Abstract

Pasirtanjung village has many young people who have an essential role in the village. However, although the number of youths is quite large, the Karang Taruna in Pasirtanjung Village is still unable to function optimally because members are not active enough to contribute. Therefore, Karang Taruna does not function like a youth organization. Meanwhile, to make the organization function optimally (achieve its goals), it is necessary to have contributions from each member. Community service activities are designed to build a better village community, in this case, Karang Taruna. This activity resulted in a program to improve team building for youth organizations. This is done to strengthen teamwork, improve group performance, and increase emotional attachment between group members and trust between members. Moreover, it optimizes the role of Karang Taruna in achieving its goal as one of the community institutions that helps build the village. The first step in building team building is strengthening group cohesiveness within the youth organization.A series of programs were designed to improve team building: 1) providing materials, 2) training, and 3) Focus group discussions. These team-building activities have been proven to help improve group performance. Systematic team-building activities can increase emotional attachment between group members and trust between members. This series of activities can ultimately be measured through pretest-posttest measurements related to group cohesion. The results show that the understanding of youth regarding group cohesion in youth organizations has increased after being given training. This training can provide new insights to the trainees that developing an organization requires an active and mutually supportive team.

Abstract

Mental health problems in young adults continue to increase in Indonesia, especially problems related to relationships with others. This study aims to examine the effect of adult attachment on mental well-being in young adults. Data collection was conducted in the form of a survey using the Adult Attachment Style Questionnaire and The Warwick-Edinburgh Mental Well-Being Scale. Participants in this study were 302 people aged 18 to 40 years who lived in Jabodetabek. The data analysis used multiple linear regression. The results of this study indicate that overall attachment style has a significant effect on mental well-being. Secure attachment (χ²(1) = 272.02, p <.001) and dismissing attachment (χ²(1) = 15.08, p <.001) both significantly contributed to predicting mental well-being, while fearful attachment (χ²(1) = 11.37, p = .001) and preoccupied attachment (χ²(1) = 4.58, p = .032) had a significant negative influence on mental well-being. These findings will provide implications for improving the mental well-being of young adults by considering their attachments in adulthood and can be a reference for professionals to develop psychological interventions for mental well-being.

Abstract

Young lecturers often face challenges at the start of their careers, including the demands of the Tridharma of Higher Education (research publications, teaching load, and community service), financial uncertainty, and heavy administrative burdens, which also impact their mental health. This study aims to investigate the role of resilience, mediated by perceived social support, on mental health. A cross-sectional study design was used with 170 young lecturers in Indonesia as participants. Using the Connor Davidson Resilience Scale (CD RISC) for Resilience, Mental Health Inventory (MHI-18) for Mental Health, and the Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support (MSPSS) for Social Support. Preliminary analyses, including correlation, were conducted to confirm the relationships between the study variables. These tests established a significant total effect of Resilience, Social Support, and Mental Health. Next, Mediation analysis using bootstrapping was used as the analysis method through the PROCESS model 4 of SPSS v27.0 software. Results from the regression analysis revealed that Resilience (X) had a significant and positive total effect on Mental Health (Y). Further analysis testing the role of Social Support (M) revealed that it partially mediated this relationship. Resilience impacts Mental Health through two distinct pathways: (1) a significant direct effect (Resilience to Mental Health) and (2) a significant indirect effect (Resilience → Social Support → Mental Health), where Resilience enhances Social Support, which in turn improves Mental Health. Therefore, these findings offer valuable insights for institutions to enhance the well-being of young lecturers in Indonesia through systemic interventions, such as fostering a supportive work climate, implementing structured research mentoring programs between senior and junior lecturers, and promoting work-life balance.
