Abstract

Garlic (Allium sativum L) is a tested type of phytopharmaca because it is proven to have beneficial benefits as antibacterial and protect the body from pathogens. The majority of Indonesian Migrant Workers, especially Prospective Indonesian Migrant Workers (CPMI), are indicated to be susceptible to Urinary Tract Infection (UTI), which is caused by the bacteriuria Escherichia coli. In this study, the crude extract of single garlic (A. sativum L) will be used as an antibacterial against E. coli bateriuria in the urine sample of CPMI, with variations in the concentration of single crude extract of garlic, namely; 0%, 25%, 50%, 75%, and 100%. This research was conducted in a period of 1 (one) year from January to December 2020, with urine research samples from CPMI in the Banyumas Regency area. Extraction was carried out by extracting a single garlic using 96% ethanol solvent in a ratio of 1: 1, then evaporated to produce a filtrate that would be tested with a varied concentrate composition. Isolation of bacteriuria in urine samples using EMBA selective media. From a total of 37 urine samples, 17 about 46% were positive for E. coli, and 20 samples were 54% negative for E. coli. Bacteriuria that was found challenged with crude garlic extract resulted in differences in the antibacterial test at several extract concentrations with amoxicillin positive control, with One Way Anova a P-value = 0.000 <0.05, and continued with the analysis of the Post Hoc Test and the Tuckey Test, that the garlic extract The single most effective used as an anti-bacterial agent is the concentration of 100%, resulting in an average inhibition of 12.81 mm. The ability of single garlic extract to inhibit increases with increasing extract concentrate.

Abstract

Penemuan metode deteksi dini kanker payudara secara sensitif, spesifik dan minimal invasif merupakan kunci dalam keberhasilan pengobatan. Hal ini dapat dilakukan menggunakan biomarker yang bersirkulasi dalam plasma darah yaitu mikroRNA. MikroRNA adalah asam ribonukleat yang tidak mengkode protein tetapi memiliki peran dalam menghambat dan mendegradasi mRNA sehingga mempengaruhi perkembangan kanker. Tujuan: Mengetahui profil ekspresi mikroRNA pada pasien kanker payudara di Purwokerto dan mikroRNA yang mengalami disregulasi sebagai kandidat biomarker kanker payudara. Metode: Analisis profil ekspresi mikroRNA pada kanker payudara dilakukan dengan isolasi plasma dari pasien kanker payudara dan individu sehat, sintesis cDNA, dan kuantifikasi mikroRNA dengan quantitative real time PCR (qPCR). Kemudian dilakukan penghitungan dengan metode Livak untuk mengetahui mikroRNA yang mengalami peningkatan dan penurunan ekspresi yang signifikan. Hasil:  Biomarker kanker payudara di Purwokerto adalah MikroRNA yang mengalami upregulation adalah hsa-miR-543 (sebanyak 1612,28 kali), hsa-miR-495-3p (1797,95 kali), hsa-miR-382-5p (8780,32 kali), hsa-miR-155-5p (8552,18 kali) dan hsa-miR-154-5p (2339,41 kali). mikroRNA yang mengalami downregulation adalah hsa-miR-590-5p (sebanyak 4,70 kali), hsa-miR-33a-5p (sebanyak 74,29 kali), hsa-miR-100-5p (sebanyak 23,09 kali), hsa-miR-19b-3p (sebanyak 11,71 kali) dan hsa-miR-144-3p (sebanyak 25,30 kali) (p < 0,05). Simpulan: Biomarker yang dapat digunakan sebagai alat deteksi dan diagnostik dini kanker payudara di Purwokerto adalah miR-382-5p.Kata kunci: biomarker, kanker payudara, mikroRNA, qPCR

Abstract

Management of plant pests and diseases can prevent crop failure of agricultural commodities. Trichoderma spp. is a type of biological control fungus. Tobacco can be used as a vegetable pesticide. However, the synergy of tobacco and Trichoderma spp. when applied simultaneously in controlling pathogens is not yet known, considering the content of the active compound nicotine in tobacco which has antifungal properties, it is necessary to conduct this study with the aim of knowing the effect of tobacco immersion on the growth of the fungus Trichoderma spp. and if there is no inhibition then both will have the potential as a combination of natural biopesticides. This study used a completely randomized design (CRD). The treatment tried was different concentrations of tobacco soak mixed with PDA as a culture medium for Trichoderma spp. The concentrations tested were 0% (T0, positive control), 5% (T1), 10% (T2), 15% (T3), and 20% (T4). The negative control used a fungicide with the active ingredient mankozeb. Each treatment was repeated 3 times. Colony thickness and color data were observed visually by descriptive method. Meanwhile, data on colony diameter, number of spores, dry weight of mycelium were analyzed by F test, if significantly different, then followed by DMRT test with a confidence level of 5%. Based on research that has been carried out from July-August 2021, the results obtained on PDA media with tobacco soaking content with concentrations of 0% (K+), 5% (T1), 10% (T2), 15% (T3), 20% (T4 ) can be grown with Trichoderma spp., while the media with the addition of synthetic fungicides made from mankozeb is not grown. The difference in concentration showed different growth results and the effective concentration in this research was 15%, because at 20% concentration there was a decrease in spore density and mycelium dry weight.

Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini untuk mengetahui hubungan antara ukuran tubuh dan bobot badan kambing Kejobong betina pada umur yang berbeda di Kabupaten Purbalingga. Penelitian menggunakan 79 ekor kambing betina berumur kurang dari 1 tahun sampai lebih dari 2,5 tahun. Data dianalisis menggunakanan uji korelasi. Penelitian menemukan hubungan yang sangat erat antara panjang badan , tinggi pundak ,lingkar dada dengan bobot badan pada kambing berumur kurang dari 1 tahun dan pada gabungan umur. Hubungan yang erat ditemukan pada panjang badan , tinggi pundak ,lingkar dada dengan bobot badan pada kambing umur 1-1,5 tahun. Panjang badan , tinggi pundak ,lingkar dada dengan bobot badan pada umur 2-2,5 tahun memiliki hubungan yang lemah. Pada umur lebih dari 2,5 tahun lingkar dada dengan bobot badan memiliki hubungan yang erat namun untuk Panjang badan dan tinggi Pundak korelasinya sedang.Hasil penelitian menyimpulkan bahwa lingkar dada memiliki korelasi yang erat dengan bobot badan kambing Kejobong.

Abstract

Background. Sakub sheep is a local sheep in Brebes Regency, Central Java, that has the potential as a genetic resource because it has a jumbo body. To know the body weight, weighing must be done. However, in buying and selling transactions, body weight can be estimated using livestock body measurements. Livestock body morphometrics such as body length, chest circumference, and shoulder height can be used to estimate livestock body weight. The study aimed to determine whether there is a relationship between body morphometric measures (body length, chest circumference, and shoulder height) and body weight in male sakub sheep. By studying this relationship, we can obtain useful information in optimizing ram production and can assist in determining appropriate management and nutrition strategies to increase ram body weight. Materials and Methods. Sheep were used in several age groups (12 months, 18 months, 24 months, and 36 months). The tools used in this study were hanging scales, measuring tapes, and stationery. Results. Based on the study's results, it can be seen that the relationship between body morphometrics (body length, chest circumference, and shoulder height) and body weight of male sakub sheep in various age groups has differences in the level of correlation. In the 12-month age group, the shoulder height variable had a very strong correlation (0.95) with body weight, while body length had a moderate correlation (0.55) and chest circumference had a low correlation (0.33). In the 18-month age group, the chest circumference variable had a very strong correlation (0.89) with body weight, while body length and shoulder height had strong correlations of 0.79 and 0.74, respectively. At 24 months of age, body length had a very strong correlation with body weight (0.99), while shoulder height had a moderate correlation (0.59) and chest circumference had a low correlation (0.29). In the 36-month age group, body length had a very strong correlation with body weight at 0.99, shoulder height had a strong correlation at 0.72, while the chest circumference variable had a low correlation (0.52). Conclusion. Based on the research and discussion that has been done, it can be concluded that there is a relationship between body morphometrics (body length, chest circumference, and shoulder height) to the body weight of male sakub sheep.

Abstract

Pakan merupakan salah satu faktor dalam usaha peternakan, sehingga ketersediaan pakan harus berkesinambungan. Permasalahan ketersediaan pakan secara mandiri dan pakan yang kurang berkualitas merupakan masalah yang dialami oleh peternak domba dan kambing di desa Banjarsari Wetan, Kecamatan Sumbang, Kabupaten Banyumas. Daerah tersebut memiliki potensi hijauan yang cukup sehingga diperlukan kegiatan untuk meningkatkan kesejahteraan peternak. Menjaga ketersediaan pakan diperlukan upaya untuk mengembangkan metode penyimpanan hijauan dalam jangka waktu tertentu. Salah satu upaya untuk mengatasi kekurangan pakan apalagi saat musim kemarau adalah dengan mengawetkan hijauan dalam bentuk silase. Silase merupakan pakan ternak yang dapat dibuat dari berbagai macam limbah pertanian dan jenis hijauan. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk memberikan peternak pengetahuan dan keterampilan tentang cara menggunakan pakan silase untuk mempertahankan produktivitas ternak dan menjaga ketersediaan pakan untuk waktu yang lama. Metode pelaksanaan adalah dengan pendidikan masyarakat, melalui sosialisasi (Penyuluhan) pengenalan teknologi preservasi silase dan pelatihan, praktik pembuatan silase. Kegiatan berjalan dengan lancar dan baik yang diikuti oleh 25 peternak domba dan kambing dengan berbagai umur. Indikator keberhasilan PKM dapat dilihat dari silase yang dihasilkan saat praktik pembuatan silase menghasilkan silase yang beraroma segar, warna hijau kecokelatan dan tidak terdapat jamur. Hal ini merupakan ciri silase yang baik dan mengandung nutrisi yang tinggi untuk memenuhi kebutuhan pakan ternak. Sehingga dapat dikatakan program ini telah berhasil meningkatkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan peternak untuk mengaplikasikan teknologi preservasi pakan silase.

Abstract

Klebsiella pneumoniae is one of the most common pathogens in nosocomial respiratory infections. Antibiotics are often used for the treatment of K. pneumoniae infections. Increased bacterial resistance to antibiotics is closely related to the success rate of infectious disease therapy. The use of plants as phytopharmacology is currently an alternative treatment. Some medicinal plants that have antibacterial and immunomodulatory activity are Sambiloto (Andrographis paniculata) with an active compound called andrographol. The purpose of this study was to provide a solution to the problem above by developing a phytopharmaceutical using bitter extract to inhibit the growth of K. pneumoniae bacteria. Two sputum samples from the laboratory confirmed Covid-19 patients with pneumonia infection at the Hospital. The sambiloto was extracted by using 96% ethanol. The extract was further analyzed for its antimicrobial activity and phytochemical compounds. There were two K. pneumoniae isolates, namely KpRNG and KpTRI. The active compounds were saponin and steroids. The antimicrobial activity of the ginger extract was measured with different concentrations of 25%, 50%, 75%, and 100%. Its inhibitory zone against K. pneumoniae was ranging from 5.8 to 7 mm or had a moderate inhibition category.
