Abstract

AbstrakPenelitian ini berjudul “Pengaruh Model Pembelajaran Collaborative Writing terhadap Kemampuan Menulis Mahasiswa pada Mata Kuliah Creative Writing.” Penelitian ini menggunakan metode Quasy Experiment dengan rancangan Nonequivalent Control Group Design. Jenis design penelitian ini didasarkan pada sampel penelitian (mahasiswa) yang sudah terbentuk secara alamiah (naturally formed intact group). Teknik sampling yang diterapkan dalam penentuan kelompok experimen dan kontrol adalah random sampling. Instrumen penelitian ini berupa tes, digunakan untuk memperoleh data, yakni berupa hasil belajar mahasiswa dalam menulis. Kevalidan instrumen akan diukur melalui uji validitas. Selanjutnya, data tersebut akan dianalisis melalui uji t.Hasil analisis data diperoleh nilai thitung adalah 2,5. Sementara itu, nilai ttabel dengan tingkat kebebasan df = N1+N2-2 = 24+24-2 = 46 dan taraf signifikan 5% adalah sebesar 2,02. Dari perhitungan di atas dapat dilihat bahwa thitung lebih besar dari pada ttabel yakni 4,9 > 2,02. Dengan demikian dapat disimpulkan bahwa H0 ditolak dan Ha diterima. Dengan kata lain, ada pengaruh signifikan model pembelajaran Collaborative Writing terhadap kemampuan menulis mahasiswa pada mata kuliah Creative Writing. Keywords: Kemampuan Menulis, Collaborative Writing, Creative Writing

Abstract

The purpose of this study are (1) to know an influence on the development of Adobe-Flash multimedia programs on the ability of students to improve vocabulary skills in English For Tourism courses. (2) to find the percentage of the influence of the development of multimedia programs on the ability of students to improve vocabulary skills in English For Tourism courses. This research is an experimental research. The program implementation technique for this research is a preliminary test used to measure students' vocabulary abilities of the material being taught while the final test is carried out to determine student learning outcomes after being treated using Multimedia-based Object- Oriented Programming (Adobe- Flash) learning methods in the eyes English for Tourism lecture.

Abstract

The aim of the research are (1) to know an influence on the development of Adobe-Flash multimedia programs on the ability of students to improve vocabulary skills in English. Abstract

ABSTRAKPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan kemampuan mahasiswa dalam hal keterampilan berbicara dengan menggunakan Strategi Quantum Learning. Dari hasil penelitian dapat dilihat dari 72 orang siswa, dalam mendeskripsikan hasil penelitian ini, peneliti membagi dalam 3 tahap yaitu: Deskripsi hasil perhitungan kemampuan berbicara mahasiswa fakultas keguruan dan ilmu pendidikan jurusan bahasa Inggris tanpa strategi Quantum Learning. Deskripsi hasil perhitungan kemampuan berbicara mahasiswa fakultas keguruan dan ilmu  pendidikan  jurusan bahasa Inggris dengan menggunakan strategi Quantum Learning. Deskripsi hasil hubungan antara pengaruh penggunaan strategi Quantum Learning terhadap kemampuan berbicara mahasiswa FKIP jurusan bahasa Inggris.Kata Kunci: Pengaruh, Pembelajaran, Strategi, Prestasi, Berbicara, Quantum

Abstract

This study deals with the analysis of Denotative and Connotative meaning on the Jakarta Post article. The objectives of the study was to find out the types of meaning used in Jakarta Post Article, to find out the types of the dominant meaning used on Jakarta post article and to explain the meaning of the most dominant types used on Jakarta Post article.This study was conducted by applying descriptive qualitative method. The data were taken from Jakarta Post Article, which published from October 2017, November 2017, and December 2017. The finding showed that total of Denotative meaning is 88 (63,3%) and total of Connotative meaning is 51 (36,6%) that is found from 6 articles. Its hope that the result of this study will be useful to everyone who wants to study meaning Jakarta Post Article.Keywords: Denotative Meaning, Connotative Meaning, Descriptive Qualitative Design.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the effect of Mind Mapping Learning Model on students' ability in writing in Public Speaking courses. The subjects of the study were all three semester students of English education which amounted to four classes of 60 students. This research uses questionnaires data which is distributed to 60 English Semester Three Students at UMSU. The data analysis used is descriptive analysis which include mean, median, standard error and standard deviation, and t test to know the influence of Mind Mapping Learning Model to students ability in writing in Public Speaking course. Abstract

The objectives of this research were to identify the types of grammatical and lexical cohesive devices used in The Lion King Movie Script, to describe the grammatical and lexical cohesion devices used in The Lion King Movie Script and to investigate the grammatical and lexical cohesion devices used in The Lion King Movie Script. The researcher used descriptive qualitative method to obtain the objectives of the research. The data of this research was grammatical and lexical cohesion while the data source of this research was script of “The Lion King Movie”. The results in this research were found 312 ties of grammatical cohesive devices and 196 lexical cohesive devices used in the script. The realization of cohesive devices used in The Lion King Movie script was semantic concept between lexical and grammatical cohesion devices, this referred to the relationship meaning that exists within or outside the text. The most types of grammatical cohesion used were personal reference and demonstrative reference because they used to refer something which was mentioned elsewhere in the script. Meanwhile, clausal substitution as only type of grammatical cohesion didn’t occur in the whole scene. The most types of lexical used were repetition because they used to rewrite an item in preceding element with the same form to following element. Finally, the findings showed almost all types of lexical and grammatical cohesion contained reference, substitution, ellipsis, conjunction, repetition, synonymy, antonymy, hyponymy, meronymy, and collocation contained in The Lion King Movie script.

Abstract

This research was aim to analysis how is student’s perception on the use of english online learning platforms in tanjungbalai and to know does Quipper helps the students in english online learning in the Covid-19 Pandemic. In this research technique of collecting data researcher used observation and interview method. The source of data in this reseach is students in Senior Highschool 1 Tanjungbalai was focused on eleventh grade with gave 15 questions to interview the students using WhatsApp. The researcher instrument of this studey is researcher self. This study was applied qualitative design. The technique of analyzing data researcher used three steps, there are 1) Data Reduction, 2) Data display, and then 3) conclusion/verifocation. The findings from the data analysis, the student’s give negative perception on English online learning because not easier, but english online learning give positive impact such as: be independent attitude, and add the motivation to them. In using Quipper in English online learning the students give perception because the explanation in Quipper is video form so the students enjoy and understand, but they help problems in internet quota and network in using Quipper so the students sometimes difficult in using Quipper.

Abstract

The Objective of study is to find  the result of the learning process of Adobe Flash as media on the course of Pengembangan Media Pembelajaran through E-Learning system at English education study program in University of Muhammadiyah Sumatera Utara. E-learning provides a set of tools to enrich the value of conventional learning model, studies of textbooks, CD-ROMs, and computer-based training. Students can answer the challenges of globalization. Research Method used descriptive method through qualitative approach. Method of research conducted qualitative. Sample of research were forth semester students of English education study program. E learning system of UMSU provided schedule of course, attendance check, discussion forum between a lecture and students, task file, exercises file integrated Moodle and google form, module e book of Pengembangan Media Pembelajaran, slide file presentation, all activities viewed past, present and future time. Adobe flash media learning English implemented by virtual for one semester. The students can be active teaching English using Adobe Flash, simple material for presentation. They were enthusiastic when learn Adobe flash as media leaning English.
