Abstract

Background: Tutorial discussion is one method of Problem Based Learning (PBL), this method divided students into small groups and then given a mdical case as a trigger to search further information, and they discuss knowledge and information that accompanied by a tutor. The success of the tutorial discussion process may affect the achievement of learning objectives block. The aim of the research is to determine differences in the achievement of learning objectives Immunology block scenarios before and after tutorial discussion. Methods: This research was a longitudinal observational analytic. The data were collected by using simple random sampling with 47 sampels of students batch 2013 and had been assessed at Medical Faculty of Sebelas Maret University. The learning objectives of this comparation study measured by pretest and posttest questions that have been tested validation by experts. The study was conducted using quantitative method and the results were analyzed by using Paired t-test. Results: The average value of pretest-posttest before and after tutorial discussion is 28.51-60.85 for the first scenario, 22.34-62.55 for the second scenario, and 16.81-65.32 for the third scenario. Paired t-test results showed significant differences with p <0.05 (p=0.000) for the value of pretest-posttest three scenarios. Conclusions: The achievement of learning objectives scenario in immunology block before and after tutorial discussion is significant. Abstract

Background : Indonesia is currently faced by dual nutrition problems , which prevalence of obesity had increased. Obesity is often associated with aspects of oral health. Oral hygiene is important to be maintained because it can affect the overall health of the body so as to be one indicator of a person's general health. Behavioral factors play an important role in influencing the status of oral hygiene habits such as eating sugary or high - carbohydrate food. This study aimed to determine the relationship between obesity and a score oral hygiene index simplified in adolescents aged 16-18 years in SMAN 1 Surakarta by controlling confounding factors in brushing teeth habit, salivary pH and composition of dental students. Methods: This study was an observational analytical research using cross sectional approach. Sampling technique was used purposive sampling which the sample size was 30 students age 16-18 years old in SMAN 1 Surakarta taken in November 2015. Data z-score was obtained through the measurement of height and weight, whereas oral hygiene status was measured by the score of oral hygiene index simplified. Data analysis technique was Kolmogorv-Smirnov test and test correlation using contingency coefficient test. Data were processed by SPSS 20.00 for Windows. Results: This results showed there was a significant relationship between obesity with a score of oral hygiene index simplified in adolescents aged 16-18 years in SMAN 1 Surakarta (p = 0,003). The contingency coefficient test showed there was a strong uphill linear relationship between obesity with OHIS score (r = 0,619) Conclusion: This study concluded that there was a relationship between obesity with a score of oral hygiene index simplified in adolescents aged 16-18 years in SMAN 1 Surakarta. Abstract

Background: Stroke can cause brain damage that ends up as a serious long-term disability. Some previous research mentioned that albumin as a neuroprotector in ischemic stroke. Albumin can improve ischemic stroke prognosis by anti-edema effects, hemodilution effects, and antioxidants effects. Methods: This study is an analytical observational research with a cross sectional approach. The amount of sample in this study is 32 ischemic stroke patients at Dr. Moewardi Hospital, Surakarta were selected by simple random sampling. The sample were selected according to both inclusive and exclusive criteria that determined by the researcher. The dependent variable in this study is ischemic stroke prognosis, the independent variable is serum albumin level, and confounding variable are age, stroke severity degree, premorbid conditions, and post-stroke complications. Researcher gives the explanation and helps the patients to fill (1) Biodata form and informed consent, (2) Serum albumin level, ages, stroke severity degree, premorbid conditions, and post-stroke complications, and (3) Barthel Index. The collective data were analyzed using the Spearman Test and then processed with odds ratio calculation. Then, confounding variable was calculated with binary logistic regression analysis. Result: Using Spearman Test obtained value (p) = 0,04 and a correlation coefficient of serum albumin level and ischemic stroke prognosis was 0.313. Based on the calculation, the value of odds ratio is 4.000 with Confidence of Interval is 0,828 19,325 (RO = 4,000, CI = 0,828 19,325). The result of binary logistic regression analysis was known that influential variable in ischemic stroke prognosis is stroke severity degree (RO = 36,000) and post-stroke complication (RO = 3.441.206.744). With constant at 23,463, obtained the equation: . Conclusion: There is a statistically significant relationship between serum albumin level with ischemic stroke prognosis at Dr. Moewardi Hospital, Surakarta. Patient with low level serum albumin has 4 times greater suffered worse ischemic stroke prognosis than patients with normal serum albumin level. Keywords: Albumin, stroke ischemic prognosis

Abstract

Highlights:1. This study emphasizes the significance of understanding professional football players' various somatotype structures and body fat compositions as an important contribution to the area of sports science. This study lays the groundwork for future research to better understand the intricate interactions between somatotype structures, body composition, and athletic performance.2. Since a one-size-fits-all approach may not be successful, this study advocates for tailored evaluations of training regimens to cater to athletes' unique requirements and skills, which may lead to higher overall performance.   Abstract This study investigated the effects of somatotype structures and body fat composition on professional football athletes' aerobic capacities and running speed. This study used an analytical observational design with a cross-sectional approach. The subjects comprised 27 professional football athletes from Bhayangkara Football Club, located in Bekasi, Indonesia. This study measured several variables, i.e., players' age, playing position, somatotype structures assessed using the Somatotype Rating Form and Heath-Carter Somatochart, body fat composition measured using Brozek and Siri formulas, aerobic capacities determined by the maximum rate of oxygen (VO2 max) through the Yo-Yo Intermittent Recovery Test Level 2, and running speed over a 30 m distance. The data were presented as mean ± standard deviation (SD), frequency (n), and percentage. The Shapiro-Wilk was used to determine the normality of the data distribution. The statistical analyses were conducted using one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) followed by the post-hoc least significant difference (LSD) test, the Kruskal-Wallis test followed by the post-hoc Mann-Whitney test, as well as the independent t-test, the Mann-Whitney test, and Pearson's or Spearman's correlation tests. A value of p<0.05 was considered statistically significant. The athletes exhibited a predominant somatotype structure of mesomorph-endomorph (88.9%). Notable associations were found between mesomorphy rating and running speed (r=-0.548; p=0.003), body fat composition and aerobic capacity (r=-0.448; p=0.019), as well as age and aerobic capacity (r=-0.515; p=0.006). Notably, differences in aerobic capacity were observed among various age groups (p=0.031). There were also differences in body fat composition (p=0.003) and running speed (p=0.036) between two distinct somatotype structures. These findings underscore the importance of considering individualized training and conditioning programs that account for athletes' unique body compositions and ages.
