Abstract

The aims of this study is to investigate the experiences of 12 Makassar University lecturers lecturers in planning and writing their English language teaching (ELT) textbooks. The results of interpretative phenomenological analysis (IPA) revealed that, despite a number of pedagogical issues and challenges, these lecturers had a positive attitude toward writing their ELT textbooks, as revealed by an in-depth semi-structured individual interview (IDI) and a focus group discussion (FGD). They believed that creating teaching resources for their classes would not only help them meet their students' linguistic demands, but would also improve their lecturing experience. This article argues that writing a textbook for classroom use is a form of pedagogical reflective practice for lecturers that allows them to provide their students with appropriate activities and lessons for effective language teaching and learning, drawing on Tomlinson's notion of the importance of personalizing and localizing ELT textbooks to maximize students' learning. The findings' ramifications are addressed, and recommendations are made.

Abstract

The low level of Indonesian human resources is due to the lack of mastery of science and technology, because of the mental attitude and mastery of science and technology which can be the subjects or reliable development actors. In the framework of globalization, the preparation of education needs to be synergized with the demands of competition. Therefore the dimensions of competitiveness in HR are increasingly becoming an important factor so that efforts to boost the quality of human resources through education are demands that must be put forward. With mastery of science and technology, the community will be able to compete in the era of globalization. The ability to master science and technology in general must be owned by the community, especially residents of slum settlements on the banks of the east canal floods. Therefore, it takes care of academics to participate in helping improve the quality of human resources through a sewing course at the Enrekang district learning center. So that with the mastery of science and technology of mountain residents living in remote areas very far from science and technology facilities can change the standard of living to be better. Seeing such conditions, one of the steps that needs to be taken is to improve the quality of human resources. Improving the quality of human resources that starts early can affect the competitiveness of the individual. The step taken is to provide additional skills to those of productive age. One of the skills that will be given to the community is through a sewing course at the Enrekang district learning activity studio. With the skills through sewing courses in the Enrekang district learning activities studio, it is hoped that the community will be able to compete to get a better job.

Abstract

Abstract

Farmers in Enrekang Regency, especially in Benteng Alla Utara Village, generally manage coffee plantations as their source of livelihood. The type of coffee produced is Arabica Kalosi Enrekang which is known to have a taste and aroma favored by coffee connoisseurs. Coffee beans are produced to meet the needs of foreign exports in quite large quantities. Processed waste of coffee cherries in the form of coffee pod skins is a waste of production residue that is not utilized optimally by the community. Dried coffee berry skin waste known as cascara has the potential to be developed into health drink and cosmetic dosage forms. Products designed based on the innovative development of local natural ingredients and the needs of the community in general are in the form of herbal teas, syrups, fermented drinks, face masks, creams and body soaps. Products that utilize coffee pod waste can become the superior product of the Enrekang area which can be produced by empowering the community through MSMEs and continuing to prioritize local local wisdom. Superior products can be created by increasing people's skills through product manufacturing training by taking into account standardized product quality parameters with the aim of obtaining safe and quality products.

Abstract

The purpose of this service is to introduce and provide training on the use of Autodesk Inventor software to produce Computer-aided Design (CAD) based technical drawings according to the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). The method is carried out through theory, practice, and discussion, as well as completing machine design tasks independently and in groups. The training materials include working drawings, basic introduction to CAD, two-dimensional (2D) and three-dimensional (3D) drawing modeling, assembly, and presentation of 3D models. Evaluation of activities assessed refers to the readiness to complete the design task and the suitability of the drawings according to ISO standards. Based on the results of the basic level CAD training, there were achievements where participants had completed the technical drawing briefing material and completed the given design task. The design project task given requires mastery in terms of making 3D models from 2D sketch images, making layout drawings, making working drawings, and presenting them in a moving model presentation format. Successful completion of the task indicates that the participants understand and can operate the Autodesk Inventor software. In conclusion, this basic ability can be used as a provision for participants' self-development in the development and mastery of advanced CAD. This activity contributes based on the high interest in participating in training to the end and completing assignments and also has an indirect impact on the preparation of skilled CAD workers in the industry in Aceh.
