Abstract

Digital learning is one way to overcome learning during a pandemic. There are several platforms that teachers can use in carrying out learning such as WhatsApp, YouTube and Google Classroom. This mixed method research aims to find out how were the teachers’ implementation of digital learning and how were EFL learners’ perception on teaching activities through digital learning of English. This research was conduct at Senior High School YPI Tunas Bangsa of Palembang. There were several samples including principal, one English teachers and eighty students’. The data obtained from interview, questionnaire, and documentation. Analyzed by using data reduction, data display and conclusion. The results showed that the implementation of platform and the students’ perception of learning English through digital technology. This research is expected to be one of the solutions to improve the way teachers implement learning through student perceptions.

Abstract

In Indonesia, English has become a lesson that must be learned and has many enthusiasts. However, can English lessons be used to integrate character education. This descriptive qualitative method research aims to find about character education that can be integrate in teaching English, teaching materials that can be used and how the teachers integrate character education in teaching English. This research was conducted at Junior High School 4 of Tungkal Jaya. Informants of this research were English teachers and students at grade eight. The data obtained from observation, interview and documentation and analyzed using a qualitative analysis process by using data reduction, display and conclusion. Findings of this research showed that: there are only eight characters education that can be integrated in teaching English, this eight characters education were integrated by using teaching material “One Direction song, History which tells about togetherness and friendship” and integrated by carry out teaching in accordance with the existing syllabus and lesson plans. This research provide information to English teachers about the integrating of character education in teaching activities.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan implementasi manajemen model teaching factory di SMK Negeri 2 Palembang. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan menggunakan wawancara, observasi dan studi dokumentasi. Data hasil penelitian dianalisis dengan mereduksi data, mendisplay data dan memverivikasi data. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa implementasi manajemen model teaching factory di jurusan desain pemodelan dan interior bangunan SMK Negeri 2 Palembang mulai dari perencanaan, pengorganisasaian, pelaksanaan, evaluasi dan tindak lanjut sudah terlaksana dengan baik. Siswa sudah mampu merancang dan membuat model desain pemodelan dan informasi bangunan sesuai dengan project yang diberikan pembimbing. Pembimbing hanya berperan sebagai fasilitator dalam memberikan bimbingan dan pengarahan kepada siswa. Evaluasi model teaching factory dilaksanakan dengan kegiatan pemeriksaan terhadap hasil produk oleh ketua program keahlian, jika ketua program keahlian sudah menganggap bahwa hasil produk sudah baik, maka ketua jurusan atau ketua program akan meneruskan hasil kerja untuk diperiksa oleh kepala sekolah. Evaluasi manajemen model teaching factory dilakukan untuk mengetahui keberhasilan program yang telah direncanakan dan dilaksanakan dan digunakan juga untuk membuat perencanaan program selanjutnya. Implementasi tindaklanjut manajemen model teaching factory sudah terlaksana dengan baik

Abstract

The aims of this study were to figure out the correlation between: a) students’ metacognitive reading strategies and their reading achievement, b) students’ reading interest and their reading achievement, and c) the students’ metacognitive reading strategies, reading interest, and their reading achievement of descriptive text. This research also analyzed the contributions of independent variables toward students’ reading achievement. There were 130 students of the eighth grade involved as the samples and were selected through simple random sampling. This study employed quantitative method of correlational research design. Two questionnaires and one reading test were used to collect the data. The data obtained were analyzed by using Simple Correlation of r-Product Moment and Multiple Regression analysis. The analysis of the data showed that there was a 4.1% contribution of the students’ metacognitive reading strategies to their reading achievement, with a sig. value of 0.02 and being less than 0.05. Reading interest contributed 7.8% toward students' reading achievement, with the correlation between reading interest and reading achievement being 0.01, which was lower than 0.05. The correlations among metacognitive reading strategies, reading interest, and reading achievement were 0.003, which was less than 0.05, and both metacognitive reading strategies and reading interest contributed 8.5% to students' reading achievement. Thus, it can be stated that there were correlations among the eighth grade students at SMP Negeri 39 Palembang's metacognitive reading strategies, reading interest, and reading achievement.

Abstract

Perkembangan dunia Pendidikan mengharuskan seorang guru mampu membuat karya ilmiah. Salah satu karya ilmiah yang disarankan untuk meningkatkan kualitas guru dan kualitas pembelajaran adalah penulisan artikel ilmiah. Seorang guru agar menjadi guru yang profesional berarti guru tersebut harus selalu melaksanakan penelitian dan pembuatan artikel ilmiah. Tema pelatihan ini adalah Penulisan Artikel Ilmiah bagi Guru-Guru di SMPN 1 Sembawa Banyuasin. Metode yang digunakan dalam kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini adalah pemaparan materi, diskusi dan tanya jawab, serta demonstrasi menulis artikel ilmiah dan mencari jurnal terakreditasi Sinta. Berdasarkan hasil pengamatan, peserta pelatihan tampak antusias dan aktif selama kegiatan berlangsung. Hal ini dapat dilihat dari banyaknya pertanyaan yang diajukan peserta pelatihan kepada pemateri sebagai bentuk ketertarikan mereka terhadap Penulisan Artikel Ilmiah. Penulisan artikel ilmiah ini sangat berguna bagi guru-guru untuk mengurus kepangkatan ke golongan yang lebih tinggi.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan antara sifat keterbukaan kepribadian dan kemampuan membaca pada siswa kelas 11 di SMA Negeri 13 palembang. Terdapat 114 siswa yang menjadi sampel pada penelitian ini. Teknik pengambilan data menggunakan kuisoner sifat keterbukaan, kuisioner motivasi dan soal pilihan ganda untuk mengetahui kemampuan membaca siswa. Dalam menganalis data pada penlitian ini menggunakan uji korelasi dan uji regressi berganda. Temuan pada penelitian ini yang di uji dengan menggunakan uji regressi berganda menunjukan nilai signifikansi 0.01 lebih kecil dari 0.05. Artinya, ada hubungan yang signifikan antara sifat keterbukaan, motivasi dan kemampuan membaca pada siswa kelas 11 di SMA Negeri 13 Palembang Hasil correlation coeficient menunjukan bahwa r = 0,285 menunjukan hubungan ke tiga variable tersebut dalam katagori korelasi rendah.

Abstract

The problem of this study was “Was it effective to use Six Thinking Hats Strategy in teaching reading narrative text to the eighth grade students of PGRI Junior High School 9 of Palembang?” The aim of this study was to find out whether or not it was effective to use Six Thinking Hats strategy in teaching reading narrative text to the eighth grade students of PGRI Junior High School 9 of Palembang.The population was the eighth grade students of PGRI Junior High School 9 of Palembang in academic year of 2018/2019. The sample was 36 students who were chosen by cluster random sampling. This study employed Pre- experimental design with the one-group pretest-posttest design. The data were collected through written test in form of Multiple choice which implemented in pre-test and post-test. The data were analyzed by using matched t-test formula.The result of the study is found that the students’ average score in the         pre-test was 47,57 and the students’ average score in the post-test was 73,68. Based on the matched t-test calculation, it was found that the t-obtained was 4,854. The critical value of 5% significance level was 1.690. It showed that the      t-obtained was higher than the t-table. From this study it was found that teaching reading narrative text by using Six Thinking Hats strategy to the eighth grade students of PGRI Junior High School 9 of Palembang was effective.

Abstract

The main problem of this study is  “What were the eleventh grade students’ perception on the use Johnny grammar’s word challenge application in learning prepositions and the impact of Johnny grammar’s word challenge application the eleventh grade at PGRI Vocational High School 2 of Palembang?”. This study aimed to investigate the eleventh grade students’ perception on the use Johnny grammar’s word challenge application in learning prepositions at PGRI Vocational High School 2 of Palembang. This data acquired from questionnaires based on four indicators, this research used a descriptive qualitative method in this study. Based on the achievement of the questionnaire, it can be concluded that all indicator high category shows that amounts to 9 (16.36%) students which means the students have comprehension ability is fair, the indicator medium category shows that amounts to 41(74.54%) students which means all of the students understand Johnny Grammar’s Word Challenge Application and the low category shows that amounts to 11 (20%) students which means the students half of them can not able to understand Johnny Grammar’s Word Challenge Application. So, it can be concluded that using Johnny Grammar’s Word Challenge Application can help students learn prepositions

Abstract

The objective of this research aims to find out whether or not significant correlation between parents’ education and the parents’ involvement, parents’ education and the twelfth graders’ English achievement , parents’ involvement and the twelfth graders’ English achievement , and parents’ education parent’s involvement and the twelfth graders’ English achievement of SMAN 5 Prabumulih academic year of 2019/2020 which consisted of six classes. A quantitative method used in this research also used a stratified random sampling methods. There are two kinds of data will be analyzed. The first is questionnaire and the second is the data of documents. There was any significant influence because significant output (0,000) was lower than the mean of significant influence at 0.05 levels. It could be concluded that there were any significant influence of parents’ education and parents’ involvement toward English achievement.

Abstract

The objectives of the study are to find out whether or not(1) There is  significant influence of extensive reading towards students’ reading comprehension between those who have height reading interest and those who have low reading interest at the eleventh grade students of SMA Negeri 1 Tulung Selapan (2) There is significant influence of conventional reading strategy toward the eleventh grade students’ reading comprehension between who those have high reading interest and those who have low reading interest at the eleventh grade students of SMA Negeri 1 Tulung Selapan. (3) There is significant influence of extensive reading strategy and conventional reading strategy towards the eleventh grade students’ reading comprehension between  those who have high reading interest and those who have low reading interest at the eleventh grade students of SMA Negeri 1 Tulung Selapan.(4) There is significant interaction effect of extensive reading strategy and reading interest on students’ reading comprehension at the eleventh grade students of SMA Negeri 1 Tulung Selapan. This study used Saphiro-Wilk test and it used Levene's test in testing the homogenity. It was found that the significance value for homogeneity test (Levene’s test) was 0.021 which is lower than 0.05, therefore the data was not considered homogeny, so the writers took the equal variances not assumed on t-test. Next, the significance value  for t-test was 0.000. It showed that there was a significant difference of extensive reading strategy and no treatment reading strategy on the eleventh grade students’ reading comprehension who have low reading interest because the sig. value  was lower than 0.05. That means the null hypothesis (Ho3b) is rejected.
