Abstract

The purpose of this study was to provide nursing care for children with pneumonia based on Florence Nightiangel's theory. This research method is a case study with a nursing care approach based on Florence Nightiangel's theory.  Data collection was done by interview, observation, physical examination and documentation study. The instrument used is an assessment format based on Florence Nightiangel nursing theory. The results of the assessment were found to be shortness of breath, coughing and difficult sputum removal, mild chest wall retraction on the subcosta, pulmonary sound sounded rochi, tachypnea breathing pattern, respiratory frequency 38x/min, there were infiltrates in both lung fields, environmental conditions of the house opposite the farm, house windows and ventilation are rarely opened so it is difficult to get fresh air and lighting from sunlight. There are two nursing problems, namely ineffective airway clearance, and ineffective family health management. The interventions carried out are based on SLKI and SIKI. After three days of nursing care, it was concluded that the top two nursing problems were partially solved. It is expected that nurses are able to provide and improve the quality of service in providing nursing care based on the Florence Nightiangel approach.

Abstract

The prevalence of TB worldwide has increased since 2018, where the number of TB cases was 6,116,536 cases, and in 2019 there were 10,400,000 cases of TB worldwide. Indonesia is ranked third highest after India and China. Based on this, there is an alternative care model theory to overcome the environment that can cause TB disease. Nightingale's conceptual model of nursing is one of them, Nightingale sees patients in the context of the entire environment consisting of the physical environment, psychological environment, and social environment. The purpose of this study is to improve health services in improving disease management conditions professionally and bringing individuals into optimal conditions for activities through fundamental initiatives that affect the environment. This study uses a method that is a nursing process approach based on the selected nursing theory. Techniques used in data collection are interviews, observation, physical examination and nursing care. The results showed that Florence's assessment focuses more on environmental conditions (physical, psychological and social environment). Focused on the individual's relationship with the environment, namely: lack of information about environmental hygiene, ventilation, garbage disposal, environmental pollution, social communication and others.

Abstract

Myra Estrin Levine's theory has a central role in guiding nursing practitioners in providing holistic care with a focus on understanding and meeting basic human needs. This study explores the application of this theory in nursing practice, highlighting the challenges of integrating the theory's principles into daily practice. Through a case study of a patient with a history of hypertensive disease and a kidney transplant, we demonstrate an attempt to apply the theory to formulate nursing diagnoses and design appropriate interventions. Although providing a solid foundation, the limitations of the theory, such as the focus on individualized disease and lack of support for health promotion, raise questions about the relevance and sustainability of application in diverse clinical contexts. Evaluation of an intervention based on Levine's conservation principles indicated improvements in thermoregulation and a decrease in patient anxiety. The conclusions highlight the need for further research to understand the application of this theory in a changing healthcare context, with in-depth reflection on the challenges and opportunities in applying its principles.

Abstract

This study evaluated the impact of Sectio Caesarean delivery on the mother, showing that the risk of complications is five times higher than normal delivery. Sectio Caesarea causes postoperative pain and wounds, restricting the patient's movement and leading to stiff joints, poor posture, muscle contractures, and slow wound healing. Virginia Henderson's theory is the basis for nurses in restoring patient independence, focusing on 14 basic human needs. The case study of Mrs. D, a post-Sectio Caesarea patient without other complications, applied the purposive method. Data were obtained through observation, interview, and physical examination, and processed with Virginia Henderson's theory. The results showed that the application of the theory was effective in restoring the patient's independence, emphasizing the need for care based on basic human needs. The conclusion of the study confirms that Virginia Henderson's theory can be effectively applied in dealing with health problems in post-Sectio Caesarea patients.

Abstract

The Health Promotion Model by Nola J. Pender reflects an evolution in nursing approaches, moving beyond a reactive paradigm to a proactive focus on prevention and health promotion. Grounded in a holistic health philosophy, the model recognizes the complexity of interactions between physical, psychological, and social aspects in shaping a person's health. Building on previous theories, the model offers a solid empirical foundation, reinforcing its relevance in various contexts and populations. The model's strength lies in its deep orientation towards prevention, filling a void in nursing practice that previously underemphasized disease prevention efforts. While it empowers individuals to manage their own health, the model may be difficult to apply to individuals with low economic means or mental disabilities. Overall, the Health Promotion Model has been a major contributor in shifting the nursing paradigm towards prevention and health promotion.

Abstract

This study examines the application of Hildegard E. Peplau's Nursing Interaction Theory in the context of anxiety management in patients who will undergo uterine removal surgery due to ovarian tumors. The research method used a qualitative approach with a case study approach on several patients. The results showed that nurses who applied the principles of Peplau's Theory succeeded in establishing a significant therapeutic relationship with patients, identifying factors that cause anxiety, and providing appropriate emotional support. Nursing interventions, such as creating a therapeutic atmosphere, providing education, and collaborating with the patient, proved effective in reducing the patient's level of anxiety. This study contributes to the development of an understanding of the application of Peplau Theory in daily nursing practice, especially in handling anxiety in patients preparing for surgery. The practical implications of this study can support nurses in providing holistic nursing care and focusing on the psychosocial aspects of patients.

Abstract

The effect of the patient's anxiety before performing an esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD) action affects the patients' hemodynamics, it can affect the process of such actions when they are performed, usually anxieties are affected by the feeling of being that appears as a result of poor perception of the action to be done, negative perceptions appear often caused by a lack of information about the actions to be performed. Nursing care is very influential to the patient, one of the nursing model theories that can be applied to patients undergoing esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD) with the theory of Human Caring by Jean Watson. The nursing process focuses more on health promotion, disease prevention, care for the sick, and physical recovery. The author differentiates the nursing case/orphanage report by applying Jean Watson's model theory using nursery process methods that include the examination, diagnosis, planning, implementation and evaluation of these nurses' orphanages. The result of the implementation that has been done is that the patient feels a change in perception in which the patient experiences a decrease in the level of anxiety after performing a personal caring approach in accordance with Jean Watson's Model Theory.

Abstract

This study discusses the application of nursing care to Mrs. S with dextra cruris ulcers, referring to the nursing model and theory of Madeleine M. Leininger's concept. The case study method was used with a nursing approach based on Leininger's theory. Data were collected through interviews, observations, physical examinations, and documentation studies using an assessment format according to the theory. The results of the assessment identified factors such as technology, social, cultural values, policies, economics, and education that influence nursing care. Two nursing problems were found, namely Ineffective Health Maintenance and ineffective breathing patterns. Interventions were based on the Standardized Individualized Nursing Steps (SLKI) and Standardized Individualized Nursing Interactions (SIKI). After three days of nursing care, both problems were partially resolved. The conclusion of the study emphasizes the importance of nurses in providing quality nursing care with the Madeleine M. Leininger approach. It is hoped that this will improve overall nursing services.
