Abstract

Abstract. The issue of supplier selection is an important issue in the company because it will determine the company's ability to ensure the availability of raw materials in production. This study aims to establish a decision-making model for supplier selection which considers many criteria in which there is dependence between criteria. The method used is fuzzy-analytic network process (fuzzy-ANP). The combined fuzzy and ANP methods is used not only to consider dependencies between criteria, but also to minimize uncertainty and inaccuracy in the assessment of importance of each criterion. Four major stages used in the decision model, namely the establishment of supplier selection criteria and sub-criteria, the process of determining dependencies among the criteria, the weighting of the criteria/sub-criteria, and the last one is supplier assessment process. The process of weighting the criteria results in two data, criteria weights without dependency and criteria weights with dependency. The process of formation of criteria/sub-criteria and the ratings to generate weights were obtained from the experts from the company where case study was done. Supplier rsting process is done through assessment process using the 5 (five) scale rating. The results of rating for each supplier will then be compared. The results of this method is the ranking of suppliers in a certain procurement process. From this research it is known that the method used, fuzzy ANP, is proved to be appropriate considering that there are dependencies among the criteria/ sub-criteria used and the method is useful to minimize uncertainty or inaccuracy in the assessment process. By employing this method, criteria with the highest weight was obtained, that is quality of human resources which affect as much as 6 other criteria, followed by quality of product, supplier’s reputation, price, and delivery method. Keywords: Fuzzy-ANP, decision model, multi criteria decision making (MCDM), procurement, supplier selection

Abstract

Abstract

Supplier selection becomes very important when used in the context of strategic partnerships because of the long-term orientation of the relationship. This paper describes the application of a decision-making approach for selecting a strategic partner (supplier). The approach starts with defining a set of criteria that fits the company's condition. In the next steps, a combination of fuzzy-ANP and TOPSIS methods is used to determine the weight for each criterion and rank all the alternatives. The application of the approach in an Indonesian manufacturing company showed that the three factors that got the highest weight were "geographical location", "current operating performance", and "reliability". Geographical location got the highest weight because it affects many other factors such as reaction to changes in demand, after-sales service, and delivery lead-time.  Application of the approach helps decision-makers to gain effectiveness and efficiency in the decision-making process because it facilitates them to express their group's collective preferences  while also providing opportunities for members to express their individual preferences. Future research can be directed at combining qualitative and quantitative criteria to develop the best criteria and methods for the selection of the best suppliers based on fuzzy ANP and TOPSIS.

Abstract

Dengue is regarded as the most important mosquito-borne viral disease. Recently dengue has emerged as a public health burden in Southeast Asia and other tropical countries. At times when dengue re-emerges as an epidemic, hospitals are required to be able to handle patient flow fluctuation while maintaining their performance. This research applied a data mining technique to build a model that can predict in-patient hospital length of stay from the time of admission, which can be useful for effective decision-making that may lead to better clinical and resource management in hospitals. Using the C4.5 algorithm and a decision tree classifier, an accuracy of 71.57% and an area under the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve value of 0.761 were obtained. The decision tree showed that only 7 out of 21 input attributes affect the hospital length of stay prediction of dengue patients. The attribute with the highest impact was monocytes, followed by diastolic blood pressure, hematocrit, leucocytes, systolic blood pressure, comorbidity score, and lymphocytes. In this research also a prototype of a prediction system using the resulting model was developed.

Abstract

Information technology has a major impact on knowledge-sharing activities. The combination of knowledge-sharing tools such as Web 2.0 and multimedia embodied in the use of tutorial videos on web-enabled online learning is the solution. The solution is expected to improve individual performance in solving troubleshooting problems. The model was developed which explained the relationship between knowledge sharing and individual performance in troubleshooting problems and identified the factors that influence it. The research data is obtained by distributing questionnaires online to Telkomsel service users who have experienced problems troubleshooting products or services. The conceptual model was tested based on 205 samples obtained online. From the test results, it can be seen that web-enabled online learning is effective because tacit knowledge sharing that occurs directly increases individual performance while the effect of explicit knowledge sharing is mediated by tacit knowledge sharing. The factors that drive knowledge-sharing activities can influence individual performance, namely trust, IT usage, and usability.

Abstract

This paper is continuity research from our previous work in Ant-Miner implementation for web user classification. In our previous work, we implemented Ant-Miner algorithm for web user classification same with Ant-Miner for classification task in data mining domain. In this paper, we propose modification of heuristic function of Ant-Miner based on web usage mining (WUM) problem, that we name Ant-WUM. The heuristic function ACO is based on local problem domain. Information theory is common heuristic function used in classification task, such as implemented in C4.5 algorithm and ant-miner algorithm. Ant-WUM uses heuristic function based on closeness principle that implemented in clustering problem in WUM. We propose to use data from web access log, profile user, and transaction data to provide some attributes as term candidate of classification rule by Ant-WUM algorithm. We compared Ant-WUM algorithm with Ant-Miner algorithm. The result indicates that Ant-WUM has competitive result in term of accuracy rate, amount of rules, and computation time.

Abstract

The importance of technology, especially information technology (IT), to businesses is widely accepted. But, different from large enterprises, small and medium enterprises (SMEs) with their limited resources adopted IT slowly. Literature on technology adoption suggests that organizational readiness is one of many factors that determine the adoption of technology. This paper relates IT adoption in Indonesian manufacturing SMEs with their IT readiness represented by owners support and IT sophistication they have. In this paper, the variety of IT adoption by SMEs was explored using business process approach. The support from SMEs owner represented by owner’s IT knowledge and resource allocation. IT sophistication included management level supported by IT, IT skill and IT innovativeness of SMEs staff. Three propositions were formulated and explored using data collected from 320 SMEs. Using cluster analysis, these SMEs were classified into five type of IT adoption based on three business focus (supplier, internal and customer): early adoption, internal focus adoption, customer focus adoption, internal-customer focus adoption and balanced adoption. The results suggests wider IT adoption requires greater support from the owner and higher IT sophistication.

Abstract

Information systems development (ISD) projects are highly complex, with different groups of people having  to collaborate and exchange their knowledge. Considering the intensity of knowledge exchange that takes place in outsourced ISD projects, in this study a conceptual model was developed, aiming to examine the influence of four antecedents, i.e. standardization, requirement volatility, internal integration, and external integration, on two dependent variables, i.e. process performance and product performance. Data  were collected from 46 software companies in four big cities in Indonesia. The collected data were examined to verify the proposed theoretical model using the partial least square structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) technique. The results show that process performance is significantly influenced by internal integration and standardization, while product performance is  significantly influenced by external integration and  requirement volatility. This study contributes  to a better understanding of how knowledge integration can be managed in outsourced ISD projects in view of increasing their success.
