Abstract

Kakao adalah salah satu komoditas pertanian andalan dengan peranan penting dalam perekonomian Indonesia. Mutu biji kakao sangat dipengaruhi oleh kondisi kakao dan cara pengolahannya, salah satunya yaitu pengeringan. Alternatif proses pengeringan biji kakao yang dapat digunakan yaitu pengering tipe bak. Kelebihan dari alat ini yaitu waktu penjemuran lebih singkat, tidak memerlukan banyak tenaga kerja, suhu dan kecepatan proses pengeringan dapat diatur sesuai keinginan, dan kebersihan dapat diawasi sebaik-baiknya. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui keuntungan/ pendapatan per tahun yang akan diperoleh dan untuk mengetahui nilai kelayakan ekonomi dari alat pengering biji kakao tipe bak sistem penghembus udara panas di Desa Penengahan, Kecamatan Gedong Tataan, Kabupaten Pesawaran, Provinsi Lampung. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan pada bulan April - Mei 2018 di Desa Penengahan, Kecamatan Gedong Tataan Kabupaten Pesawaran, Provinsi Lampung. Data-data yang diperlukan dalam melakukan analisis ekonomi ini diperoleh dari data kuantitatif yang didukung oleh data kualitatif, hal ini dilakukan untuk mendapatkan hasil yang akurat. Data kuantitatif diperoleh dengan mewawancarai secara langsung petani pemilik alat menggunakan daftar pertanyaan (kuesioner) sebagai alat bantu pengumpulan data. Sedangkan data kualitatif diperoleh dengan melakukan pengamatan atau pengukuran langsung di lapangan. Data-data tersebut diisi kedalam tabel yang sesuai dengan data dan rincian biaya yang telah dikeluarkan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pendapatan per tahun dari usaha pengeringan ini yaitu sebesar Rp 42.242.668,01/tahun, dan dinilai layak secara finansial yang ditunjukkan dengan nilai NPV (Rp 165.318.779,07/tahun) bernilai positif, B/C Ratio (1,07) > (1), dan IRR (554,36%) > suku bunga bank (7%). Berdasarkan analisis sensitivitas, perubahan terhadap kenaikan biaya produksi, penurunan penerimaan, dan penurunan jam kerja alat menunjukkan bahwa usaha pengeringan biji kakao tetap layak untuk dilakukan.

Abstract

Jagung merupakan komoditi unggulan di Pekon Enggal Rejo, Kecamatan Adiluwih Pringsewu. Kelompok Wanita Tani (KWT) Enggal Maju menjalankan usaha produksi emping jagung. Permasalahan yang dihadapi KWT adalah proses pemipihan jagung masih dilakukan secara manual. Biji jagung ditumbuk satu persatu menggunakan palu hingga menjadi pipih. Proses ini memerlukan banyak tenaga dan menyita waktu. Kelelahan kerja yang dialami KWT membuat produktivitasnya terbatas. Untuk itu Tim Pengabdian mengusulkan aplikasi mesin pemipih untuk mengatasi permasalahan tersebut agar proses produksi emping jagung menjadi lebih mudah dan cepat. Kegiatan PKMU ini bertujuan untuk (1) membuat mesin pemipih untuk mengatasi kelelahan kerja pada tahap pemipihan jagung, (2) mensosialisasikan mesin pemipih beserta cara pengoperasian dan perawatannya, dan (3) melatih anggota KWT agar dapat menggoperasikan mesin pemipih dengan baik. Kegiatan PKMU ini telah terlaksana dengan baik, (1) Tim Pengabdian telah membuat 1 unit mesin pemipih berkapasitas kerja teoritis 40 kg/jam, (2) mesin pemipih tersebut sudah diserahkan dan diaplikasikan oleh KWT Enggal Maju pada proses produksi emping jagung “Pawon Barokah”, (3) KWT Enggal Maju rata-rata mengolah 10 kg biji jagung setiap kali produksi dengan lama pemipihan sekitar 15 menit menggunakan mesin pemipih, dan (4) anggota KWT sudah terampil mengoperasikan mesin pemipih dengan baik serta memiliki pengetahuan dasar tentang perawatan mesin.

Abstract

Based on the survey result of vegetable crop production in Indonesia, the national carrot harvest area is 13,398 hectares spread over 16 provinces.  Meanwhile, the average carrot production in Lampung Province can reach 16,02 tons/year with a harvested area of 369 hectares (BPS, 2018).  Damage to horticultura commodities can occur if the post-harvest handling is not done well.  Many problems were found related to the decay of agricultural products due to the development of microorganisms which caused gread losses for farmers. Sterilization with UV lamps is an attempt to kill and eliminate pathogens or spoilage microbes that cause food spoilage. This sterilization aims to determine the effect of UV-C rays on the quality of carrot during storage. This research was conducted using a completely randomized design (CRD) with 2 factors, namely the irradiation distance factor (20 cm, 40 cm, and 60 cm) and the irradiation time (1-, 20, and 30 minutes). The data obtained were analyzed by ANOVA test. In the 60 cm irradiation distance treatment with an irradiation time of 30 minutes is the recommended storage distance because it can suppress root growth with an average value of 16,67 %, physical damage 14,58%, and gives the panelists the best assessment of the freshness level parameter with an average value of 3,24 (scale 5), texture with an average value of 3,25 (scale 5), and skin appearance with an average value of 3,15 (scale 5). Keywords: Carrots, Microbes, Influence, UV-C Rays, Radiation

Abstract

Banana stem waste can be used as raw material for animal feed by reducing the size so that it is easy to consume. The Banana Stem Chopper Machine type TEP-2 can be used to chop banana stems into pieces measuring 2-5 cm. In this research, machine testing was carried out with treatment of 1, 2 and 3 workers, then chopping analysis, break even point analysis and feasibility analysis were carried out. This research aims to determine the economic feasibility of the Banana Stem Chopper Machine type TEP-2 with how many workers will gain maximum profit. The analysis results show that chopping with 1, 2 and 3 workers is suitable for economic purposes. The best performance occurred in chopping with 3 workers which resulted in a work capacity of 1382.74 kg/hour, basic chopping costs of IDR 260.84/kg and a break-even point of 10,002.60 kg/year. Productive working hours are 6 hours per day and the price for chopped banana stems is IDR 500/kg, the potential profit is IDR 309,531,548.00/year.Keywords : Banana stem waste, chopping machine, economic analysis, feasibility analysis

Abstract

Porang is a type of tuber that is widely cultivated because of its high economic value. Porang tubers have good prospects to be developed as main and functional food ingredients. Processed porang tubers include porang chips, imitation rice, porang noodles, jelly and other preparations. One of the important processing of porang is the process of making porang tuber chips. Porang tuber chips can be made using a chopper machine. This study aims to test the performance of the porang tuber chopper machine. The research includes the theoretical test of the chopper machine and the actual test of the porang tuber chopper machine. The efficiency and effectiveness of the chopper also determinted. With the existence of an effective and efficient chopper machine, it can help farmers to chop porang tubers into porang tuber chips. Porang tuber chips have a higher economic value than porang tubers; with the chopper machine is expected to increase the income of porang farmers. The actual working capacity of the machine is 115kg/hour, the theoretical working capacity of the machine is 226 kg/hour and 78% for the large part and 74% for the small part, the thickness of the slices produced ranges from 3-8 mm; reached 85%.

Abstract

Potatoes are root crops and are classified as short-lived plants. The growth is bushy and creeping and has a rectangular stem. One effort to maintain the quality and shelf life of fruit is to process it into dry food (fruit chips). The way to produce healthy food without changing its original shape is to use Vacuum Frying technology. The purpose of this study was to produce the best quality potato chips at temperatures of 800C, 850C and 900C and the thickness of the sliced fruit was 1mm, 2mm and 3mm and to find out the temperature and thickness of the sliced fruit needed to produce chips with good quality. best. This study used a factorial complete randomized design using two factors. Each repetition was carried out 3 times, so that 27 experimental units were obtained. The parameters observed in this study were the analysis of material shrinkage, moisture content, frying time and organoleptic tests. The best potato chip frying to use in a vacuum frying machine is at a temperature of 900C and a thickness of 1mm fruit slices with a frying time of 26 minutes.Keywords: potatoes, chips, vacuum frying

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to find out the influence of deficit irrigation at flowering phase toward yield and water productivity of soybean plants.  This research held on October 2018 to January 2019 in  Integrated Laboratory of Agricultural Faculty, Lampung University.  This research used Completely Randomized Design (RAL) with five treatments and four replications.  The treatments are 0-100% of available soil water content (ID1), 0-80% of available soil water content (ID2), 0-60% of available soil water content (ID3), 0-40% of available soil water content (ID4), 0-20% of available soil water content (ID5).  The result of the yield showed that deficit irrigation at flowering phase had significant effect to all growth variable, growt, and water productivity.  The highest production was achieved by the treatment of ID1 amount 24,3 gram.  Optimum water productivity was achieved by the treatment of ID2 amount 0,47 g/l.

Abstract

SD Khoiru Ummah merupakan salah satu sekolah dasar yang mengedepankan adab serta ilmu dalam kehidupan sehari-hari. Salah satu hal yang paling penting yang perlu ditanamkan sejak dini adalah adab tentang kebersihan. Salah satu upaya yang dapat dilakukan mengatasi masalah tersebut yaitu dengan pengenalan dan penerapan konsep 3R (Reduce, Reuse, dan Recycle). Pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk menanamkan konsep kebersihan lingkungan serta menumbuhkan kebiasaan 3R (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) sejak dini. Pengabdian dilaksanakan pada 9 Agustus 2022. Metode yang digunakan untuk mendukung kegiatan ini ialah dengan memberikan edukasi tentang pengolahan limbah skala rumah tangga. Tahapan kegiatan program pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini meliputi: perumusan masalah berupa identifikasi timbulan limbah, sosialisasi penanganan limbah yang tepat untuk anak-anak, pelatihan pengelolaan limbah, pendampingan, dan terakhir adalah evaluasi kegiatan. Materi kegiatan sangat relevan dengan kebutuhan siswa dimana masih banyak siswa yang belum memahami tentang jenis-jenis sampah dan penerapan 3R dalam pengolahan sampah. Seletah mengikuti pemaparan materi dan pelatihan, para siswa jauh lebih memahami jenis sampah dan konsep 3R yang ditunjukkan dari hasil jawaban pada lembar post test. Sebanyak 61% siswa memahami konsep 3R dan 86% siswa memahami jenis-jenis sampah rumah tangga. Selain itu, mitra sangat antusias terhadap kegiatan dan berharap kegiatan serupa dapat dilaksanakan kembali.

Abstract

Coffee is one of the strategic plantation commodities that significantly contributes to the economy in Indonesia. The lack of proper post-harvest handling of coffee has resulted in the low quality of coffee beans produced by farmers affiliated with the Karya Makmur Farmer Group. This activity aims to (1) provide technical guidance on proper post-harvest handling of coffee to partner farmers, (2) modify drying racks and air circulation systems to enhance the capacity of the solar dryer dome, and (3) improve the quality of coffee beans produced in accordance with general coffee quality standards. The implementation of the activity has been successful, yielding the following results: 1) There has been an increase in knowledge and skills among members of the Karya Makmur farmer group in post-harvest coffee handling according to Good Handling Practices (GHP), 2) The Outreach Team has constructed one unit of a stacked-rack solar dryer with a drying capacity of 450 kg as an additional drying tool that can be utilized by the group, 3) The performance of the stacked-rack solar dryer produces better quality coffee beans compared to drying using the solar dryer stackted rak or sun-drying on the ground, and 4) The use of the stacked-rack solar dryer is effectively utilized by the Karya Makmur farmer group in the drying process of fresh coffee beans as well as for other commodities.
