Abstract

This study aims to improve the  listening skill of the second semester students Prodi English Education of FKIP UMSU by applying note making skills, and determine the extent of the increase in students learning outcomes in subjects Listening II after appliying Note making Skill. This research was conducted by using the method of Class Action Research (Class Action Research), and the result were analyzed by using descriptive quantitative and qualitative method to explain the observation of activities. The subjects were the students of the second semester, the class IIC-2, Prodi FKIP UMSU English Education, Academic year 2014/2015, totaling 33 people. The result showed that: (1) The  abilty  of students to record verbal  information needed appropriately increase. This is eviden from the increase in value of the average students 58.64 in pre-test I cycle I, being 74.70 in the post-test II, the second cycle with standart KKM = 70 (2) the result of the students’ learning showed a significant increase, which gained  100 % completeness study fulfilled within two cycles.  This improvement can also be seen from was the increase in the percentage mastery learning from 30.30% in pre test I cycle I, being 60,61% in post test I cycle II, and 100% in post test II cycle II with the standart learning completeness = 80% students passed.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui kesalahan penganalisaan (error analysis) dalam pemakaian article (kata sandang) défini dan indéfini pada mahasiswa semester VI bahasa Inggris FKIP UMSU dalam mata kuliah pilihan bahasa Perancis. Jenis article yang paling dominan salah dianalisa oleh mahasiswa. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan cara pemberian tes sebanyak dua kali, yang masing-masing berisi 20 item tes dengan 4 opsi pada tiap nomornya. Tes terdiri dari article défine dan indéfini dalam bahasa Perancis. Guna dari tes ini adalah untuk mengetahui jenis  kesalahan (error) yang paling sering dilakukan mahasiswa dari kedua jenis kesalahan (error analysis) tersebut,  dan tes yang terakhir  berisi tentang jenis-jenis article yang digunakan untuk mengetahui jenis article yang dominan salah dianalisis oleh mahasiswa. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa défini menempati error salah tertinggi yakni 10,1%, dan indéfini 8,1%,. Adapun jenis article yang paling dominan salah adalah article défine.

Abstract

There are numerous sorts utterance in drama, one of the sort is soliloquy. Soliloquy is a speech uttered by a character that aims to express feelings or expressions, even messages from a story, in a way that no one knows what he said except the reader or audience. This research were focused on analyzing soliloquy in the novel Crime and Punishment by Fyodor Dostoevsky. The purposes of this research were to find the soliloquy in the novel Crime and Punishment, also, to describe the causes of soliloquy were used in the novel Crime and Punishment by Fyodor Dostoevsky. The researcher applied a descriptive qualitative method. The data was acquired from the novel Crime and Punishment by Fyodor Dostoevsky. The researcher used some theories in research method. Based on the analysis of soliloquy in the novel Crime and Punishment. there were 47 soliloquy that found in the novel Crime and Punishment. The type of soliloquy that found in the novel Crime and Punishment is plain soliloquy. Besides, there two causes that soliloquy were used in the novel Crime and Punishment by Fyodor Dostoevsky, to wit, the reason of the genre, and the reason of the expression feelings. In spite of, a lot of factors that can be the reason of soliloquy were used in the novel, researcher found the strong reason to fyodor to used the soliloquy frequently.

Abstract

Tujuan kegiatan ini untuk memberika edukasi dalam penyuluhan agar peserta didik secara khusus mengetahui jenis, bahaya dan pencegahan tindakan perundungan di Sekolah Dasar Desa Pantai Gemi, Langkat. Kegiatan ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dalam pelaksanaan Kuliah Kerja Nyata (KKN) Mandiri di Sekolah Dasar Desa Pantai Gemi. Metode yang digunakan edukasi dalam penyuluhan ini adalah (1) ceramah dan (2) diskusi Hasil penyuluhan memperlihatkan bahwa adanya kesadaran peserta didik bahwa perundungan dapat hadir dalam berbagai macam-macam dan mengetahui bahwa tindakan yang mereka lakukan ternyata termasuk tindakan perundungan yang berakibat negatif bagi anak lain sehingga tidak mengulanginya kembali.

Abstract

This research discusses and raises the theme of studying the language model of male and female students in a sociolinguistic study. Language plays an important role in interaction and communication. Both male and female speakers have their speaking skills, especially on important matters. This research was conducted with a descriptive qualitative approach. In the steps to analyze the data, researchers used several stages such as data selection, data grouping, and concluding the data being analyzed. The language and conversation models between male and female students have fundamental differences. According to observations, female students seem more verbal than male students. Furthermore, the language of male students is more confrontational, informative, to the point, giving advice, sarcastic, and joking. Meanwhile, the language of female students is more supportive, giving and seeking understanding, using personal feelings, caring, togetherness, and being serious.

Abstract

This study aimed at analysing the conflict and the process of how the conflict contained in the novel by John Green entitled The Fault in Our Stars. In this study descriptive qualitative research was applied. In order to discover the answer, the writer tried to find out the main character’s internal conflicts described in the novel of The Fault in Our Stars written by John Green, the main character’s external conflict described in the novel of The Fault in Our Stars, and the dominant type of the main character in The Fault in Our Stars novel. The results were man vs self 53 (36.30%), man vs man 49 (33.56%), man vs nature 27 (18.49%), man vs society 17 (11.64%), and the dominant one was man vs self 53 (36.30%).

Abstract

Emotional Intelligence of Student Organizational Members at the Faculty of Counseling Guidance Study Program. Throughout The Span Of Life Lived, From Birth To Death, Humans Need Other People. Various Kinds Of Ways In The Process Of Interaction Will Be Found Throughout Human Life. One Individual To Another, One Environment To Another Will Have A Different Way Of Interacting. Students' Social Skills Tend To Decrease Because They Only Communicate With A Few Friends. Some Students Feel Bored, Tired, Stressed, Scared And Relaxed Which Causes Them To Experience Difficulties In Completing Coursework, Difficulty Focusing When Paying Attention To Lecturers Teaching, Decreased Motivation In Doing Coursework. Universities Have An Academic Responsibility To Prepare Students To Face The Realities Of A Productive And Valuable Life. The Learning Process In Tertiary Institutions Is An Important Journey That Students Need To Go Through. The Research Design Used In This Research Is Qualitative Research. The Qualitative Research Design Was Chosen Because It Is Natural And Presented As It Is Without Elements Of Manipulation Or Special Treatment Of The Research Object. Emotional Intelligence Is A Strong Impulse That Directs Humans To Do Something. Each Emotion Can Direct A Different Action. Humans Have Two Sources Of Thinking, Namely Emotion And Reason. Emotions Take Action On Impulses Before Reason Has A Chance To Take Control Of The Situation.
