Abstract

Abstract

This study analyzes household waste generation and the sustainability of the TPS3R Mojo Makmur waste management system in the City of Surakarta in response to increasing urban waste problems. The results show that household waste generation is still dominated by organic waste, while inorganic waste is relatively lower. Socioeconomic factors such as age, education level, and income do not significantly affect the total amount of waste generated but do influence waste composition. Multidimensional sustainability assessment indicates that TPS3R Mojo Makmur falls into the moderately sustainable category, with ecological and technological dimensions as its main strengths, particularly in waste reduction and the application of basic processing technologies. In contrast, the economic and socio-cultural dimensions remain challenging, especially in terms of limited economic value creation and suboptimal community participation. These findings highlight the need for policies that strengthen TPS3R institutional capacity, promote community-based circular economy development, and enhance public education and engagement. Support from local governments in the form of regulations, funding, and technological innovation is essential to improve the sustainability of integrated household waste management.

Abstract

The world's response to the Covid-19 pandemic would impact the target of achieving the 17 Sustainable Development Goals SDGs) in 2030. When the world needed to accelerate the achievement of SDGs targets, the Covid-19 pandemic brought global uncertainty. This study discussed several lessons from the Covid-19 pandemic and the impact of the pandemic in accelerating the achievement of the 17 SDGs targets. This research was conducted using a qualitative approach with bibliometric and descriptive evaluative analysis methods. The study results revealed that although it caused a global economic contraction and various health problems, the Covid-19 pandemic should be used as a momentum to evaluate and make necessary improvements in achieving the SDGs in 2030. Based on this study, all SDGs goals have an integrated nature, so that progress towards one SDG goal would affect the other goals. Therefore, global collaborative efforts from all stakeholders are needed to achieve the 17 SDGs targets.

Abstract

The comprehensive treatment of rural water pollution was pioneered by developed countries, and many nations now have a variety of sewage treatment facilities and process technology that are suitable for their rural features. Domestic sewage is handled differently at sewage treatment facilities in cities than it is in rural areas. Its distributed drainage sites make it difficult to collect. The Indonesian government is implementing domestic wastewater treatment (DWWT) to reduce water pollution in areas without separate residential waste processing. The results of this analysis show that an extensive amount of maintenance is needed to ensure that the DWWT and its distribution system run as efficiently as possible. The Cahaya Abadi Housing in Sri Mulya Village, Sematang Borang District, Palembang City, is where the study is being carried out. DWWT Cahaya Abadi processes domestic liquid waste from household activities, although even though the facility has room for 169 dwellings, only 31 homes use it. As a result, capacity is not being used. The results of identifying the technical factors show that the use of pumps results in differences in flow discharge that affect the outcomes of the DWWT output. The extremely rapid pump that is being used has an impact on the processing process and the current detention time.
