Abstract

Although studies on character education and religious arts have received attention, discussions that specifically examine the role of Ikatan Seni Hadrah Indonesia (ISHARI) in shaping the character of Generation Z through sholawat-based activities remain limited. This study aims to analyze the role of ISHARI in shaping the character of Generation Z and to identify the challenges faced in implementing its programs. This study used a descriptive qualitative approach with a field study design. The research informants included the leaders, administrators, and members of ISHARI NU Megaluh Sub-Branch, Jombang, who were selected purposively. Data were collected through interviews, observation, and documentation, and were then analyzed using thematic analysis techniques. The results showed that ISHARI played a significant role in instilling religious values, discipline, responsibility, and noble character through regular hadrah practice, sholawat recitation, social bonding, and inter-branch joint activities. The main challenges in program implementation included limited practice time, lack of discipline among young members, trainer delays, competition with other organizations such as pencak silat, and limited funding. These findings strengthen the understanding of Islamic art as a medium for moral development and contribute to the development of studies on sholawat-based character education. The conclusion of this study emphasizes that ISHARI sholawat activities play an important role in fostering the spiritual and moral values of Generation Z. The implications of this study include theoretical contributions to the literature on Islamic education and practical recommendations for ISHARI administrators to develop more innovative mentoring methods and strengthen program sustainability both institutionally and economically.

Abstract

The moral challenges faced by students in the era of digital transformation require educational institutions to strengthen character formation not only through formal learning, but also through applied and continuous activities. Religious extracurricular activities are regarded as an effective strategy for shaping students’ morals through the habituation of religious values and the direct practice of religious rituals. This study aims to analyze the implementation of religious extracurricular activities and their contribution to improving students’ morals at MA Mamba’ul Ulum Megaluh Jombang. A descriptive qualitative approach with a field research design was employed. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews, observation, and documentation involving the head of the madrasah, the vice-principal for student affairs, activity supervisors, and students participating in the extracurricular programs. Data were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman interactive model, comprising data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing, with data validity ensured through source and method triangulation. The findings show that religious extracurricular activities such as khatmil Qur’an, tilawah Al-Qur’an, al-banjari, muhadharah, and the commemoration of Islamic holy days contribute positively to students’ moral formation, particularly in fostering discipline, responsibility, cooperation, religious awareness, and courteous behaviour. Nevertheless, the implementation of these activities still faces constraints in the form of limited time, varying levels of student motivation, and inadequate supporting facilities. The study concludes that religious extracurricular activities can serve as an effective strategy for strengthening students’ moral education, provided they are implemented in a structured and consistent manner and supported by strong institutional commitment.

Abstract

Aqidah Akhlak learning at SMPN 1 Sukorame is still dominated by conventional teacher-centered methods through one-way lectures, resulting in low student activeness, intellectual engagement, and learning outcomes. This study aimed to determine the influence and effectiveness of implementing the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model on the Aqidah Akhlak learning outcomes of Grade VIII F students at SMPN 1 Sukorame. This study used a quasi-experimental method with a One-Group Pretest–Posttest design, involving 30 Grade VIII F students as research subjects. Data were collected through pretest and posttest tests as well as student response questionnaires, then analyzed using the normality test, N-Gain Score test, and Paired Samples T-Test with the assistance of SPSS. The results showed a significant improvement in learning outcomes after the implementation of the PBL model. The Paired Samples T-Test obtained a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05, so H₀ was rejected and the PBL model was declared to have a significant effect on students’ learning outcomes. The N-Gain Score of 0.389 was in the moderate category, indicating that the PBL model was effective in improving Aqidah Akhlak learning outcomes. These findings affirm that authentic problem-based learning can serve as a pedagogical alternative to promote active participation, critical thinking skills, collaboration, and a more meaningful understanding of Islamic values.

Abstract

Arabic language learning at MAN 3 Jombang continues to face challenges, including low student participation, lack of enthusiasm, and difficulty in understanding the material due to monotonous and minimally interactive teaching resources. This study aims to: (1) develop Arabic instructional materials based on the SAVI (Somatic, Auditory, Visual, Intellectual) learning model to enhance students' language skills; (2) evaluate the effectiveness of the materials; and (3) assess their feasibility. The method used is Research and Development (R&D) with the ADDIE model, encompassing the stages of analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. The research subjects were 40 tenth-grade students of class X-13 at MAN 3 Jombang. Data were obtained through pretest–posttest scores, expert validations (content and media), and student response questionnaires. The validation results indicated a feasibility score of 88.3% from content experts, 92.7% from media experts, and 87.1% from student responses. Normality testing confirmed that the data were normally distributed, and the paired sample t-test yielded a significance value of 0.000 (p < 0.05), indicating a significant difference between pretest and posttest scores. The study concludes that Arabic teaching materials based on the SAVI model are both feasible and effective, capable of enhancing language skills, encouraging active participation, and creating a more engaging and interactive learning environment. The findings imply that developing instructional materials grounded in somatic, affective, visual, and intellectual approaches can serve as an innovative strategy for Arabic language instruction.
