Abstract

The existence of a Regional Drinking Water Company (PDAM) is very important in maintaining the continuity of the clean water treatment process running smoothly and well. Maintenance of clean water distribution machines and equipment is a matter that requires attention because damage to one of the machines or equipment can cause a cessation of processing activities which results in losses for companies and services. Damage to the water distribution machine in PDAM Tirta Mountala is unavoidable and this happens frequently. This happens because the damage is not properly identified, either in preventive maintenance or in anticipating appropriate action. The purpose of this study is to identify the cause of the damage and propose maintenance actions on the clean water distribution pump machine in PDAM Tirta Montala Aceh Besar. The failure mode and effect analysis (FMEA) and logic tree analysis (LTA) approaches are used to anticipate this. FMEA is an approach used to identify and analyze potential failures and their consequences. Meanwhile, LTA aims to prioritize each damage mode and carry out reviews and functions, malfunctions so that the damage mode status is not the same. There are eighteen water distribution pump components with the highest damage frequency. Based on the results of the FMEA, five components with the highest RPN or the highest risk were obtained, namely the vane, stuffing box, bearing bracket support, shaft and bearing components. The five components were then analyzed through LTA and maintenance tasks with several proposed actions including repair, component replacement, welding, thermography, and re-measurement with a vibration meter.

Abstract

This research aims to identify the sources of Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) hazards at PT. PLN (Persero) Transmisi dan Gardu Induk Meulaboh and to control the risks of OSH hazards at PT. PLN (Persero) Transmisi dan Gardu Induk Meulaboh. Focusing on power transmission, PT. PLN (Persero) Transmisi dan Gardu Induk Meulaboh is always committed to improving the quality and continuity of service to customers. However, considering the high inherent risks in electrical activities, the company realizes the importance of prioritizing safety and health at work (OSH) as an integral part of its operations. Given the high risks associated with electrical activities, this company needs to proactively identify and manage potential hazards that could threaten the safety of workers. Hazard identification, risk assessment, and determining control (HIRADC) are used to identify potential hazards, assess risks, and determine appropriate control measures for those hazards. HIRADC consists of three main stages, namely hazard identification, risk assessment, and hazard control. The results of the hazard and risk identification show that work activities at PT. PLN (Persero) Transmisi dan Gardu Induk Meulaboh contain a number of significant potential hazards including the risk of electric shock, exposure to hazardous chemicals, high noise levels, the potential to be struck by equipment, the risk of leaks, and the danger of fire. The consequences of exposure to these hazards can vary, ranging from minor injuries to fatal injuries. Some control measures that can be taken include the use of appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), the installation of hazard warning signs, and the implementation of safe work procedures.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the financial feasibility and sensitivity of investment in the rejuvenation of smallholder oil palm plantations in Lungmane Village, Kuala Pesisir Subdistrict, Nagan Raya Regency, Aceh Province, amidst the problem of declining Fresh Fruit Bunch (FFB) productivity due to aging trees. The research method used is quantitative analysis with investment criteria of Net Present Value (NPV), Internal Rate of Return (IRR), Net Benefit-Cost Ratio (Net B/C), and Payback Period (PP), as well as sensitivity analysis to changes in FFB prices. The results of the analysis show that the rejuvenation project for smallholder oil palm plantations in Lungmane Village is financially feasible based on positive NPV, IRR, Net B/C, and Payback Period indicators. However, the sensitivity analysis reveals that the project's feasibility is highly influenced by fluctuations in FFB prices, where a price decrease of up to 70% can render the project unfeasible. This study concludes that although the rejuvenation of smallholder oil palm plantations in Lungmane Village has good financial prospects, farmers need to be aware of the risk of declining FFB prices.

Abstract

AbstractThe sterilizer  station in the palm oil industry, such as that found at PT. Socfindo Seumanyam, is a work area with significant accident risks. The palm fruit sterilizer  process involves high temperatures, steam pressure, and the use of heavy equipment, all of which have the potential to pose hazards to workers. Work accidents in this area can not only cause physical injuries, but also material losses and operational disruptions. This research aims to analyze the efforts to prevent work accident risks at the PT. Socfindo Seumanyam sterilizer  station using the JSA method and the fishbone diagram. These two methods complement each other in an effort to create a safer work environment. JSA focuses on a step-by-step analysis of individual tasks, while the fishbone diagram provides a broader view of the factors contributing to accidents. The research results obtained that the sterilizer  station at PT. Socfindo Seumanyam has various significant potential hazards and work accident risks, ranging from burns due to high temperatures and hot steam, mechanical injuries due to equipment, to poisoning due to hazardous chemicals. To reduce these risks, comprehensive control measures are needed, including technical and administrative controls, and the use of appropriate PPE, as well as strict supervision through routine inspections and periodic evaluations. In addition, the identification of the root causes of work accidents using the fishbone diagram shows that human factors, machines/equipment, methods/procedures, work environment, and materials need to be seriously considered, with specific improvement recommendations for each factor. Keywords:Sterilizer station; work accident risk, job safety analysis; fishbone diagram AbstrakStasiun perebusan dalam industri kelapa sawit, seperti yang terdapat di PT. Socfindo Seumanyam, merupakan area kerja dengan risiko kecelakaan yang signifikan.Proses perebusan buah kelapa sawit melibatkan suhu tinggi, tekanan uap, dan penggunaan peralatan berat, yang semuanya berpotensi menimbulkan bahaya bagi pekerja. Kecelakaan kerja di area ini tidak hanya dapat menyebabkan cedera fisik, tetapi juga kerugian material dan gangguan operasional. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis upaya pencegahan risiko kecelakaan kerja di stasiun perebusan PT. Socfindo Seumanyam dengan menggunakan metode JSA dan diagram fishbone.Kedua metode ini saling melengkapi dalam upaya menciptakan lingkungan kerja yang lebih aman. JSA fokus pada analisis langkah demi langkah dari tugas individu, sementara diagram fishbone memberikan pandangan yang lebih luas tentang faktor-faktor yang berkontribusi terhadap kecelakaan. Hasil penelitian diperoleh bahwa stasiun perebusan/sterilizer  di PT. Socfindo Seumanyam memiliki berbagai potensi bahaya dan risiko kecelakaan kerja yang signifikan, mulai dari luka bakar akibat suhu tinggi dan uap panas, cedera mekanis akibat peralatan, hingga keracunan akibat bahan kimia berbahaya. Untuk mengurangi risiko tersebut, diperlukan implementasi tindakan pengendalian yang komprehensif, mencakup pengendalian teknik, administratif, dan penggunaan APD yang tepat, serta pengawasan yang ketat melalui inspeksi rutin dan evaluasi berkala. Selain itu, identifikasi akar penyebab kecelakaan kerja menggunakan diagram fishbone menunjukkan bahwa faktor manusia, mesin/peralatan, metode/prosedur, lingkungan kerja, dan material perlu diperhatikan secara serius, dengan rekomendasi perbaikan yang spesifik untuk setiap faktor.Kata Kunci:Stasiun perebusan; risiko kecelakaan kerja, job safety analysis; diagram fishbone

Abstract

This community service activity is part of the Regular Community Service Program (KKN) held in Lancong Village, Sungai Mas District, West Aceh Regency. The focus of this activity is to increase elementary school students' awareness of the dangers of bullying, strengthen clean and healthy living behaviors (PHBS), and develop creativity in the learning process. The background of this activity is based on the still low understanding of some students about the negative impacts of bullying, lack of habits of maintaining personal hygiene, and limited channels for expressing creative ideas in schools. The activity was carried out at Lancong Public Elementary School involving students in grades 4 to 6 through an interactive educational approach. The methods used included informative presentations, educational games, group discussions, and creative practice in the form of making thematic posters. The session on bullying was aimed at providing an understanding of the forms of bullying, its impact on victims and the school environment, as well as prevention and handling strategies. PHBS material was delivered through demonstrations of how to wash hands properly, maintain a clean classroom environment, and the implementation of a healthy lifestyle every day. In the creativity development section, students were invited to express anti-bullying and PHBS messages through posters that were then presented in front of their peers. The results of the activity showed an increase in students' understanding of the importance of mutual respect, avoiding bullying, and practicing healthy lifestyles. Furthermore, students' skills in expressing ideas creatively also developed, as seen from the enthusiasm and quality of the posters produced. This program has had a positive impact on shaping positive attitudes and habits in the school environment, while also serving as a model for educational activities that can be implemented in other schools. Thus, this activity contributes to the holistic development of students' character, encompassing social, health, and creativity aspects.

Abstract

This Community Service Program (PKM) is implemented by Industrial Engineering Lecturers at Teuku Umar University as part of the implementation of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, with a focus on empowering the youth of Aceh to face the challenges of industrial development following the expiration of the Special Autonomy Fund (Otsus) in 2027, which has played a crucial role in economic activities in Aceh Province. The critical role of the Otsus Fund for Aceh Province must be mitigated to minimise risks after the fund's expiration. The activity themed ‘Industry 4.0 Literacy for High School Students Toward Economic Independence Post-Otsus Aceh’ aims to equip participants with the knowledge to enhance local industrial growth through a more efficient Industry 4.0 approach. Through interactive lectures, structured discussions, and question-and-answer sessions using a pretest-posttest measurement approach, the PKM team can assess improvements in understanding across three critical pillars: understanding Industry 4.0, the Aceh Special Autonomy Fund and the economy, and digital technopreneurship based on local strengths. The community service activity involved 40 students from Calang 1 Public High School, consisting of both female and male students, using a pretest and posttest approach that contained information about the three critical pillars. Technically, the questions on the pretest and posttest were made different in order to obtain objective results. The measurement of ability was carried out for 5 hours, using the Growth Rate Analysis approach, the results showed a 92% increase in learning outcomes, with the average pretest score of 38.2 improving to an average posttest score of 73.3, focusing on topics related to digital transformation and economic independence in Aceh. This programme not only fulfils educational objectives but also instils an entrepreneurial mindset based on Industry 4.0 for the next generation of Aceh.

Abstract

This study analyzes the efficiency of diesel fuel inventory management at PT. XYZ, located in Desa Peunaga Cut Ujong, Kecamatan Meureubo, Kabupaten Aceh Barat, Aceh. The main problem faced by the company is inefficient fuel inventory management, leading to a mismatch between stock and usage, potential equipment downtime, and high inventory costs. The research objective is to evaluate PT. XYZ's current fuel inventory policy and compare it with the application of the Economic Order Quantity (EOQ) method to identify potential improvements in efficiency and cost savings. The research method used is a quantitative approach with a comparative descriptive design. Secondary data, including records of fuel purchases, usage, and ordering and holding costs for 2024, were collected from PT. XYZ's Supply Chain Management (SCM) division, supplemented by primary data from interviews. Data analysis involved calculating EOQ, determining optimal ordering frequency, safety stock, reorder point, and comparing the Total Inventory Cost (TIC) between the company's existing policy and the EOQ method. The results indicate that PT. XYZ's current fuel inventory management policy incurs significantly higher Total Inventory Costs (TIC) compared to those achievable using the EOQ method. Implementing EOQ substantially optimizes order quantity, frequency, safety stock, and reorder point, which in turn can lead to considerable cost reductions. This suggests that adopting the EOQ recommendations can improve operational efficiency and provide financial benefits for PT. XYZ.

Abstract

Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk mensosialisasikan program pendampingan dalam pembuatan alat Teknologi Tepat Guna (TTG) guna mendukung produksi kue karah, sebuah makanan tradisional khas Aceh, di Desa Langung, Kecamatan Meureubo, Aceh Barat. Sosialisasi ini bertujuan untuk memberikan pemahaman kepada masyarakat mengenai konsep TTG, manfaatnya dalam meningkatkan efisiensi kerja, dan potensi penerapannya dalam industri rumah tangga lokal. Kegiatan dilakukan dengan pendekatan partisipatif melalui penyampaian materi, diskusi kelompok, dan tanya jawab interaktif. Materi yang disampaikan mencakup pengenalan konsep TTG, tahapan pembuatan alat, serta contoh penerapan TTG dalam usaha sejenis. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan antusiasme masyarakat yang tinggi terhadap ide pengembangan alat TTG. Tingkat pemahaman masyarakat terhadap sosialisasi alat TTG mencapai 88,9%, sementara tingkat penerimaan masyarakat terhadap alat TTG tercatat sebesar 96,3%. Peserta menunjukkan pemahaman yang baik mengenai pentingnya inovasi teknologi dalam mendukung peningkatan produktivitas dan daya saing produk lokal. Selain itu, sosialisasi ini berhasil mendorong kesadaran masyarakat untuk lebih terbuka terhadap teknologi dan inovasi sebagai upaya meningkatkan kualitas dan kuantitas produksi kue karah. Program ini diharapkan menjadi langkah awal yang strategis dalam mendorong implementasi TTG di Desa Langung untuk mendukung pertumbuhan ekonomi lokal yang berkelanjutan.

Abstract

This community service activity aims to improve the understanding of traditional shipyard stakeholders regarding the importance of feasibility studies in implementing ship docking technology. The program was conducted at CV Wahana Karya, a traditional shipyard in Pasi Pinang Village, Meureubo District, West Aceh Regency, involving the owner, director, and operational workers. A participatory knowledge transfer approach was applied through three stages: preparation, implementation, and evaluation. The materials covered feasibility study concepts, their role in decision-making, and the potential benefits of docking technology. Data were collected through observation, discussion, and participant feedback, and analyzed descriptively. The results show an increased understanding among participants regarding the role of feasibility studies in supporting efficient and informed decision-making. However, implementation readiness remains limited due to financial constraints, workforce preparedness, and resistance to change. This activity demonstrates that knowledge transfer is essential in bridging research and practice and serves as an initial step toward improving operational efficiency in traditional shipyards.

Abstract

Operational reliability of Boilers in Steam Power Plants (PLTU) is often undermined by reactive and fragmented maintenance strategies that trigger frequent unplanned shutdowns and operational inefficiencies. This study aims to optimize preventive maintenance schedules for nine critical Boiler components in Units 1 and 2 of PLTU Nagan Raya using a Genetic Algorithm-based Grouping Maintenance strategy. Failure behaviour of components such as Cyclone Separators, Coal Feeders, and Fans is first modelled using Weibull and Normal distributions, selected through the Anderson–Darling goodness-of-fit test. An optimization model is then developed to determine a single global maintenance interval that maximizes operating time while satisfying a minimum system reliability constraint of 60%. Simulation of individual component scheduling yields highly non-synchronized intervals, ranging from 14 to 78 days, which would result in excessive shutdown frequency if implemented directly. Through Genetic Algorithm optimization, an optimal grouped maintenance interval of 10.42 days is obtained, driven primarily by the Primary Air Fan as the system bottleneck. Although this interval sacrifices part of the remaining life of more durable components, the grouped strategy significantly reduces the total number of shutdowns and simplifies maintenance planning. The main contribution of this study is a reliability-constrained grouped maintenance scheduling model for multi-component boiler systems in coal-fired power plants, providing a practical decision-support tool for improving unit availability.
