Abstract

Abstract The objective of this research was to analyze the implementation of an integrated science learning with webbed and shared type on the theme of waste utilization in increasing students’ science process skills. A quasi experiment method using the matching only pretest–posttest control group design was used in this study. Subjects of this study were students of 7th grade of Junior High Schools in Sukabumi City. The students were grouped into two classess where one class was taught using the integrated science learning with webbed type and the other class used shared type. The instruments used were a writing test for science process skill, an observation sheet for learning and student activities, and a quistionnare for overall students’ response on their experience during teaching and learning process. The results showed that (1) there was an increase in students science process skills in both type on webbed class with the value of n-gain was 0,528 (middle category) the n-gain for shared class reached 0,390 (middle category); (2) the integrated science learning with both webbed and shared type have been well implemented as planned; (3) according to the questionnaire, students thought that both type of learning was useful in understanding the concept and improving their science process skills. Abstrak Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pembelajaran IPA terpadu dengan tipe webbed dan shared pada tema pemanfaatan sampah dalam meningkatkan keterampilan proses sains siswa. Desain penelitian yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah kuasi eksperimen The Matching Only Pretest-Posttest Control Group Design. Subyek penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas VII SMP di Kota Sukabumi. Siswa dikelompokkan ke dalam dua kelas, di mana satu kelas diajarkan menggunakan pembelajaran IPA terpadu dengan tipe webbed dan kelas yang lain dengan tipe shared. Instrumen yang digunakan berupa tes tertulis untuk keterampilan proses sains, lembar observasi kegiatan pembelajaran dan kegiatan siswa, dan angket untuk respon siswa secara menyeluruh tentang pengalaman mereka selama proses belajar-mengajar. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa (1) terdapat peningkatan keterampilan proses pada kelas IPA terpadu pada kedua kelas dengan  nilai rata-rata  N-Gain pada kelas tipe webbed sebesar 0,528  (sedang), dan pada kelas tipe shared sebesar 0,390 (sedang); (2) pembelajaran IPA tipe webbed dan shared pada tema pemanfaatan sampah dengan pendekatan inkuiri terbimbing berjalan sesuai dengan tahapan rencana pelaksanaan pembelajaran (RPP), (3) berdasarkan angket, menurut siswa kedua tipe pembelajaran dapat membantu memahami konsep dan meningkatkan keterampilan proses sains mereka. Abstract

This study aims to build a socioscientific issues discussion framework through social networks "facebook". This is a developmental research within cyclic model. Five cycles performed to find a a socioscientific issues discussion framework that can support argumentation skill.  Almost 183 participants were involved in the development of  socioscientific issues discussion framework. Abstract

Kondisi awal pembelajaran praktikum anatomi tumbuhan di Universitas Wiralodra menunjukkan belum terlatihnya kecerdasan jasmaniah kinestetik mahasiswa. Hal ini terbukti bahwa mahasiwa tidak merasa terlatih dalam mengoprasikan mikroskop dan menentukan pembesaran mikroskop, yang artinya kecerdasan jasmaniah kinestetik mahasiswa belum terlatih. Berdasarkan permasalah tersebut maka dibutuhkan mikroskop digital yang dapat melatih kecerdasan jasmaniah kinestetik mahasiswa dalam praktikum anatomi tumbuhan. Perlu adanya inovasi teknologi mikroskop digital sebagai sarana penunjang praktikum anatomi tumbuhan. Tujuan Penelitian ini adalah mengembangkan mikroskop digital berbasis blended learning dalam meningkatkan kecerdasan majemuk mahasiswa pada praktikum anatomi tumbuhan. Sesuai dengan sifat penelitian merupakan pengembangan mikroskop digital berbasis blended learning, maka jenis yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah Penelitian dan Pengembangan (Research and Development). Subyek uji coba pada penelitian ini adalah mahasiswa calon guru pendidikan biologi semester 2 prodi Pendidikan Biologi Universitas Wiralodra yang terdiri 5 kelas dan berjumlah 185 mahasiswa. Pengambilan sampel menggunakan metode cluster random sample, terdiri dari 2 kelas yaitu Bio B (kelas eksperimen) dan Bio D (kelas kontrol) dengan syarat populasi tersebut bersifat homogen. Hasil pengembangan Mikroskop digital berbasis blended learning yang digunakan pada praktikum anatomi tumbuhan dinyatakan sangat valid. Mikroskop digital berbasis blended learning yang dikembangkan dapat meningkatkan kecerdasan jasmaniah kinestetik mahasiswa pada praktikum anatomi tumbuhan,dalam kategori tinggi. Terdapat perbedaan signifikan peningkatan kecerdasan jasmaniah kinestetik mahasiswa antara kelas yang menggunakan mikroskop digital berbasis blended learning dan kelas yang menggunakan mikroskop cahaya binokuler.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the profile of the ability of senior high school biology teachers in designing and testing local material-based bacteria and fungi cultivating practices during the Covid-19 pandemic. The method used in this study is a descriptive method with a qualitative approach. The participants in this study were 33 senior high school biology teachers at West Java province, Bandung. The data collection technique used the lesson plan assessment rubric, student worksheet, and practicum trial reports, besides that used both teacher profile and activities and obstacles questionnaires during the training. The research data analysis technique used data triangulation, data presentation, and conclusions. The data validity test includes data testing, data reliability testing, external validity/generalization. The results show that the profile of Senior High School biology teachers regarding teaching experience, as many as 63% of teachers had more than 10 years of teaching experience. The achievement of eligibility obtained a score of 85% (good category). These criteria include content, presentation, language, graphics, ease of usage, suitability of appearance, and usability of student worksheet features. The results of the questionnaire show that 91% of participants thought that the design and practical trial activities are very useful, 83% of participants thought that the material that had been delivered could be applied in schools. So that biology teachers can innovate further by using local materials to carry out practicum activities.

Abstract

Virtual laboratory berkembang pesat penggunaannya dalam pembelajaran sains karena terbukti memberikan manfaat yang signifikan terhadap proses dan hasil belajar sains. Keterbatasan fasilitas laboratorium dalam pembelajaran Biologi Molekuler pada Program Studi Pendidikan Biologi di salah satu LPTK di Kota Pekanbaru telah mendorong pengembangan aplikasi PCR virtual dan penggunaannya dalam pembelajaran Biologi Molekuler berstrategi modified free inquiry pada topik Polymerase chain reaction (PCR). Tujuan penelitian ini untuk meninjau persepsi mahasiswa terhadap penggunaan aplikasi PCR virtual serta mendeskripsikan dan membandingkan persepsi tersebut dengan hasil-hasil penelitian sebelumnya yang relevan. Ada lima aspek persepsi yang disurvei yaitu inovasi, motivasi, efektivitas, manfaat, dan penyajian prosedur praktikum. Hasil analisis data menunjukkan bahwa persentase persepsi positif paling besar adalah pada aspek inovasi dan penyajian prosedur praktikum (98%), diikuti oleh aspek motivasi (96%), aspek manfaat (88%), dan aspek efektivitas (86%). Berdasarkan hasil analisis data dapat disimpulkan bahwa   secara rerata sebagian besar mahasiswa (93%) mempunyai persepsi positif terhadap penggunaan  PCR virtual dalam pembelajaran Biologi Molekuler dan sebagian kecil (7%) yang memiliki persepsi negatif.

Abstract

Antifungal activity of the ethanol extract of bay-leaf (Syzygium  polyanthum (Wight) Walp.) against growth of the fungus Candida albicans in vitro has been conducted. Leaves of S. polyanthum has been known to have potential as antifungal for skin fungal pathogen. This study aims to determine antifungal activity of the ethanol extract of S. polyanthum leaves against growth of C. albicans.  Activity test was done by disc-diffusion  method and macro-dilution. This study used concentrations of ethanol leaf extract of S. polyanthum of 0.5%, 1%, 1.5%, 2%, and 2.5% (w/v). Negative control using 1% DMSO and positive controls using ketoconazole 30 mg/mL. The results shows that ethanol extract of leaves of S. polyanthum have activity as an antifungal. Ethanol extract of leaves of S. polyanthum based on the results of GCMS analysis of compounds containing chemical compounds such as terpenoids and fatty acids. Ethanol extract of leaves of S. polyanthum showed the highest inhibition zone diameter at a concentration of 1% (w/v) of 9.32 ± 0.21 mm. Value of Minimum inhibitory Concentration (MIC) for ethanol leaf extract of S. polyanthum present in a concentration of 0.5% (w/v) and the value of Minimum Fungicidal Concentration (MFC) present in a concentration of 1% (w/v).

Abstract

Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) empowers individuals to create a sustainable future, while the government needs policies and teachers' knowledge in integrating ESD in education, including technology with TPACK framework for learning efficiency. The main challenge for teachers is to integrate technology into learning by ensuring the suitability of technology as teaching material, content pedagogy, learning objectives, and subject matter character, and need to develop this ability on an ongoing basis to ensure success in achieving educational goals. So that the TPACK strengthening workshop on ESD-based science learning in implementing the Merdeka Curriculum as a form of answer to the above problems aims to train teachers' TPACK abilities in the teaching process through online workshops with the help of zoom meetings and offline. The method used involves structured workshops with various methods, such as lectures, demonstrations, questions and answers, and exercises to produce teacher best practice papers in using technology in learning. The results of this workshop have interesting implications for improving science teachers' understanding of the use of innovation in learning.Pendidikan untuk Pembangunan Berkelanjutan (ESD) memberdayakan individu untuk menciptakan masa depan berkelanjutan, sementara pemerintah membutuhkan kebijakan dan pengetahuan guru dalam mengintegrasikan ESD dalam pendidikan, termasuk teknologi dengan kerangka kerja TPACK untuk efisiensi pembelajaran. Tantangan utama bagi guru adalah mengintegrasikan teknologi ke dalam pembelajaran dengan memastikan kesesuaian antara teknologi sebagai bahan ajar, pedagogi konten, tujuan pembelajaran, dan karakter materi pelajaran, serta perlu mengembangkan kemampuan ini secara berkelanjutan untuk memastikan kesuksesan dalam pencapaian tujuan pendidikan. Sehingga workshop penguatan TPACK pada pembelajaran IPA berbasis ESD dalam  implementasi Kurikulum Merdeka sebagai salah satu bentuk jawaban atas permasalahan diatas bertujuan untuk melatih kemampuan TPACK guru dalam proses mengajar melalui workshop secara online dengan berbantuan zoom meetings dan secara offline. Metode yang digunakan melibatkan workshop terstruktur dengan berbagai metode, seperti ceramah, demonstrasi, tanya jawab, dan latihan untuk menghasilkan karya tulis best practise guru dalam menggunakan teknologi pada pembelajaran. Hasil workshop ini mempunyai implikasi yang menarik untuk meningkatkan pemahaman guru IPA tentang penggunaan inovasi dalam pembelajaran.

Abstract

This study was conducted with the aim of knowing the improvement of science process skills of students whose learning process uses a STEM-integrated guided inquiry learning model on human respiratory system material. The research method used was quasi experimental. The population in this study were all VIII science classes of State Junior High School totaling 175 students. The samples used were two classes taken with cluster random sampling technique. The normality value in the experimental class is 0.424 > 0.05 which is in the normal category, while the control class normality value is 0.120 > 0.05 which is in the normal category, The average N-Gain value in the experimental class is 0.60 and the average N-Gain value in the control class is 0.52, both N-Gain values are included in the medium category, the results of the independent t test 0.003 < 0.05 (α-0.05) which means that there is a significant difference between the science process skills of students in the experimental class and the control class. Based on the results of this study after applying the STEM-integrated guided inquiry model there is an increase in the science process skills of students in the experimental class on the human respiratory system.

Abstract

Microbial literacy plays an essential role in understanding microbiology issues. Discussion of socioscientific issues is one way to improve microbial literacy and argumentative skills. Socioscientific issues discussion takes a long time if applied in an inadequate classroom. Thus, social media is used as a tool to discuss socioscientific issues. This study aims to utilize social media Facebook' in discussing socioscientific issues. The research method used is quasi-experimental. The pre-post one group design was used to know the effect of socioscientific discussion on argumentation skills, and the pre and post-control group design was used to know the differences in microbiological literacy of students who discuss socioscientific issues and did not discuss socioscientific issues. Discussion of socioscientific issues is carried out through four steps: polemic, exploration, conclusion, and action. The results showed increased individual argumentation skills before and after discussing socioscientific issues via Facebook. Before the discussion there are 34.38% of students reached argumentation levels 4 to 5, after which 56.25% reached argumentation levels 4-5. Discussion of socioscientific issues through social media has made group argumentation skills reach higher performance (level 5). Microbiological literacy between groups discussing socioscientific issues and not discussing socioscientific issues showed no significant difference except for questions directly related to the topic of discussion, namely changes in perceptions of microbes. Online discussions of socioscientific issues with pro and con arguments were very effective through social media "Facebook."

Abstract

The initial conditions of learning the practice of plant anatomy at the University of Wiralodra shows that the kinesthetic physical intelligence of students has not been trained. It is proven that students do not feel trained in operating the microscope and determine the magnification of the microscope, which means that the kinesthetic physical intelligence of students has not been trained. Based on these problems, a digital microscope is needed that can train students' kinesthetic physical intelligence in practicing plant anatomy. Digital microscope technology innovation is needed as a means of supporting plant anatomy practicum. In accordance with the nature of the research is the development of a digital microscope based on blended learning, the type used in this research is Research and Development (Research and Development). The trial subjects in this study were prospective biology education teacher candidates in the 2nd semester of Biology Education study program at the University of Wiralodra consisting of 5 classes and totaling 185 students. Sampling using cluster random sample method, consisting of 2 classes, namely Bio B (experimental class) and Bio D (control class) provided that the population is homogeneous. The results of the development of a digital microscope based on blended learning used in plant anatomy practicums were declared very valid. The blended learning digital microscope that was developed can improve the kinesthetic physical intelligence of students in plant anatomy practices, in the high category. There is a significant difference in the increase in kinesthetic physical intelligence of students between classes that use a digital microscope based on blended learning and classes that use a binocular light microscope.
