Abstract

Humanisme adalah suatu faham filsafat yang menjunjung tinggi nilai-nilai dan kedudukan manusia serta menjadikannya sebagai kriteria segala sesuatu. Humanisme mempunyai objek utama yaitu sifat hakiki manusia beserta batas-batas dan kecenderungan alamiahnya. Humanisme sebagai istilah, dalam sejarah intelektual, selalu menyoroti persoalan-persoalan kemanusiaan yang sering digunakan di dalam kajian bidang filsafat. Humanisme sebagai gerakan intelektual muncul pada era renaissance yang memiliki akar kuat pada zaman Yunani Kuna. Dua hal pokok di dalam peradaban Yunani Kuna yang menjadi sumber konsep humanisme adalah perkembangan pemikiran filsafat dari persoalan alam (kosmologis) menuju pembicaraan soal-soal manusia (antropologis); dan konsep “paideia” sebagai sistem pendidikan Yunani Kuna yang menjadi awal dari kesadaran intelektual manusia dan menjadi perenungan eksistensi manusia dalam bentuk daya nalarnya. Kata Kunci: humanisme, paideia, Yunani Kuno

Abstract

Sutan Takdir Alisyahbana is one of the Indonesian greatest intellectuals concerned with human and cultural issues.He is a man of letters, linguist, philosopher and social scientist.His background of knowledge is different from most sociologists, anthropologists and historians so that it is not surprise that his thought of culture has its own style.His thoughts are rooted in humanism which developed inEurope since Renaissance to the rise of neo-positivism. According to him, a reality is a result of intellect and a movement of values.He believes that ethics generally is the core of individual, social, and cultural life. Ethical relationships of value are the main core of cultural issue. Human, as a creator of culture, has a dual nature. One side, human is a natural creature and on the other side, human is an intellectual/ reason creature. As a natural creature, human is subjected to natural laws which control his/her birth and physical life. Meanwhile, as an intellectual/ reason creature, according to him, human obedience to the law of reason defines humanity and allows human creates a high culture.Keywords: Sutan Takdir Alisyahbana, value, human, culture.

Abstract

Emha Ainun Najib, or Emha, is a poet, artist, writer, thinker, and other populist designations that exist in Indonesian society. As a writer, his essays in the 1980s to the 1990s very coloring various mass media in Indonesia. There, many critical discourses and sharp in highlighting the social reality, religion, art and culture. The studies reviewed Emha thoughts in perspective philosophy of humanism. The result was found, that the thought Emha have a strong spirit in his defense to the humanitarian aspects (humanism). Spirit is supported by the value of spirituality and religiosity that leads to ethical purpose, namely a quality of “consciousness”. Humanism Emha is theistic humanism which has the potential to be used as a solution-critical reflections on the problems of social life.

Abstract

Humanism is a philosophical view that upholds values and positions of human and make it as a criterion of all things. Humanism has its main object that is human nature, its limits and natural tendencies. Humanism as a term in the intellectual history has always highlighted problems of humanity that is often used in the study of philosophy. Humanism as an intellectual movement emerged in the Renaissance era which roots in Ancient Greece. Two main points of the Ancient Greek civilization as sources of humanism concept are a philosophical development from problems of nature (cosmological) into discussion about problems of human (anthropological); and the concept of "paideia" as the Ancient Greek education system that becomes the beginning of human consciousness and intellectual, and also a reflection of human existence in the form of reason.
