Abstract

Learning interest plays important role in studying. Low interest may affect students’ learning success. The author used animated videos as an Arabic learning platform to determine the use of animated video in learning Arabic, and determine the supporting and inhibiting factors in the use of it in MTs Almaarif 02 Singosari Malang. This study employs a qualitative descriptive method with data collection techniques through observation, interviews, questionnaires, and documentation. The sample is 28 students. The data analysis techniques are data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The study results are: (1) this platform can increase students' interest in learning Arabic; (2) the supporting factors include: stimulating students' enthusiasm and motivation; assisting students to learn and memorize; and assisting teachers to present the material; (3) the inhibiting factors are: insufficient student network and internet limitations; not all material can be presented in the form of animated videos; and making animated videos requires sufficient skills

Abstract

Dictionaries are one of the means of finding vocabulary, especially in foreign languages. Besides, the dictionary also provides other information related to phonology, syntax, semantics, maps, profiles of a person, and others. Although not all dictionaries collect all the information needed by the user. But with a dictionary, it becomes easier to understand a word. The purpose of this study was to compile Kamus Akbar Bahasa Arab (KABA), Al-'Ashri, and Al-Bisri seen from the point of view of lexicography through comparative scalpels by looking at the aspects of the purpose, content, and shape of the three components of the dictionary. Besides, the author also described the similarities and differences among the three dictionaries. This study used a qualitative descriptive method. This type of research is a library research with research objects were Kamus Akbar Arabic (KABA), Al-'Asri, and Al-Bisri. Data collection used of this study was documentation and recording techniques. The data were analyzed using comparative methods. The results of this study showed that the three dictionaries had their advantages and disadvantages. However, observers or Arabic learners can choose one of these three dictionaries according to their purpose

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the cooperative think pair share learning model to improve writing skills in grades VIII A and VIII B SMP Muhammadiyah 06 Malang. In this study, researchers used a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental type and a non-equivalent control group design. This study uses the purposive sampling technique. The population is all students at SMP Muhammadiyah 6 Malang, totaling 105 students. The sample consists of 2 classes, namely class VIII A, which is an experimental class that applies the cooperative think pair share learning model. Class VIII B is a control class using lecture methods. The data source is taken from student tests and interview results. Data collection methods use observations, interviews, tests, and documentation. The data analysis techniques used for this study are independent sample t-test and effectiveness test or N-Gain test. The study results obtained a significant difference between the average grades of students before and after the implementation of the think pair share learning model. This can be seen from the average value of the control class of 65.43 while the average value of the experiment class is 76.86 so it can be known that the average value of the experimental class > the control class. The next result uses the N-Gain formula, obtained by 45 with a moderate category. In this case, it can be concluded that the cooperative think pair share learning model is effective in improving writing skills in class VIII A SMP Muhammadiyah 06 Malang.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the factors that cause Arabic learning problems in students of the Arabic Language Development Programme FAI UMM and to find out the efforts in solving these problems. The object of this research is PBA A class students in the even semester, 2019/2020 academic year and lecturers who teach in the class. This research method is qualitative with the type of case study research. Data collection techniques were observation and interview. Data analysis used the descriptive analysis method. The results showed four problematic factors: (1) student factors, including educational background and motivation. (2) lecturers' factors include minimisation in Arabic, methods, and learning media. (3) social factors and infrastructure include the campus environment and facilities. (4) psychological factors, which include self-confidence. The efforts made at PPBA FAI UMM to overcome these problems, namely creating a pleasant classroom atmosphere, always using media when learning takes place, and lecturers making it a habit to use Arabic in the Arabic language learning process so that students get used to speaking Arabic. There are differences in the abilities and backgrounds of each student with one another, so the lecturer is ready to provide more guidance. They use media/props to explain and make it easier to convey language-learning material. Asbtrak Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui faktor penyebab problematika pembelajaran bahasa Arab pada mahasiswa Program Pengembangan Bahasa Arab FAI UMM dan mengetahui upaya dalam memecahkan problematika tersebut. Objek penelitian ini ialah mahasiswa kelas PBA A pada semester genap, tahun ajaran 2019/2020 dan dosen yang mengajar pada kelas tersebut. Metode penelitian ini adalah kualitatif dengan jenis penelitian studi kasus. Teknik pengumpulan data berupa observasi dan wawancara. Analisis data menggunakan metode deskriptif analisis. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya empat faktor problematika, yaitu: (1) faktor mahasiswa yang meliputi latar belakang pendidikan dan motivasi. (2) faktor dari dosen yang meliputi minimalisasi dalam berbahasa Arab, metode, dan media pembelajaran. (3) faktor sosial dan sarana prasarana yang meliputi lingkungan di kampus dan fasilitas. (4) faktor psikologis yang meliputi kepercayaan diri. Adapun upaya yang dilakukan di PPBA FAI UMM untuk mengatasi problematika tersebut, yaitu: menciptakan suasana kelas yang menyenangkan, selalu menggunakan media saat pembelajaran berlangsung dan dosen membiasakan menggunakan bahasa Arab dalam proses pembelajaran bahasa Arab sehingga mahasiswa terbiasa dengan berbahasa Arab. Adanya perbedaan kemampuan dan latar belakang setiap mahasiswa yang satu dengan yang lainnya, maka dosen siap memberi bimbingan lebih. Menggunakan media/alat peraga untuk menjelaskan dan mempermudah dalam menyampaikan materi pembelajaran bahasa Arab

Abstract

Persistent underachievement in Arabic language learning particularly within post-COVID-19 online learning environments remains a critical concern. This study explores the impact of Kinemaster-based audiovisual media on improving Arabic learning outcomes among seventh-grade students at Al-Irsyad Junior High School in Banyuwangi, East Java. Positioned within the growing discourse on technology-integrated pedagogy, the research evaluates how digital media tools influence student engagement and academic success. Employing a quantitative associative design with pretest-posttest methodology, data were gathered from 23 students through observations, tests, questionnaires, and documentation. Statistical analysis via SPSS, including normality tests, paired sample T-tests, and N-Gain calculations, indicated a significant performance increase from a total posttest score of 1424 to 1882 with a significance value of 0.001. The N-Gain score of 52.28 categorized the improvement as moderately effective. These results affirm the pedagogical potential of Kinemaster-based audiovisual media in Arabic instruction, offering promising implications for fostering student-centered, multimedia-enhanced learning. Further investigations are recommended to assess scalability and the mediating role of individual learner characteristics.

Abstract

Surat Al Fatihah merupakan salah satu rukun dalam ibadah shalat, yang jika seseorang meninggalkannya dan atau membacanya dengan kesalahan yang fatal, akan berakibat pada keabsahan shalatnya,  seperti yang ditemukan di beberapa pemuda di Masjid Ihayul Qulub perum Tirtasani Royal Resort Kabupaten Malang. Maka untuk menghindari dan atau memperbaiki kesalahan tersebut, dibutuhkan adanya pelatihan tahsin, yakni memperbaiki, memperbagus, dan memperindah, yang berbasis ilmu tajwid dan ilmu ashwat. Pelatihan ini menggunakan metode ceramah dan talqin (peniruan). Hasil pelatihan Tahsin Surat Al Fatihah Berbasis Ilmul Ashwat dan Ilmu Tajwid ini berupa handout materi yang mencakup surat al Fatihah, kesalahan ringan dan kesalahan fatal, pandangan para ulama tentang keabsahan shalat orang yang salah dalam membaca surat Al Fatihah, berikut video penjelasan agar sewaktu-waktu bisa diakses di luar pelatihan. Pelatihan ini diikuti oleh 8 orang pemuda yang aktif shalat di masjid, serta beberapa lansia yang ikut mendengarkan. Setelah pelatihan diadakan para peserta telah bebas dari kesalahan fatal dalam membaca surat Al Fatihah.

Abstract

Istima' is one of the components of passive and active language skills. This study aims to determine the types of audio media and the learning process in Arabic listening or Istima' 2 learning for 2nd semester students of the Arabic Language Education program, Faculty of Islamic Studies, University of Muhammadiyah Malang. This study has a qualitative approach with a case study research type. This research was conducted at the University of Muhammadiyah Malang in the 2018/2019 academic year. The subjects of the study were 2nd semester students of the Arabic Language Education Study Program, class of 2018 who took the Arabic listening or Istima' 2 course, consisting of 2 classes, namely class A and class B. Data collection using observation sheets, interviews, and documentation. The data analysis stage is carried out by collecting the data that has been obtained and then analyzing it with general theories and concepts related to facts to correct or investigate the problem. The results of this study indicate that: (1) The type of media used by lecturers in the istima' learning process uses audio media in the form of Mp3. (2) The Istima' learning process consists of three stages: preparation, learning activities, and closure. The use of audio media in Istima' 2 learning involves playing audio three times, students note down vocabulary that is not yet understood, questions related to vocabulary that is not yet understood, lecturers provide exercises from the material being taught and finally, explanations related to the material contained in the audio.

Abstract

This study explores the phenomenon of Arabic diglossia specifically the coexistence and functional differentiation between fusha (formal) and ‘amiyah (informal) varieties in the instruction of speaking skills (kalām) at Markaz Arabiyah Pare, an Arabic learning center in Kediri, East Java, Indonesia. Centering on the Akbarnas (Akselerasi Bahasa Arab Nasional, National Arabic Language Acceleration) class program, the research seeks to identify the types, contexts, and underlying factors influencing diglossic language use in daily communicative practices. Situated within the broader discourse of sociolinguistics and Arabic language pedagogy, this study addresses a notable gap in empirical research concerning the implementation of diglossia within non-formal educational settings. Employing a qualitative descriptive approach, data were collected through observation, semi-structured interviews, and ethnographic documentation, and analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model. The findings demonstrate that fusha predominates in formal classroom instruction, while ‘amiyah is more commonly employed in informal, non-academic interactions thus enhancing students’ communicative adaptability. This dual usage reflects the institution’s language policy. It is also shaped by instructors’ backgrounds many studied in the Middle East and students’ prior exposure to Arabic-speaking contexts. The study concludes that integrating both varieties into instructional design fosters pragmatic competence and contextual fluency. These findings offer significant implications for Arabic language educators and curriculum developers seeking to bridge the divide between formal instruction and real-world language use.

Abstract

This study critically evaluates the implementation of the Activity-Based Learning (ABL) model in teaching Arabic paragraph writing to Arabic as a Foreign Language (AFL) students, as presented in the work of Sathikulameen et al. (2023) published in Ijaz Arabi. Adopting a qualitative library research approach, this study analyzes previously published materials, focusing on the ten-stage ABL writing framework used at The New College, Chennai, India. Data were obtained through document analysis and examined using interpretive content analysis to assess the instructional and pedagogical design. Three key critiques emerge from the Montessori perspective. First, the model overlooks psycholinguistic foundations by failing to prioritize vocabulary comprehension. Second, the linear writing process lacks sufficient repetition, a core component for skill acquisition. Third, the ABL approach restricts student autonomy in idea development and topic selection, contrary to Montessori principles of learner independence. The study concludes that the ABL model should be revised by integrating Montessori-informed practices to promote a more student-centered and developmentally appropriate approach to Arabic writing instruction for AFL learners.

Abstract

This research aimed to develop innovative learning media based on the qurtub.my.id website in Nahw learning, which made it easier for students to understand materials, questions and Arabic texts . The problem in this research was that the Nahw learning media used at Ar-Rohmah Integral High School of Malang still used less interesting learning media. This research method used Research and Development using the ADDIE development model, which consisted of five stages, namely, analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. The instruments used in this research were questionnaires, product feasibility sheets for material experts, language experts, and media experts, as well as assessments for Ar-Rohmah Integral High School students. Data collection methods comprised observation, interviews, and questionnaires. The research results indicated that, during the analysis stage, observation, interviews with subject teachers, and literature review were conducted. The design stage produced flowcharts, user interfaces, and user experience. During the development stage, product designs were created using Figma, and websites were built using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. The implementation stage, namely conducting product trials by material experts, resulted in a presentation score of 76% with valid criteria, while the presentation score was 76% from linguists with valid criteria and a value presentation of 52% from media experts with quite valid criteria. The final stage was an evaluation of conducting trials on students who got a presentation score of 82.93% with very valid criteria. Based on the results above, it can be concluded that overall, the developed product was "very suitable" for use in the learning processes.
