Abstract

This research examines in depth the methodology of interpreting the Al-Qur’an by focusing on the elaboration of the ijmāli interpretation method. Tafsir ijmāli, as a method of interpreting the Al-Qur’an, offers a concise and global approach in understanding the meaning of the verses of the Al-Qur’an. The main aim of this research is to analyze the characteristics, advantages and challenges in applying the ijmāli interpretation method, as well as offering a discourse on the development of this method. The methodology used in this research is descriptive qualitative with a literature study approach. Primary data was obtained from tafsir books that use the ijmāli method as well as various literature about this tafsir method. Data analysis was carried out through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of the research show that the ijmāli exegesis method has the advantage of presenting the meaning of the Al-Qur’an practically and is easily understood by various groups. However, this method also faces challenges in elaborating the deeper and more complex meaning of certain verses. The conclusion of this research confirms that the ijmāli exegesis method remains relevant and important in contemporary Al-Qur’an interpretation discourse, but needs to be integrated with other interpretive methods to provide a more comprehensive understanding of the Al-Qur’an. It is hoped that this research can contribute to the development of the methodology for interpreting the Al-Qur’an and enrich the treasures of interpretive science through the offerings provided.

Abstract

This study aims to discuss the transformation of Tafsir bi al-ra’yi: its history, methodological boundaries, and the dynamics of scholarly debates. The research employs a qualitative approach using a descriptive-analytical method. Tafsir bi al-ra’yi is an interpretative method of the Qur’an based on ijtihad, which emerged in the 3rd century Hijri, particularly during the Abbasid era, to address the demands of the times. This method must be carried out by knowledgeable interpreters adhering to the principles of tafsir to ensure alignment with the Qur’an, Sunnah, and ijma’ of the scholars. While it allows intellectual freedom, it remains constrained to avoid subjective desires. Scholars have differing views: some support it as a necessary form of ijtihad, while others reject it due to concerns about conflicting with definitive texts (nash qath’i). This study concludes that Tafsir bi al-ra’yi plays a significant role in enriching the understanding of the Qur’an but emphasizes that its application must balance methodological caution and respect for the authority of the Qur’anic text.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to analyze the Islamic perspective on the practice of human slavery through verses from the Qur'an. This is done because human slavery and human trafficking are still widespread today. The method used in this study is literature analysis with a historical and phenomenological approach. The focus of this research covers modern slavery in the form of human trafficking, which is considered a determining factor in the existence of slavery in modern times. This research is also supported by data and strengthened by previous studies. The study concludes that initially the Qur'an acknowledged and accepted slavery because it was a reality that had existed for a long time. Therefore, it was impossible to eliminate it instantly and revolutionary, but in subsequent stages it was gradually reduced. This began with liberation from the practice through psychological, theological, and economic approaches, followed by the stage of physical liberation. Finally, it calls for the abolition and prevention of slavery. The Qur'an prohibits the practice of slavery in any form. The sources used were verses from the Qur'an, Hadith, and books of Tafsir, as well as national and international laws and regulations related to the prohibition of human trafficking.

Abstract

This article discusses the differences between classical and contemporary interpretations regarding the law on child marriage and the provisions on bulugh al-nikah (marriage age limit). The purpose of this article is to examine and describe the verses that describe child marriage, how classical interpretations tend to be gender biased and contemporary gender-just interpretations of bulugh al-nikah appear. This type of research is library research (library research) with descriptive analysis methods. Data collection by collecting verses that indicate child marriage and analyzing the views of classical scholars and feminist figures. This research found that classical ulama did not stipulate bulugh al-nikah. Bulugh al-nikah in surah al-Nisa verse 6 transactions with puberty in the context of managing the assets of orphans and scholars of the four schools of thought does not make baligh and 'aqil a condition for a valid marriage. This classic view is found in surah al-Thalaq verse 4 regarding the 'iddah period of women who have not yet menstruated and the history of the marriage of the Prophet Muhammad Saw and Siti Aisyah who was still 6 years old. Meanwhile, feminist interpretations prohibit child marriages featuring feminist figures such as Husein Muhamad, Musdah Mulia and Badriyah Fayumi. They established the bulugh al-nikah. According to them, puberty is not only related to biological aspects, but also having readiness, maturity and maturity both physically, financially and mentally as preparations for living the household. Their view is based on the purpose or maqashid of marriage sharia which is explained by other verses, such as surah al-Rum verse 21 and surah al-Nisa verse 9 that marriage is not limited to physical and biological relations, but reaches the central institution, namely a happy family in bondage. . the holy (mitsaqan ghaliza).
