Abstract

Science teaching in junior high school based on the 2013 curriculum should be done in an integrated form. In this case, the integration of science material includes Physics, Chemistry, Biology and its applications. The real condition indicated that the integrated Science teaching in schools can’t be applied in accordance with expected condition. The solution of the problem is to apply the integrated science learning material by integrating the literacy. The purpose of the research was to determine the effect of the application of integrated Science learning material by integrating literacy on the digestive health theme in the scientific approach to the competency of grade VIII students in SMPN 8 Padang. This type of research was quasi-experimental research with a before-after design. The research population was all grade VIII students of SMPN 8 Padang in the academic year 2018/2019. The research sample was obtained by both purposive sampling technique and cluster random sampling. The instrument of knowledge aspect of competency was written test in the form of multiple choice, skills aspect was performance assessment sheet, and attitudes aspect was observation sheet. The data analysis techniques in the research were descriptive statistical analysis, normality test, homogeneity test, paired comparison test and Wilcoxon test. From the data analysis, it can be concluded that the application of integrated Science learning material by integrating literacy has a significant effect on the three competencies of grade VIII students including knowledge, skills, and attitudes at the 95% confidence level.

Abstract

Achieving the competencies of students in science subjects has not shown optimal results because students are not accustomed to finding, searching for, and solving their own concepts learned, but only listening and writing what is conveyed by the teacher. Teachers often deliver learning material by lecture methods rather than practicing in the laboratory. In addition, students still depend on what is conveyed by the teacher and the low interest or willingness of students to read can also lead to low competency of students. Assessment activities that still focus on the final assessment must be changed to authentic assessment, where authentic assessment assesses from the preparation, process, and final results of learning activities. Therefore, researchers chose to use the Conceptual Understanding Procedures (CUPS) model with authentic assessments to be able to improve students' competencies. This research is limited to heat and energy material which aims to investigate the effect of the application of the CUPS model on increasing the competency of VII grade students in SMP 3 Lengayang. The type of research conducted is Quasy Experiment Research with the design of Randomized Control Group Only Design. The population of this study was VII grade students of SMP 3 Lengayang who were enrolled in the odd semester of the 2017/2018 academic year. Sampling is done by purposive sampling technique. Knowledge competency data were obtained through written tests. Data obtained were analyzed using two similarity tests on average. The results showed that knowledge competency data, the average experimental class 78.36 was higher than the control class 70.26. The data is normally distributed and the variance is homogeneous, so that the two similarity tests are carried out on average with the t-test, obtained tcount = 2,378 and t table = 2,019. It can be concluded that the application of LKS is based on the CUPS model by giving an influence on increasing the achievement of science competencies of the seventh grade students of SMP 3 Lengayang on all three competencies

Abstract

The education system is required to be able to follow the development of science and technology to prepare a generation that is ready to deal with the challenges of this era. The current curriculum is curriculum 2013. In curriculum 2013 students are required to be active and able to learn independently. The procurement of teaching materials at SMP Negeri 7 Padang is considered not to be able to support independent learning, especially during this online learning period. This study aims to produce science e-module for SMP/MTs based on a contextual approach on work and simple machines to valid and practical. Type of research is Research and Development (R&D) using the Plomp model which consists of three stages, namely the preliminary research, the prototyping stage, and the assessment phase. The research subjects were 3 lecturers of Science Education, FMIPA UNP, teachers and students of SMP Negeri 7 Padang. The instrument used is a questionnaire of validity and practicality. The research data is processed using the kappa moment formula. Based on the results of data analysis, the results of the validity test, the results of the practicality test based on the teacher's response, and the practicality test based on the student's responses were 0.85, 0.87, and 0.83 with very high category. It can be concluded that the e-module for SMP/MTs based on a contextual approach on work and simple machines has been valid and practical for use in class VIII SMP/MTs.

Abstract

Abstract

The implementation of learning during the COVID-19 pandemic meant that the learning process that was initially carried out in person must be carried out towards distance learning (online). Of course, this requires different preparations, both before the start of the apprenticeship and during it. To adjust the circumstances that occur, we need teaching material based on a Scientific Approach that can help students to be able to learn autonomously. This research aims to reveal the value of the validity and practicality of the electronic physics module based on the scientific approach that was developed. The type of research carried out is research and development or Research and Development (R&D) using the Plomp model that is limited to the one-to-one evaluation stage. The research instrument used a questionnaire in the form of content and construct validity cards. The developed electronic module was validated by five validators, including three physics professors and two physics professors at SMA Negeri 5 Solok Selatan and six students at SMA Negeri 5 Solok Selatan. Data analysis used Cohen's Kappa moment value for validity and practicality.Based on the data analysis, the validity test results were 0.89 with a very valid category. The practicality test scores for students are 0.90 in the very practical category and 0.86 for educators are in the very practical category. It can be concluded that the electronic physics module based on the scientific approach using the Sigil software is valid and practical for the X SMA/MA class students.
