Abstract

Abstract

Quality of Life (QoL) in diabetes mellitus (DM) has become highly emphasized in recent years as health care outcome. Hyperglicemic herbs potio, one of scientific herbs, has been proven to be safe and efficacious. The use of extract capsules as an innovative form of herbal medicine continues to be developed. The study aimed to examine the effect of giving hyperglicemic herbal extract capsules on the QoL of hyperglycemic patients at Rumah Riset Jamu (RRJ) Hortus Medicus. The method used was pre and post-test design with quasi-experimental. A total of 60 patients followed the study during September-November 2019. The hyperglycemic herbs formula consisting of 5 grams daun Salam, 5 grams sambiloto, 7 grams kayu manis and 10 grams temulawak which converted to the one extract capsule. For the daily doses are two capsules twice a day. The Metformin 500 mg single dose as a control of the study. Before this study and on day 28th, the patients had been examined the QoL using the short form-36 (SF-36). The data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon and Mann Whitney test. The results showed that there was a significant increase in total score of SF-36 (p=0,000) between before and after taking extract capsules, especially for the general health domain (p=0,002). The total score of SF-36 between extract capsules and Metformin groups was not significantly difference (p=0,323). Hyperglycemic herbal extract capsules improved the QoL of the hyperglycemic patients.

Abstract

Obesity is a co-morbidity of cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and other metabolic diseases, which the prevalence increases every year. The use of herbal medicine is an alternative choice to overcome obesity. Clinical observation of decoction of herbal medicine (Dutch teak, kemuning, rhei radix and tempuyung) has been conducted for obesity therapy which has been proven to be effective in reducing body weight and body mass index (BMI). Innovation in steeping form is considered more practical than stew. Randomized open label pararel design research was carried out to assess the equal efficacy of the herbs in stew and steeping form. The number of subjects in each group were 30 subjects, they were patients of of Rumah Riset Jamu (RRJ) Hortus Medicus during June-October 2016 who met the inclusion criteria. BW and BMI are measured on Day-0, 28 and 56, while body height is measured once at Day-0. Both stew and steeping groups drank herbs twice a day for 56 days. At the end of the study, it was found that the mean of declining BW of the decoction group was 67.35 kg to 66.37 kg, while the steeping group 67.41 kg to 66.45 kg. BMI of stew group was decreased 26.85 kg / m2 to 26.46 kg / m2, while in steeping group 26.67 kg / m2 to 26.29 kg / m2. Statistic test result to compare BW and BMI of both two groups before and after treatment showed no significant differences in the two groups (p> 0.05). The ability of herbal medicines in steeping or stew forms can reduce the BW and BMI equally.

Abstract

The prevalence of hypertension in Indonesia was 25,8%. As much as 70% types of hypertensive patients were mild hypertension. There were some medicinal plants contain single formulation could be used for lowering blood pressure but not in a herbal formulation. This study determined the efficacy of antihypertension herbal formulation that consists of Indonesian bay leaves, Centella herbs, blady grass roots and nutmeg seeds. This study was an experimental laboratory research with pre and post-test controlled design, used thirty Sprague-Dawley rats that were classified randomly into five groups (negative control group which didn't have treatment, positive control group which consumed captopril 0,25 mg, and three groups which consumed antihypertension herbal formulation with doses of 0,08 g; 0,16 g; and 0,32 g. The rats were induced by prednisone and NaCl 2,5 % for 21 days. The data were analysed using ANOVA test with CI 95%. After two weeks observation, the results showed that the blood pressure in the negative control group increased, but in the positive control and treatment groups decreased significantly (p=0,001). In conclusion, the herbal formulation could decrease rat's blood pressure

Abstract

The present study analyzes the differences in students' learning interests before and after using quizwhizzer-based learning media. This research was carried out at SMAN 1 Mandau in class XI in the economics group. The research uses an experimental method with the One Group Pretest-Posttest Design model. The data collection method uses a questionnaire, and the data analysis technique uses descriptive statistical analysis and difference tests (t-test). The research results show that there are differences in students' learning interests before and after using quizwhizzer-based learning media. This is proven by the pretest results of interest in learning of 67.63, where students were quite interested in participating in learning before using quizwhizzer-based learning media. Then, after using quizwhizzer-based learning media there was a change in students' interest in learning, which increased to 73.62, which means that learning media quizwhizzer-based can increase students' interest in learning. The results of the different tests (t-test) show that the tcount value obtained is 6,912 while the ttable value is 1,692, so the tcount > ttable value so it can be concluded that there is a difference in students' learning interest before and after using quizwhizzer-based learning media. Thus, teachers are expected to be able to use this media during the learning process because quizwhizzer-based learning media can increase students' interest in learning. This research can be a reference for increasing students' interest in learning. And future researchers can use premium quizwhizzer-based learning media to obtain features more complete.

Abstract

Mathematics education is a very important education. Early childhood is a golden age, namely the age of 0-6 years in Indonesia and abroad, namely at the age of 0-8 years. According to Jean Piaget, this has been the main reference for the kindergarten curriculum and even education in general. The first step is to design a fun number learning media with the latest literature. The design is tested by experts and validated according to the needs of students. The result of the author's initial observation in the field is that Amira kindergarten students aged 4-5 years do not globally understand the lack of development in the cognitive aspect of knowing numbers and symbolic thinking for effective results. %. Based on the discussion above, it can be concluded that playing while learning using cards recognizes cool numbers in improving six aspects of development in children aged 4-5 years at Amira Plered Purwakarta Kindergarten.
