Abstract

T. Kardin Pisau Indonesia Company is a company that produces handmade knives with employees who specialize in their work. The company is trying to optimize the production of its knives by minimizing idle time which will ultimately increase employee productivity. The existence of different levels of difficulty in the workmanship causes an imbalance of work time between employees. The purpose of this study is to illustrate the role of line balancing strategies to optimize knife production in the Indonesian Knife company. The strategy used is that each employee does a different job to finish and then helps the work of other employees who have not finished. Line balancing method is an activity that aims to move one task from one person to another, which in turn creates a balance of time between workers at one station and workers at other stations. The results showed that using this strategy obtained a level of production efficiency of 79.02% for process 1 and .79.48% for process 2.

Abstract

Technology and internet has driven innovation and new opportunities by digitizing every customer, company, product, service, and process. In digital era, company has potential to touch all aspects of the business, including customers,  employees, partners,  business processes, and also global network of businesses and things from every industry around the world. Today, what will business leader do with digital business advantage has become a challange. The objective of this paper is to describe the concept of transformational leadership as a hallmark of future digital business leader. From evidence in literatures, in many successful organizations, transformational leaders have contributed to increase the effectiveness and performance of the organizations. By using descriptive method with phenomenological approach, the practice of transformational leadership of Nadiem Makarim as founder of GO-JEK Indonesia (an Indonesian-owned and run technology start-up that specialises in ride hailing, logistics, and digital payments) is examined. Then, this paper provides review about how Makarim’s leadership philosophy and practice has brought GO-JEK into success, Indonesia’s biggest start-up.

Abstract

The aim of the research was to explore undergraduate students’ perceptions about academic advising in an Indonesian university by measuring aspects of academic advising, involving the nature of advising relationship, the frequency of activities occurring during advising sessions, and students’ satisfaction with academic advising. The research applied quantitative research conducted by administering a questionnaire. The sample consisted of 302 undergraduate students who were asked to respond about the type of academic advising they perceived, topics discussed between advisor and student during academic advising sessions, and their satisfaction with academic advising in the university. The results show that the undergraduate students at an Indonesian university perceive their academic advising as ‘developmental advising’ rather than ‘prescriptive advising’. Undergraduate students perceive that the advisors not only focus on academic performance but also students’ holistic development. Most students are satisfied with the academic advising they have experienced. The topics most frequently discussed are related to the registration and course selection, while the topics most rarely discussed are related to institutional policies. In general, 72,85% of students satisfy with the academic advising they have experienced.

Abstract

Kualitas merupakan salah satu faktor penting yang dapat memperkuat daya saing setiap perusahaan, termasuk perusahaan yang bergerak di sektor industri konveksi di Indonesia. Untuk memastikan bahwa kualitas dapat memenuhi harapan pelanggan dan sesuai dengan standar kualitas, diperlukan pengendalian kualitas untuk diterapkan. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengkaji pengendalian kualitas dengan menggunakan p-chart pada sebuah perusahaan konveksi di Bandung, kemudian menganalisis cacat utama pada hasil produksi menggunakan diagram pareto, serta mengeksplorasi faktor-faktor penyebab potensial cacat utamapada hasil produksi menggunakan diagram sebab-akibat. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode deskriptif dalam bentuk studi kasus. Penggunaan peta kendali proporsi (p-chart) menunjukkan adanya gejala penyimpangan dalam proses produksi T-shirt dan kemeja. Analisis dengan menggunakan diagram pareto dapat mendeteksi jenis cacat utama yang perlu ditangani terlebih dahulu yaitu jahitan tidak rapih, hasil obras tidak rapih, atribut tidak lengkap, dan ukuran yang tidak sesuai. Adapun faktor penyebab potensial yang dapat dieksplorasi menggunakan diagram sebab-akibat meliputi faktor tenaga kerja/ manusia, faktor bahan baku, faktor lingkungan, faktor metode, dan faktor mesin. Berdasarkan analisis yang dilakukan dengan menggunakan p-chart, diagram pareto, dan diagram sebab-akibat tersebut, diusulkan pula beberapa rekomendasi untuk perbaikan kualitas.

Abstract

The research presented experiences in seeking academic advising patterns that produce satisfaction, urgency, and students’ academic and personal development at a university in Bandung, Indonesia. Data were collected using the story circle method. Four questions, including the meaning of advising, memorable experiences, perception of the process and advisors, and student expectations, were asked to answer the two main research questions. The two main questions involved the meaning and benefits of advising and satisfaction. A total of 57 respondents divided into seven groups of story circles were selected as participants using a purposive sampling method. Data were analyzed using a hierarchical Cresswell approach, starting from transcription, coding, categorizing, and developing themes. The results show that some students are satisfied with academic advising, but others feel dissatisfied even though it is important. The results also show that most advisors have created meaningful and memorable stories supporting student academic achievement. However, the relationship between lecturers and undergraduates determines the satisfaction level. The managers suggest from the research that it is necessary to hold coaching and counseling, training for advisors, and set a minimum procedural standard, including equating online communication channels because it minimizes the inequality of students’ satisfaction.

Abstract

Currently, government agencies, educational institutions, and non-profit organizations are encouraging growth and accelerating the transformation of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in Indonesia. Mentoring and training are provided to answer the needs of MSMEs, one of which is financial management and financial literacy. This community service activity is given to MSMEs in Toba Regency as an online workshop. The participants are entrepreneurs from various industries who have started keeping financial records but are still experiencing problems in debt management. This workshop aims to enable entrepreneurs to become more proficient in financial management, including saving, separating personal and business finances, and managing capital and debt. The method taught is the AMPLOP method. (Anggaran, Menabung, Pembayaran, Laksanakan, Omongkan, Pencatatan). The AMPLOP method is a management technique that involves budgeting, saving, making payments, implementing plans, communicating about financial matters, and keeping records. Continuing these activities will ensure the role MSMEs play in creating jobs and fostering economic growth.  ---  Saat ini lembaga pemerintahan, institusi pendidikan, dan lembaga permasyarakatan mengambil bagian untuk mendorong pertumbuhan dan percepatan transformasi usaha mikro kecil dan menengah (UMKM) di Indonesia. Program-program pendampingan dan pelatihan diberikan untuk menjawab kebutuhan pelaku UMKM, salah satunya adalah kebutuhan mengenai pengelolaan keuangan dan literasi keuangan. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini diberikan kepada pelaku UMKM di Kabupaten Toba dalam bentuk workshop secara daring. Peserta workshop adalah pelaku usaha dari berbagai industri yang sudah memulai melakukan pencatatan keuangan namun masih mengalami masalah dalam pengelolaan hutang. Workshop ini bertujuan untuk dapat memberdayakan dan mengedukasi pelaku usaha untuk lebih kompeten dalam pengelolaan keuangan seperti kemampuan menabung, memisahkan keuangan pribadi dan usaha, mengelola modal dan hutang. Adapun metode pengelolaan yang diajarkan adalah metode AMPLOP (Anggaran, Menabung, Pembayaran, Laksanakan, Omongkan, Pencatatan). Metode AMPLOP adalah teknik manajemen yang melibatkan anggaran, tabungan, membuat pembayaran, menerapkan rencana, berkomunikasi tentang hal-hal keuangan, dan menyimpan catatan. Kegiatan sejenis perlu terus dilakukan agar peran UMKM dalam penciptaan lapangan pekerjaan dan mendorong pertumbuhan perekonomian dapat terus terjadi.
