Kata kunci: Motivasi, Perilaku, Menggosok Gigi ABSTRACT Dental and oral health is one part of body health that cannot be separated from one another. Problems that arise in the bad habit of brushing their teeth in school-age children can be caused by a lack of knowledge and attention from their parents. Attention here can be a motivation that can encourage children to do. Good motivation is motivation that comes from within the individual itself. There were teeth and mouth problems that were experienced during the COVID-19 pandemic, namely dry throat, bad breath and bleeding gums when brushing teeth when using dental floss, then pain in the gums or mouth, and holes in newly formed teeth. There are specific ways to brush your teeth during the Covid-19 pandemic, such as brushing your teeth 2 times a day, in the morning after breakfast and at night before going to bed, using an antiseptic mouthwash as recommended, cleaning leftovers with dental floss, and using a special toothbrush, namely an interdental toothbrush. This study was to determine the relationship between motivation and behavior on the frequency of brushing the teeth of students at SD Negeri 2 Petasia, North Morowali Regency, Central Sulawesi Province during the COVID-19 pandemic. The research design used in this study was analytic observational with a cross sectional approach. The type of sampling used in this study was purposive sampling with a sample of 51 children. Data were analyzed using chi-square. Based on the results of the statistical test, it can be concluded that there is no significant relationship between motivation and the frequency of brushing students' teeth during the COVID-19 pandemic (p=0.706). Meanwhile, the results of the statistical test between behavior and the frequency of brushing students' teeth during the COVID-19 pandemic show a significant relationship (p=0.046). Keywords : Motivation, behavior, tooth brushing

Abstract

Pulpitis is an inflammation of the dental pulp tissue that often causes pain and is one of the most common dental health problems found in the community. Eugenol is known to have analgesic, anti-inflammatory, and antiseptic properties that have the potential to be used as an initial therapy to reduce pain in pulpitis patients. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of using eugenol as an analgesic in reducing pain in pulpitis patients at the Nuhrintama Outpatient Clinic. This study used a quantitative method with a pre-experimental one group pretest-posttest design. The study sample consisted of 34 respondents selected using an accidental sampling technique. Pain levels were measured using the Faces Pain Rating Scale before, after, and 7 days after the intervention. Data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test because the data were not normally distributed. The results showed that before eugenol administration, most respondents experienced moderate pain (85.3%), then after eugenol administration, pain decreased with the majority of respondents in the mild pain category (58.8%) and 23.5% did not feel pain. After 7 days, 64.7% of respondents did not feel pain and only 5.9% still experienced moderate pain. The statistical test results showed a p-value of 0.000 (p < 0.05), which means there was a significant difference between the pain levels before and after eugenol administration. The conclusion of this study is that eugenol is effective as an analgesic in reducing pain in pulpitis patients at the Nuhrintama Pratama Clinic.
