Abstract

Kata kunci: domestikasi, easy touch GCU, gula darah, karbohidratABSTRACTDogs (Canis lupus familiaris) are one of the most kept pets in the world. The characteristics of being loyal, easy to train and friendly with humans are added values for this pet, in fact dogs are carnivorous animals that made protein be their main energy source. However, in the midst of society, there are still give rice to their dogs, so this research was conducted to determine the blood sugar levels of dogs and the factors that influence it. This research was carried out by field observation and examination of 30 samples of dog blood samples in Bukittinggi City, then checked the sample using the easy touch GCU and the results showed that there were significant differences in the blood sugar levels of dogs before and after eating, which at the time of eating the dog blood sugar was 73.37±10.88 mg/dL and two hours after feeding was 112.06±14.148 mg/dL this was related to the characteristics of carbohydrates that were quickly digested and circulated throughout the body. The results of statistical tests showed that there was a significant difference (p0.05) between age and sex on blood sugar levels of domestic dogs. Based on the research concluded that the average sugar content of domestic dogs in the Bukittinggi City is still in the normal range. Keywords: Blood sugar, carbohydrates, domestication, easy touch GCU

Abstract

Exposure to heat conditions is one of the causes of heat stress for broilers. This research was conducted to determine the effect of administering jaloh extract (Salix tetrasperma Roxb) in drinking water to broiler chickens with heat stress condition on fat levels and muscle water content (intramuscular). This research was conducted using a completely randomized design with a sample of 15 broiler chickens strain MB 90 aged 21 days which placed in individual cages and a temperature of 34 ± 1ºC was set for  4 hours/day for 7 consecutive days. The treatment groups were as follows: P0 as control group without jaloh extract; P1 was given jaloh extract at a dose of 50 mg/l; P2 was given jaloh extract at a dose of 100 mg/l in drinking water. Each treatment group consisted of 5 replications. The data were analyzed using ANOVA test, and then continued with the Duncan test. The results showed that jaloh extract at a dose of 100 mg/l in drinking water could increase the fat content of meat up to 16.63% and could reduce the water content to 44.52%. It could be concluded that the administration of jaloh extract at a dose of 100 mg/l in drinking water could increase fat levels and reduce intramuscular muscle water content in broiler chickens with heat stress condition

Abstract

The research has been conducted to determine the effect of 3% acetic acid, 3% citric acid, and combination of acetic acid and citric acid, 1.5% each on protein content of broiler carcass. The experiment was designed by a factorial analysis of variance (Anova). The first factor is control without any treatment (P0), carcass immersion in 3% acetic acid solution (P1), carcass immersion in 3% citric acid (P2), and carcass immersion in combination of acetic acid solution and citric acid, 1.5% each (P3). The second factor was the time after immersion contain of 3 levels: 0 hours (W1), 4 hours (W2), and 8 hours (W3). Data were analyzed statistically by analysis of variance. Broiler carcass immersed in acetic acid and citric acid solution as well as the time of application showed no difference effect on protein content (P0.05). In conclusioin, acetic acid, citric acid, and the time after dipping reaching 8 hours did not affect the protein content of broiler meat. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Key words: broiler carcass , citric acid 3%, acetic acid 3%, protein content
