Abstract

Correct pronunciation is a crucial aspect of learning English that is often challenging for many students. Traditional methods of teaching pronunciation usually need to be more interesting and exciting for students, so a more innovative and interactive approach is required. This research aims to determine the effectiveness of the Spelling Bee in improving students' speaking pronunciation. This quantitative method uses quasi-experimental research applied to ninth-grade junior high school students. This research uses an experimental group and a control group. The experimental group consisted of 22 students of 10 men and 12 women, while the control group consisted of 22 students of 13 men and 9 women. In collecting data, pretest and posttest were used to determine the improvement in students' speaking pronunciation. The data analysis technique uses inferential statistical analysis. The research results show that the Spelling Bee can be an effective strategy in helping EFL students improve their pronunciation skills. This research implies that research contributes to improving the quality of English language teaching and learning and the development of professionalism of teaching staff in the language field.

Abstract

Games are one way to make learning vocabulary fun, especially with attractive games such as Word search, Wordwall, Crossword, and Scramble. By using the meta-analysis research aimed at reviewing the effect of word search games, wordwall, crossword, and scramble games to improve student vocabulary. The results of the research observed as much as 54 eligible data with the number of participants (N), F-count, t-count and r-count. Data analysis conducted with JASP software simulation shows that the effect of Word Search, Wordwall, Crossword, and Scramble for vocabulary learning is 83% significant, that is in the high category. Based on the Forest Plot, Crosswords have the highest influence value of 1.04% more than word search, wordwall, and scramble this indicate that Crossword games are more effective in learning vocabulary. Subsequently, viewed from the variety of participants, participants with less than (40) have the highest effect with an estimate value of (1.009). The results of this research provide strong evidence regarding the effect of the games in improve students' vocabulary learning. The practical use of these findings can be maximized by educators and adopt policies in designing more effective learning to improve students' vocabulary in learning English.

Abstract

The Viola-Jones algorithm is one algorithm that is often used to detect faces. The human face recognition system is an important technology that functions as a security system, control system, and others. This is in accordance with the research objectives, namely to determine the application of the Viola-Jones algorithm in detecting the faces of students and teachers at SMK IDN Boarding School. This research aims to develop a student and teacher attendance system at IDN Boarding School Jonggol using face recognition technology with the Viola-Jones algorithm. The developed attendance system aims to increase the effectiveness and efficiency in managing the attendance of students and teachers. Then identify attendance by comparing face images registered in the system database. The application used by the face recognition program is PyCharm Community 2023 Version 1.4 with the macOS operating system. The test used various expressions totaling 200 images of 20 people. The percentage of successful face recognition process is 95%. Some factors that affect the success of recognition are lighting, face distance and face position.

Abstract

Untuk menyelesaikan permasalahan tersebut, maka dapat diterapkan metode sistem pendukung keputusan. Salah satu metode yang dapat digunakan adalah metode Adaptive Neuro Fuzzy Inference System. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan sistem informasi terkomputerisasi yang mencakup proses pencatatan data dan penyusunan laporan. Tools yang digunakan untuk melakukan analisis dan desain adalah data flow diagram. Sedangkan, bahasa pemrograman yang digunakan untuk merancang sistem adalah bahasa VB.NET dan database menggunakan aplikasi SQL Server sebagai database engine. Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah sistem pendukung keputusan yang terkomputerisasi yang dapat digunakan untuk menentukan proses promosi karyawan.

Abstract

This research aimed to analyze the influence of the principal's leadership style, motivation and work environment on teacher performance, and determine which variables are most strongly affect the performance of teachers. The study population was 48 teachers of SMK Heritage I Jakarta and the entire population of the research sample. The result is the percentage of variables influence the leadership style of the principal (X1) to variable teacher performance that is equal to 36.9% and the correlation coefficient of 0.541 ry1, the influence of work motivation (X2) to variable performance of teachers is 31.6% and the correlation coefficient ry2 amounted to 0.615, the influence of the working environment (X3) on teacher performance variable that is equal to 38.8% and the correlation coefficient of 0.567 ry3, when compared to the three turned out to be the working environment have a greater influence. Simultaneously the dependent variable of teacher performance is determined by the independent variables jointly by 58.2%. That is 100% - 58.2% = 41.8% of teacher performance is influenced by other factors outside of the independent variables in this research.

Abstract

Despite a wealth of research on the acquisition of English reading skills, few studies have focused on the process from the perspective of learners’ experiences and cognitive strategies, especially within an English as a Foreign Language (EFL) context. A significant portion of existing research relies on established models rather than extracting insights directly from students, which creates a gap in understanding the development of reading proficiency in actual academic environments. This study seeks to create a grounded theory of English reading skill acquisition by exploring the experiences, challenges, and strategies of EFL learners. Utilizing a constructivist grounded theory methodology, data was gathered via semi-structured interviews with thirty undergraduate students across various proficiency levels (beginner, intermediate, and advanced) and ten English language instructors. The analysis employed the constant comparative method, which included open coding to identify themes, axial coding to recognize relationships, and selective coding to construct a theoretical framework. Results indicate that students face obstacles such as limited vocabulary, complicated sentence structures, cultural unfamiliarity, and reading anxiety, while utilizing strategies like skimming, scanning, predicting meanings, summarizing, and applying translation tools. Instructors highlight the necessity of explicit instruction in reading strategies and scaffolding techniques to aid learners. The study concludes that effective reading instruction should combine strategy-based learning with techniques to alleviate anxiety, ensuring that teaching methods are in tune with students’ cognitive processes to improve reading proficiency in higher education EFL settings

Abstract

Pelatihan perbaikan sepeda motor merupakan salah satu bentuk pengabdian kepada masyarakat yang bertujuan untuk meningkatkan keterampilan teknis dan kemandirian ekonomi warga khususnya peningkatan kompetensi dalam melakukan perbaikan sepeda motor dan peluang wirausaha dalam bidang jasa perbaikan dan penjualan spare part sepeda motor. Kegiatan ini dilaksanakan di Desa Bonde Utara, Kecamatan Pamboang, Kabupaten Majene. Metode pelatihan yang digunakan adalah Pelatihan pemahaman teori dasar mesin metode praktik langsung yang melibatkan warga dalam proses pembongkaran dan perbaikan komponen sepeda motor. Hasil dari kegiatan ini menunjukkan adanya peningkatan pengetahuan dan keterampilan warga dalam melakukan perawatan dan perbaikan ringan kendaraan bermotor. Kegiatan ini diharapkan mampu membuka peluang usaha baru bagi peserta pelatihan.

Abstract

Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan keterampilan dramatic reading pada siswa SMA Negeri 3 Takalar, guna mendukung pengembangan kemampuan berbahasa, pemahaman teks, kepercayaan diri, serta mendorong kolaborasi dan kreativitas. Melalui pelatihan yang terdiri dari pemberian materi dan praktik langsung, siswa diharapkan dapat mengatasi kendala seperti kurangnya rasa percaya diri dan pemahaman teks yang terbatas. Metode yang diterapkan mencakup penyusunan materi pembelajaran, pemilihan naskah yang relevan, serta evaluasi terhadap keterlibatan siswa dan guru. Hasil evaluasi menunjukkan peningkatan signifikan dalam kemampuan verbal siswa, pemahaman teks yang lebih mendalam, serta kepercayaan diri dalam berbicara di depan umum. Selain itu, kolaborasi dan kreativitas siswa dalam penginterpretasian peran juga meningkat. Program ini memberikan dampak positif terhadap kondisi pembelajaran di kelas, dengan siswa yang lebih aktif dan antusias, serta keterlibatan aktif dari guru dan kepala sekolah. Dengan demikian, kegiatan ini berhasil mencapai tujuan yang telah ditetapkan, memberikan kontribusi besar terhadap peningkatan kualitas pembelajaran di SMA Negeri 3 Takalar.

Abstract

This research discusses legal protection for victims of criminal acts according to Law Number 16 of 2011 concerning Legal Aid. Although legal aid is very important and needed for victims of criminal acts, its application is still limited, especially litigation legal aid for victims, which results in many victims of criminal acts not getting legal aid assistance. The provisions in Law Number 16 of 2011 limit the provision of litigation legal aid only to suspects, defendants, and convicts, resulting in victims being neglected. This research aims to explore efforts to provide legal aid for victims based on Law Number 16 of 2011 concerning Legal Aid and the importance of legal protection assistance for victims of criminal acts.

Abstract

Aljabar hiperstruktur merupakan perluasan dari struktur aljabar klasik. Pada struktur aljabar klasik, operasi antara dua unsur merupakan unsur, sedangkan dalam aljabar hiperstruktur operasi antara dua unsur merupakan suatu himpunan. Aljabar hiperstruktur memiliki banyak penerapan dalam disiplin ilmu lain khususnya terkait dengan pewarisan genetik. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menentukan aljabar hiperstruktur yang berkaitan dengan masalah pewarisan genetik terutama dalam persilangan warna bunga Mirabilis Jalapa dengan dua hiperoperasi yang berbeda. Pendefinisian hiperoperasi pada hasil persilangan tersebut memberikan hiperstruktur aljabar yang berbeda-beda. Pada kasus hiperoperasi pertama, hiperstruktur aljabar yang diperoleh adalah -semi grup. Pada kasus hiperoperasi kedua, hiperstruktur aljabar yang diperoleh adalah semi hipergrup, hipergrup, dan - grup. Namun, pendefinisian hiperoperasi yang berbeda dari kasus yang diberikan dapat memberikan aljabar hiperstruktur lainnya.
