmore leaf fertilizer (32-10-10); the best type of planting medium for orchid growth; and to find out the best combination of Growmore foliar fertilizer (32-10-10) with the type of planting medium. This research was carried out using a factorial randomized block design (RBD) with 2 factors and repeated 3 times. The first factor is concentration of Growmore leaf fertilizer (32-10-10) with concentrations of 1 g.l-1 (P1), 2 g.l-1 (P2), 3 g.l-1 (P3), and 4 g.l-1 (P4). The second factor is the type of planting medium consisting of a mixture of wood charcoal and cocopeat (M1), ferns with wood charcoal (M2), and ferns with cocopeat (M3). The results of study showed that the effectiveness of giving Growmore leaf fertilizer (32-10-10) at concentrations of 2 g.l-1, 3 g.l-1, and 4 g.l-1 it showed better results on the observed variables of plant height, increase in number of leaves, and longest leaf length compared to 1 g.l-1.  The use of fern + wood charcoal planting media showed better results in the longest root length observation variable. There is no best combination between Growmore foliar fertilizer (32-10-10) and the type of planting media for the growth of Dendrobium Airey Peach x Dendrobium discolor orchids.

Abstract

In vitro culture method can be used to obtain superior chrysanthemum seedlings. The objective of this research is to determine the origin of the cuttings and the best type of planting media for the growth of chrysanthemum seedlings at acclimatization stage. Data collection for this research was carried out in March-May 2024 at Lampung State Polytechnic Ornamental Plant Net House. This research used a Randomized Block Design (RAK) with two factors, namely origin of cuttings seedlings and type of planting medium with 6 treatment combinations which were repeated 4 times. The first factor are origin of the cutting seedlings (P1) top of the plant, and (P2) middle part of the plant. Meanwhile, the second factor are type of planting medium (M1) husk charcoal, (M2) goat pen compost, and (M3) cocopeat. The results of this research show that the use of shoot cuttings with cocopeat and charcoal husk planting media showed better results in all parameters.
