Abstract

Based on Data Riset Kesehatan Dasar Indonesia (2013), 65% cases of diseases are caused by non-contagious diseases, one of them is cervical cancer. Individual response to the cancer varies depend on personality and their perception about social support. This study uses McCrae-Costa’s Big Five Personality Theory (2003) and Cohen’s Social Support (2002). Sixty cervical cancer patients, selected by accidental sampling, were given personality and social support questionnaire. Each trait’s score tested its contribution to social support’s score with Multilinear Regression Test by SPPS 20. Agreeableness contributes to perception about appraisal support (F=8.303) and belonging support (F=4.501). Extraversion contributes to perception about appraisal support (F=7.7). Openness to experience contributes to perception about belonging support (F=5.465) and tangible support (F=3.922). Neuroticism and Conscientiousness do not contribute to perception about any social support dimensions. Hopefully this study can be used by the patient’s family, the hospital, and LSM in giving social support and also for the patient to understand about their personality and know what kind of help they do need from people around. Keywords: cervical cancer, big five personality, social support, Multilinear Regression Test

Abstract

Individuals with dementia (IWD) need a caregiver, usually their own family, to take care of them. Family caregiver often have others role beside being a caregiver. Therefore, family caregiver will involve in many high pressure situation, which can be perceive as burden of care. Burden of care can be a risk of burnout. This research used burden of care theory by Zarit (1986) and burnout theory  by Maslach (2003). Sample in this research are 40 IWD’s  family caregiver in Alzheimer Community. This sample collected using purposive sampling technique. The research instruments were MBI-HSS questionnaire (validity: 0.364-0.832; reliability: 0.91) and ZBI-12 questionnaire (validity: 0.325-0.905; reliability: 0.926). The two questionnaires were modified to fit the participant’s characteristics. Both questionnaires were correlated using correlation test of spearman’s rho with  SPSS 23 to find out the relationship between burden of care and burnout. Based on this test, correlation coefficient score of 0.899 with p=0.00 was achieved. This result shows that there is a significant positive correlation between burden of care and burnout experienced by the family caregiver in the Alzheimer Community. In this research, sex was the only sociodemography variable that correlated with burnout.

Abstract

Measuring persistence or grit among university students in Indonesia is crucial, given the unique characteristics of the Indonesian context compared to Western countries. Indonesian researchers have predominantly utilized Duckworth's grit scale, which consists of two dimensions. This study aims to develop a grit measurement tool for Indonesian university students by adding a third dimension, independence, and to conduct a psychometric evaluation of the instrument. The grit construct was redefined based on three new dimensions, followed by measurements and analyses including content validity testing, readability testing, item discrimination analysis, reliability testing, and confirmatory analysis. The results showed a Cronbach's Alpha coefficient of 0.896 and a McDonald's Omega coefficient of 0.898. The standardized loading factor for items ranged from 0.608 to 0.816. Fit indices results were as follows: CFI 0.928; TLI 0.906; RMSEA 0.08; SRMR 0.043. The analysis demonstrated that the grit measurement tool has strong reliability coefficients and fits well in confirmatory analysis, indicating its validity as a 12-item instrument.
