Abstract

Abstract A manufacturing company which its production based on customer's customization order commonly employs Make-To-Order system. The classical problem of this system is that uncertainty of the order receipt schedule and the various degree of customization. Thus, it leads to an improper production schedule or under-optimal. This study aims to analyze the maximum production capacity of the company so that it can provide a recommendation for scheduling improvement. In this paper, the study case is carried out to a company which produces the various tools for military needs, such as weapons, ammunition, and combat vehicle. By means of the deterministic scheduling method, the optimal sequence of a military vehicle can be determined. Then, to represent the job priority order as well as to estimate the job completion duration, the network diagram is used. The result is then used as a reference to construct the production schedule simulation sequentially. It is intended to observe the interval time among production schedule. The experimental results of maximum production capacity calculation show that the company is able to produce at maximum 150 unit vehicles per year. Keywords: scheduling; production; deterministic method; Abstrak Perusahaan manufaktur yang memproduksi berdasarkan kustomisasi permintaan pelanggan biasa menerapkan sistem Make-To-Order. Abstract

Abstract— The logistics business is expected to soar significantly, for which will reach 30 percent by 2020, driven by the growth of transaction of e-commerce. This growth, indeed, requires an apparent concern from the transporter logistics to continuously enhance their performance. On the other hand, the performance of logistics transporters will provide a positive contribution to the increase of LPI (Logistics Performance Index) score of Indonesia. Thus, the development of performance measurement systems is necessary to maintain the competitiveness level of logistic actors. This study provides a comprehensive overview of performance measurement systems in regard to the 3PL (third party logistics) companies. The goal of this study is to develop such a conceptual framework that portrays the essential elements necessary to take into account when implementing performance monitoring system to the 3PL companies. The conceptual framework is established using grounded-theory approach which comprises of four main steps: collecting and mapping data sources, categorizing the data, identifying and naming concepts, and establishing a conceptual model. The framework itself, is constructed into two main stages: 1) developing KPIs, 2) measuring the performance. To exhibit the applicability of the proposed approach, a numerical experiment is provided. This research has two main contributions. First, the study fills the theoretical gap pertaining to the concept of performance assessment systems in case of 3PL companies. Second, in practical view the proposed conceptual framework contributes to the academia by describing the basis of establishing performance monitoring as well as to the practitioners who wish to better measure performance in the transporter logistics.

Abstract

Energy consumption has been increasing affected by many factors such as population growth, energy price, etc. This paper utilizes data analysis to examine energy consumption data and its correlation the GDP growth, particularly in case of Indonesia. The data observed in this study comprises a record from 1961-2018. An exploratory data analysis was employed to comprehend the features of the data, while beforehand a pre-processing and testing were conducted to prepare the data. Data visualization was built then a Spearman correlation rank was also performed to see the association among variables. The result shows that the energy consumption is dominated by fossil generated energy i.e. oil, coal, gas. Meanwhile, the renewable energy was started to use since early 2000 with a huge leap of consumption on solar energy. The result of correlation ranking indicates that the energy consumption and the GPD growth has no significant association as the rank value is negative and the p-value is greater than the chosen significant level. Thus, we can conclude that the higher energy consumption does not directly affect the increase in GDP.

Abstract

The excellence of service provided by library serve as essential factors for maintaining student’s engagement and motivation in learning. However, the number of accredited libraries, indicating their quality, is relatively low. This paper aims to measure the service quality of a library owned by higher education institution in accordance with accreditation standards. Servqual (Service Quality) approach was employed with 20 distinct indicators derived from accreditation criteria. The respondents were students from a private university in Indonesia, accounting for 120. The method was followed by semi-structured interview for confirmatory analysis purpose. The findings reveal that 55% of the indicators rejected the null hypothesis, showing a negative gap between reality and expectations, which indicates a need for improvement. Quadrant-based mapping was utilised to identify the priority areas for improvement. Furthermore, list of recommendation based on accreditation component is provided, facilitating practical improvement steps for the library management.

Abstract

Fairly tight competition in telecommunication business requires companies to continue improving the quality of their services, including handling network problems or customer complaints. However, the amount of disturbance that occurs is often unpredictable. Indeed, this condition will impact the allocation of resources and budget for handling customer disturbances in the following period, with uncertainty. This research aims to apply the moving average (MA) and single exponential smoothing (SES) forecasting methods to predict the number of internet service disruptions. The case study used in this paper is an internet service provider company with service coverage in the northern part of Surabaya. The number of disturbances data was collected from January 2022 to May 2022, with 18,453 data in total. The disturbances can be divided into five types: physical, mass, logical, PSB/migration, and others. Forecasting is carried out using the MA method with a period of three months. Meanwhile, forecasting using the SES method was carried out by first determining the alpha value that produces the smallest Mean Absolute Percentage Error (MAPE) value. The analysis results show that both forecasting methods are relatively effective and efficient in estimating the number of disturbances. Forecasting performance testing was carried out by measuring the Mean Absolute Deviation (MAD), Mean Square Error (MSE), and Mean Absolute Percentage Error (MAPE) values. The results of forecasting performance measurements show that the SES method is much better than MA for all types of disturbance data, with MAPE values below 2%.
