Abstract

Hospitalization is a situation where a child is required to stay and be in the hospital in a planned manner to receive care and treatment from the time he is admitted to the hospital until the child is allowed to go home again. Hospitalization is considered an event that can be stressful for children. One of the impacts of hospitalization on children is anxiety. Anxiety is a general term for hormonal changes that occur in response to threatening or frightening events or conditions, which can inhibit children's behavior, cognitive capacity, and emotional and physical health. More persistent frightening and threatening situations are more frequently experienced by children. The general aim of this case study is to implement the application of the concept of the Betty Neuman model theory to nursing care with hospitalization of children in hospitals. The research method in this case study involves the application of a nursing process approach method based on the selected nursing theory. Data collection techniques were carried out through interviews, observation, physical examination, and implementation of nursing care. The data sources used involve primary data obtained directly from patients, and secondary data originating from families, health workers, as well as documentation of other examination results to carry out nursing care. The results of nursing care by applying the Betty Neuman model theory to nursing care with hospitalization of children in hospitals are that anxiety related to hospitalization of children improves and ineffective coping related to inadequate preparation for stressors experienced by children also improves.

Abstract

Background: Jean Watson nurse theorist and nursing professor known for the “Philosophy and Theory of Transpersonal Care.” She has also written many books, including Nursing: The Philosophy and Science of Caring. Watson's studies of caring have been integrated into education and patient care in nursing schools and healthcare facilities around the world. Jean Watson was born Margaret Jean Harmon and raised in Welch, West Virginia, Watson is known for seeing the unified science of caring, examining the role of the nurse through the lens of a worldview of harmony, belonging, and connection. In caring theory, values, knowledge and caring practices are integrated with the healing process from within and the patient's life experiences, thus requiring the art of healing-care and a framework called carative factors. These factors are complementary, but different from curative factors. Curative is developed by doctors, while carative is developed by nurses. Caring behavior can determine the moral values ??of nurses. In addition, caring behavior in nursing care can determine the level of client satisfaction in receiving health services. It can be said that caring is a wholehearted attitude or behavior given by a nurse to a client with a sense of care, attention and attention to the patient's emotions to create a therapeutic relationship. This causes patients to feel comfortable, safe and relieved because of the reduction in stress they feel due to suffering from an illness.

Abstract

The studies that Beck used in developing the theory of postpartum depression led to qualitative methods, Beck also cited various philosophical and theoretical sources to develop his knowledge. The phenomenon used in the first study was how women experience postpartum depression, using the Colaizzi (1978) approach. Furthermore, Beck used the theoretical basis of the philosophical and theoretical views of Glaser (1978), Glaser and Strauss (1967), and Hutchinson (1986), all of whom made important contributions to the evolution of basic nursing theory. Through the results of Beck's study and its consistency with feminist theory. The results of his study concluded the importance of understanding pregnancy, the birth process, and the process of raising children according to women's views (Beck, 2002). In addition, the results of Beck's study concluded that the birth process has a sustainable impact in the context (medical, social, economic) and a mother's reactions to that process and the process of parenting is shaped by those responses.

Abstract

Ramona Thieme Mercer was born on October 4, 1929 is the author of the middle class theory of nursing known as the achievement of the maternal role. Mercer began her Nursing career in 1950, when she received a Diploma from St. Mary's. Margaret's School of Nursing in Montgomery Alabama. Mercer's theory is an example of a middle range theory, it has a lower abstraction that is derived from other theories so that it can be applied to more specific areas of nursing. A very interesting thing, of course, is when a nurse is able to translate how to develop this theory, it becomes easier to apply to patients. Maternal Role Attainment proposed by Mercer follows Bronfenbrenner's work in 1979 which is known as the bird's nest circle which includes a set of microsystem, mesosystem and macrosystem cycles. The application of the becoming a mother model in providing nursing care to postpartum clients is carried out to help clients achieve their role as a mother. So that the mother can provide good care for the baby and the baby can be fulfilled in psychosocial terms.

Abstract

Background: Fractures can occur in all bones, one of which is a humerus fracture. Humerus fracture is a fracture of the longest and largest bone of the superior extremity caused by direct or indirect impact or trauma. Ida Jean Orlando, is a first generation Irish-American who was born on August 12, 1926 in New Jersey. Ida Jean Orlando's concept model is known as The Discipline and Teaching of Nursing Process: An Evaluative Study”. Ida Jean Orlando first published her theory in "The Dynamic nurse-patient relationship: Function, process and principles of Professional Nursing Practice" (1961) and published her second book entitled; “The Discipline and Teaching of Nursing Process: An Evaluative Study (1972). Orlando made several important contributions to nursing theory and practice. The concept of the nursing process that he provides includes several criteria, including providing a relationship concept that is described systematically regarding phenomena in the field of nursing, specifying the relationship between nursing concepts, explaining what happens during the nursing process and why it happens, describing how nursing phenomena can be controlled and explains how to control to predict the outcome of the nursing process. Objective: This research aims to implement nursing care for Humerus Fracture patients using the Ida Jean Orlando concept model approach. Research methodology: This research uses a Case Study, namely providing nursing care to patients with Humerus Fractures. Results: The results of this research are to improve nurse-patient interactions, a better understanding of relationship dynamics in the nursing process, and their impact on overall patient outcomes. Conclusion:The conclusion of this research is that the application of nursing care to Humerus Fracture patients using the Ida Jean Orlando concept model approach can make a positive contribution to nurse-patient interactions and overall patient outcomes.

Abstract

Nursing theories are attempts to describe or explain nursing phenomena. Through nursing theory, it can be distinguished whether it includes scientific disciplines or other activities. Apart from being used to develop a model related to nursing concepts, nursing theory also has characteristics including: nursing theory identifies and explains special concepts related to real things in nursing. The main concepts identified in Betty Neuman's theoretical approach are the holistic approach, open system (including function, input and output, feedback, negent-copy, and stability), environment (including the created environment), client system (including five client variables, basic structure, line of resistance, normal line of defense, and flexible line of defense), health (fitness to disease), stressors, degree of reaction, prevention as intervention (three levels), and recovery.

Abstract

Katherine Kolcaba originally wrote comfort theory in Alzheimer's and dementia patients. However, Katherine herself has written several articles in the nursing field regarding her theory. When Kolcaba developed his theory, he used logical reasoning. He uses induction, deduction, subtraction. Kolcaba uses existing frameworks to synthesize or identify comfort types. This book has a provocative and profound effect, encouraging psychologists to study personality holistically and in depth and emphasizing the complex interactions between individual, social, and cultural characteristics. This is an excellent starting point for this theory because comfort is best achieved through holistic treatment. He also begins with the analytical concept of the term "comfort". Katherine Kolcaba collects definitions of “comfort” from various scientific disciplines. In comfort theory, the metaparadigm proposition of nursing action is used.
