The purpose of this research was to analyze the influence of strength training muscles, bones and joints against a decrease in complaints of menopause. This type of research, quasi experiments (draft two group pretest-posttest design with control group), involves the menopausal women, as many as 70 people. The data is processed with the univariate analysis, T-test with bivariate. There is a difference in the average score decline in menopausal complaints on measuring pretest and posttest on intervention group significantly. there's a difference, decreased menopausal complaints before and after the application of exercise muscle strength and bone. Movement of age-appropriate physical activity with a frequency three times a week and the duration of 30 minutes each exercise needs to be done and ongoing.

Abstract

Background: Anemia prevalence worldwide ranges from 30-50%, mostly occurring in developing countries, predominantly affecting adolescent groups. In Indonesia, the prevalence of anemia in females aged ≥15 years is 22.7%. Cases in Indonesia include 45% in Denpasar City and 62% in Bengkulu Province. Generally, adolescent girls are vulnerable to anemia due to significant blood loss during menstruation, posing risks of Low Birth Weight (LBW) and stunting during childbirth.Purpose: To determine the effectiveness of Progres MIRA (Specific Education Program for Anemia Prevention in Adolescents) on compliance with iron supplement consumption and hemoglobin levels in adolescent girls on Enggano Island, North Bengkulu Regency in 2023.Method: This study used a quasi-experimental post-test only method with a control group. The Progres MIRA research intervention involved a specific education program for anemia prevention in a special classroom setting. The independent variable was Progres MIRA, the dependent variables were hemoglobin levels and compliance with consuming iron supplement tablets, and external variables included menstrual duration, menstrual cycle, nutrient intake, and economic status. Results: The research findings showed that 82.9% of adolescent girls had a menstrual duration of >6 days, which influenced the amount of iron supplement tablet consumption among them. The menarche age among adolescent girls in the Progres MIRA group was 28.6% at an age <12 years. Compliance levels in treatment related to the menstrual duration variable obtained a ρ-value= 0.01, menarche age obtained a ρ-value= 0.57, malnutrition deficiency index obtained a ρ-value= 0.04, and MUAC obtained a ρ-value= 0.10. This indicates that Progres MIRA effectively increases compliance with iron supplement tablet consumption among adolescent girls. Conclusion: Progres MIRA is effective in improving compliance with iron supplement tablet consumption among adolescent girls. Recommended Dietary Allowance (RDA) significantly affects compliance with iron supplement tablet consumption among adolescent girls.

Abstract

Menopause causes major changes in reproductive and non-reproductive tissues. Estimating that 75% of postmenopausal women experience severe complaints. Changes during the menopausal transition risk-reducing women's quality of life. Supplementation of red clover and fish oil are some supplements that are used to overcome various menopause complaints. There are still few studies that compare the effectiveness of the two to improve quality of life. This study was to compare red clover with fish oil supplementation to improve the QOL in postmenopausal women. The quasi-experimental study with a nonequivalent control group design of 60 postmenopausal women was conducted. Participants were selected by consecutive sampling and equally divided into two groups. Each group was given red clover 400 mg once a day and fish oil supplementation 1000 mg (contains omega-3 marine triglycerides 300 mg as Eicosapentaenoic Acid (EPA) 180 mg and Docosahexaenoic Acid (DHA) 120 mg) once a day for twelve weeks. Quality of life was assessed using WHOQOL-BREF and postmenopausal complaints using a menopause rating scale questionnaire. The data were analyzed by Mann-Whitney U test, Wilcoxon Signed Rank test, and paired sample t-test. The mean (standard deviation) scores of the menopause rating scale (MRS) in the fish oil group were lower (2.10 [3.30]) than in the red clover group (3.97 [5.15]); p = 0.100. There were differences in QOL scores in the domain of psychical health (p=0.006), psychological (0.005), social relationships (0.010), and environment (0.010) in the fish oil group. In contrast, in the red clover group, differences were found in the domain of psychological (p=0.020), social relationships (0.022), and environment (0.002). There was no difference between the two groups.Fish oil supplementation was as effective as red clover to improve quality of life. Fish oil and red clover supplementation should be given to postmenopausal women with menopause complaints.

Abstract

Background: One factor influencing the health behavior of teenagers is their level of knowledge. Utilizing applications or digital media in health education can deliver information in a more engaging and easily understandable way for teenagers. This approach helps enhance their understanding of health issues like anemia. Digital interactions enable teenagers to access more detailed knowledge and follow information more effectively. Purpose: To increase the attitudes and behavior of teenagers towards the regular consumption of iron tablets and the prevention of anemia. Method: A quasi-experimental design with a post-test-only control group approach was conducted in the Enggano Island area, North Bengkulu Regency, from January to October 2023. The research examined the relationship between compliance with iron tablet consumption (independent variable) and outcomes such as menstruation duration, age of menarche, and nutritional status (dependent variables). Using purposive sampling, 70 participants were selected and divided into two groups: 35 in the treatment group and 35 in the control group, based on specific inclusion and exclusion criteria. Data analysis included univariate tests to assess the frequency distribution of participant characteristics, followed by bivariate analysis using Wilcoxon, Paired T-Test, Mann-Whitney, Independent Sample T-Test, and MANCOVA. Results: The MANCOVA test results demonstrated that the Chatting Mira education intervention significantly influenced adolescents' knowledge, behavior, compliance with consuming iron supplement tablets, and Hb levels. This was supported by a p-value of 0.000, which was below the α threshold of 0.05, indicating statistical significance at a 95% confidence level. Conclusion: The Chatting Mira education intervention effectively influences teenagers' attitudes and behaviors toward iron tablet consumption and anemia prevention. By utilizing peer-led education and structured activities, this program raises awareness, fosters healthy habits, and encourages adherence to iron supplementation, ultimately reducing the risk of anemia in adolescents.

Abstract

Background: Jaundice is a health problem for newborns that occurs in around 60% of term pregnancies and around 80% of premature pregnancies. Babies who experience severe jaundice need to receive proper examination and treatment to prevent morbidity and death. Mothers' role in overcoming the lack of breast milk in newborn babies is important. Hence, they need to be educated and empowered to avoid health problems that can be prevented if mothers and babies receive timely care. Objectives: This research aims to analyze the effect of maternal empowerment on preventing early jaundice in babies in Pematangsiantar City. Method: The method used was the quasi-experimental design with a non-equivalent control group design model, carried out on 62 pregnant women and jaundice assessment on 62 newborns (31 pregnant women who were given education and monitored for empowerment and 31 mothers who were given education but not monitored). Sampling was taken using consecutive sampling. Data collection used a validated questionnaire and statistical tests with chi-square. Results: Statistical tests showed that, after empowering mothers, 90.3% implemented IMD in the intervention group and 83.9% in the control group (p=0.707). The results showed that after empowering mothers there were 93.5% of babies did not experience jaundice, and in the control group 71.0% did not experience jaundice. Statistically, there was a difference between the two groups (p=0.46). Conclusion: Maternal empowerment can influence the prevention of jaundice in babies. Implementation of empowerment through providing education about IMD, breastfeeding, and jaundice needs to be carried out by health workers.
