Abstract

The purpose of this study are (1) to know an influence on the development of Adobe-Flash multimedia programs on the ability of students to improve vocabulary skills in English For Tourism courses. (2) to find the percentage of the influence of the development of multimedia programs on the ability of students to improve vocabulary skills in English For Tourism courses. This research is an experimental research. The program implementation technique for this research is a preliminary test used to measure students' vocabulary abilities of the material being taught while the final test is carried out to determine student learning outcomes after being treated using Multimedia-based Object- Oriented Programming (Adobe- Flash) learning methods in the eyes English for Tourism lecture.

Abstract

This research was about parents way in teaching politeness in their environment. The objectives of this research were (1) to examine parents’ perception about teaching language politeness to their children in a family environment;(2) to describe what patterns are implemented by parents in teaching language politeness to the children;(3) to find out the forms of language politeness taught to the children and  (4) to describe the obstacles encountered by parents when they taught their children language politeness.Descriptive qualitative design was used  in this research. The data were obtained   by doing the interview and observation to the objects of research. The result revealed that all parents agreed about teaching language politeness to their children in a familay environment based on some reasons.First, famliy is the first place for children to learn about politeness. Second, teaching language politeness to children is one way to maintain our culture and third, teaching language politeness to the children can make them far from the dispute. Teaching language politeness to the children must be done  through refraction, instruction, control, and modelling.

Abstract

Abstrak Kegiatan PKM yang dilaksanakan berupa pelatihan trunamen scrabble melalui materi Vocab ( Kosa Kata Bahasa Inggris ) bagi ibu-ibu PKK di Kecamatan Binjai Utara Kabupaten Binjai Propinsi Sumatera Utara. Kegiatan ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan wawasan pemahaman pengetahuan ibu-ibu PKK, khusunya di Kecamatan Binjai Utara dua kelurahan yaitu jati utomo dan damai. Kemudian melakukan pendampingan terhadap ibu-ibu PKK untuk mengimplementasikan vocab dilakukan dengan media scrabble. Pada tahap terakhir kegiatan ini berupa evaluasi terhadap pemberian hasil penerimaan vocab ibu-ibu PKK dalam trunamen yang dilakukan dalam pelatihan. Hasil kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat bagi dua mitra kelurahan jati utomo dan kelurahan damai berupa peningkatan wawasan pemahaman pengetahuan  dan pengalaman para ibu-ibu PKK  terkait konsep  vocab dan praktek trunamen media scrabble yang selanjutnya dapat diimplementasikan di setiap kelurahan yang berada dikecamatan bunjai utara.  pembelajaran. Abstract

Tim pelaksana program kemitraan masyarakat internal UMSU  menjalin kemitraan dalam pendampingan mendesain proposal kegiatan acara kepada anggota lembaga forum komunikasi antar lembaga adat  (FORKALA)  kota Medan sebagai mitra PKM UMSU.  Proposal merupakan suatu rancangan yang  berbentuk tulisan secara sistematis dan terperinci untuk kegiatan acara yang akan diselenggarakan. Tujuan dari pembuatan proposal kegiatan dalam sebuah acara adalah  guna  mendapatkan persetujuan dari pihak yang berkepentingan terhadap penyelenggaraan acara untuk dapat  diajak bekerjasama dalam melancarkan kegiatan. Proposal kegiatan acara dirancang  apabila ingin mengajukan suatu permohonan seperti permohonan dana atau sponsor saat hendak menyelenggarakan suatu kegiatan.  Pendampingan terhadap mitra PKM UMSU diberikan agar   staf dan anggota forum komunikasi antar lembaga adat kota Medan mendapatkan tambahan pengetahuan berkenaan dengan desain proposal yang baik.  Bagian  penting dalam membuat proposal kegiatan acara yakni membuat rancangan proposal kegiatan dengan  desain  yang menarik sesuai pedoman umum ejaan bahasa indonesia. Berdasarkan serangkaian kegiatan yang telah dilaksanakan, hasil kegiatan  telah memberikan solusi permasalahan terhadap anggota Forkala kota Medan   antara lain adalah : 1. membuat contoh proposal kegiatan lembaga  2. desain proposal kegiatan  3. buku panduan penggugunaan bahasa indonesia sesuai pedoman umum ejaan bahasa indonesia. Hasil ini diharapkan  dapat dikembangkan bagi lembaga adat yang ada di bawah naungan forum komunikasi antar lembaga adat kota Medan.  Tema dan konsep yang diangkat melalui proposal kegiatan yang menarik dapat memperlihatkan  secara nyata kegiatan – kegiatan yang diselenggarakan,   sesuai visi dan tujuan Forkala.

Abstract

Tak jarang bahwa kita menemukan selama masa pandemic ini guru-guru masih melakukan pembelajaran dengan metode konvensional yaitu memberikan tugas atau sekedar memberikan materi ajar saja sehingga bisa dipastikan siswa akan mengalami kejenuhan mengikuti kegiatan pembelajaran dalam jaringan (daring). Salah satu manfaat penting dari video pembelajaran di masa pandemic ini adalah mampu meningkatkan minat siswa dalam belajar. Dimana mereka dapat mendengar, serta melihat gambar. Melalui video pembelajaran siswa dapat belajar layaknya sedang belajar tatap muka di dalam kelas. Guru-guru diharapkan dapat menciptakan video-video pembelajaran yang inovatif, kreatif, efektif dan efisien. Namun masalah yang muncul adalah 1). Kemampuan guru yang masih rendah dalam menciptakan media pembelajaran khususnya video pembelajaran. 2). Banyaknya software gratis untuk membuat video namun mereka belum tahu langkah-langkah mengaplikasikannya 3) Video pembelajaran yang ada terkesan membosankan khususnya bagi para visual kinestetik learner. Program Kemitraan Masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk 1). memberikan pendampingan bagi para guru dalam membuat video pembelajaran yang inovatif, kreatif, efektif dan efisien, 2). Meningkatkan profesionalisme guru dalam menciptakan media pembelajaran, khususnya video pembelajaran. Target capaian dari kegiatan Program Kemitraan Masyarakat ini adalah publikasi pada jurnal nasional ber-ISSN/prosiding pada seminar nasional, publikasi pada metia cetak/online. Kata Kunci : Guru, Video Pembelajaran, Visual Kinesthetic Learner,

Abstract

The Use Of The Duolingo Guessing Game Application In Teaching Speaking Ability Toward 8th - Students. This study was aimed to analyze how students use the game application named Duolingo, as an English learning application, to evaluate its benefit to help students in learning English and to assess students' skills in speaking. The data for this research was collected by using post and pre-test methods in research techniques. The data source was students from SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Medan, focused on 8th grade by providing multiple-choice questions by using Duolingo Applications. The quantitative design was used in this study and the techniques for data analysis include (1) data collection procedures, (2) data analysis techniques, and (3) conclusions. Based on analysis findings, students provided improvements to English learning and they speak more smoothly with a better tone. However, learning English has a number of advantages, and since Duolingo is a form of multiple choice test so the students enjoy, and it help the problem of speaking and use repetition of words so the students can follow how to say or speak.

Abstract

An Analysis Of Illocutionary Act On Song Lyrics Of Bruno Mars’s Doo-Woops & Hooligans Album. Illocutionary act is an act performed in saying something. Illocutionary acts is an utterance with some kind of function in mind. As a part of written language, literary works such as play, novel, film, short story, and song can also be analyzed by using illocutionary act theoryThe study discussed about the use of Illocutionary Act to determine the lyric of the song’s meaning. The objectives of this study were to : (1) To describe the types of illocutionary speech acts are contained on song lyrics Doo-Woops & Holligans Album. And (2) To find out the functions of the illocutionary act found in the song lyrics Doo-Woops & Holligans Album. This study applied a descriptive qualitative method to analyze the data. The source of the data was obtained from Bruno Mars’s Doo-Woops & Holligans Album. The data was taken the lyrics of 10 songs from Bruno Mars’s Doo-Woops & Holligans Album to find the types and functions of Illocutionary Act . The technique in analyzing the data was using the theory of Miles & Huberman, that is data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing and verfication. There were then found out the song lyrics of Doo-Wops & Hooligans Album by Bruno Mars use most of representative illocutionary acts and the song lyrics of Doo- Wops & Hooligans Album by Bruno Mars use most of collaborative illocutionary acts’s function.

Abstract

This study deals with onomatopoeia in Doctor Dolittle novel by Hugh Lofting. The objectives of the study were to analyze the types of onomatopoeia that used in the Doctor Dolittle novel by Hugh Lofting, to analyze why onomatopoeia used in Doctor Dolittle novel by Hugh Lofting, and to investigate how the author describe the onomatopoeia word in his novel. The scope and limitation were focused about onomatopoeia words found in the Doctor Dolittle novel by Hugh Lofting. The researchers analyzed three types of onomatopoeia, there are Direct Onomatopoeia, Associative Onomatopoeia, and Exemplary Onomatopoeia. This study applied a descriptive qualitative method. The source of data  was taken from the Doctor Dolittle novel. The technique of data analyzing used data presentation, data verification and, data reduction. The research finding showed that there were 38 of onomatopoeia found in this research which consist of 7 words direct onomatopoeia,24 words assiciative onomatopoeia, and 7 exemplary onomatopoeia based on Bredin's (1996 : 558). Associative Onomatopoeia was the dominant types of Doctor Dolittle novel by Hugh Lofting.

Abstract

Penelitian ini menginvestigasi berbagai kasus perkembangan motorik pada individu dengan kondisi kesehatan yang berbeda, yaitu Alena, Zaki Nur Riski, Wildan, dan Hamdan Azmi. Studi ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan menganalisis riwayat perkembangan motorik, gejala, dan faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi dari masing-masing subjek. Alena mengalami keterlambatan dalam berjalan yang diduga terkait dengan dispraksia, sementara Zaki Nur Riski menunjukkan tanda-tanda Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) yang mempengaruhi interaksi sosial dan komunikasi. Wildan menghadapi tantangan motorik sejak usia dini, kemungkinan terkait dengan kondisi otot seperti distrofi otot, dan Hamdan Azmi mengalami Childhood Disintegrative Disorder (CDD) yang mengakibatkan penurunan signifikan dalam kemampuan adaptasi dan komunikasi. Data dikumpulkan melalui observasi langsung, wawancara dengan keluarga, serta studi dokumen untuk memahami perkembangan motorik dan faktor-faktor yang mungkin mempengaruhi setiap kasus. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan perlunya intervensi terapeutik yang tepat sesuai dengan kondisi masing-masing individu untuk meningkatkan kualitas hidup dan kemampuan fungsional mereka. Saran untuk penelitian lanjutan termasuk memperluas sampel dan fokus pada intervensi yang lebih terinci untuk memahami lebih baik cara-cara optimal dalam mengatasi masalah perkembangan motorik ini.

Abstract

Students must be able to achieve the objectives of their learning. If students have not achieved the learning objectives, then an action must be taken to achieve the learning objectives. Furthermore, this is reflected in the results of improving students' abilities in their learning. This research is in the form of classroom action research (CAR), which is carried out to improve students' abilities in learning rights and obligations in PPKN learning using the Project-Based Learning (PJBL) learning model. The implementation of this PJBL model can change and improve students' learning abilities. The method used in this classroom action research is the Kemmis and Mc.Ditagrat models, each cycle consists of four stages, namely planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The design of this research began with observations in class IV at SDN 066055 Medan Denai. Students in the pre-cycle reached 25% for the achievement of cycle I reaching 50%, and cycle II completion reaching 87%.
