Abstract

AbstractThis paper proposes moving horizon estimation (MHE) to estimate the state variables of autonomous vehicle linear systems under measurement noises. To solve the MHE optimization problem, quadratic programming is employed. The steering angle, yaw angle, and global position constraints of an autonomous vehicle are considered in the estimation design. According to the simulation results, it can be observed that although the longer MHE step can give better results compared to the shorter MHE step, the difference in the MHE step only slightly affects the estimated results. However, the longer MHE step can increase the computational time. Additionally, the proposed MHE scheme is compared to the Kalman filter (KF) estimator. Based on the obtained results, the KF gives a better estimation than the MHE, but this notion must be verified for other case studies. Keywords: autonomous vehicle; Kalman filter; linear system; MHE; quadratic programming. 2020MSC: 62P35, 65D19

Abstract

PD Utama Jaya Plasindo, a company specializing in plastic pellet processing, faces several production challenges, such as fluctuating demand, raw material shortages, machinery downtime, and labor management. To address these issues and improve production planning, the company uses MATLAB's linprog tool, which is designed for Linear Programming (LP) and aims to maximize profits. The company's profit is calculated using the formula: Profit = 37A + 46B + 38C + 46D. This calculation takes into account seven constraints related to raw materials, machinery usage, labor hours, and product demand. With this method, PD Utama Jaya Plasindo earns a daily profit of Rp. 837,600 from its plastic buckle products, totaling Rp. 16,752,000 over 20 working days in a month. These profit figures, based on clear objectives and constraints, help ensure that production goals are met and facilitate the monitoring and optimization of production capacity. By leveraging MATLAB's linprog, the company can better manage demand fluctuations and optimize the use of raw materials, machinery, and labor.

Abstract

This community service activity aims to help first-semester Electrical Engineering students improve their understanding of basic programming concepts using Turbo Pascal, with a focus on displaying text, symbols, and ASCII-based images. The approach combines both theoretical instruction and hands-on practice. Students receive materials covering the use of the Write and Writeln functions in Turbo Pascal, as well as techniques for creating simple text-based images using ASCII characters. The results show that most students have successfully grasped the material, created basic programs, and actively participated in the training sessions. This activity is designed to strengthen the programming foundation of Electrical Engineering students, providing a solid base for further development of their programming skills.

Abstract

Solving electrical circuits often requires finding solutions to systems of linear equations, which are derived from fundamental laws like The laws of Kirchhoff and Ohm's law. In this study, two widely known numerical methods are used to solve these systems, Gaussian elimination and matrix inversion. Both methods are applied to the linear equations that represent the electrical circuit network. MATLAB is used to model and solve the circuits with these techniques, making the calculations more efficient and accurate. By employing both methods, we can solve systems of equations for various circuit configurations, determining the voltage and current values for each component. The results demonstrate that both methods are reliable and fast, providing valuable insights for electrical engineering and circuit analysis.

Abstract

The research presents an examination of Ohm’s Law in practice through the development of a simple MATLAB-based program named OHM1.m. The program is designed to calculate the electric voltage based on the current and resistance values entered by the user. The program structure consists of a few concise lines of code, including screen clearing, variable initialization, input retrieval, voltage calculation using the equation V = I x R, and formatted result presentation. The analysis shows that the program has several advantages, such as simplicity, interactivity, organized output, and strong relevance to education. Nevertheless, some limitations exist, including the absence of input validation, lack of batch data support, and the unavailability of graphical visualization. Potential enhancements include adding input validation, integrating V–I plotting, supporting vector input, and developing a graphical user interface (GUI). The program execution results are consistent with Ohm’s Law theory, making it an effective learning tool for both Electrical Engineering and Informatics students. Therefore, this program can serve as a foundation before progressing to more complex circuit simulations.

Abstract

The Field Work Practice (PKN) carried out at PT MK Prima Indonesia focused on the implementation of periodic maintenance practices for the premoulding hydraulic press machine as an effort to maintain machine performance and operational lifespan. The main activities included identifying critical components such as the hydraulic system, valves, pressure hoses, and oil filters; conducting direct observation of common disruptions; and performing daily maintenance checklists that covered pressure monitoring, operating temperature, leakage detection, machine cleanliness, and lubrication conditions. Comprehensive cleaning procedures, condition-based filter replacement, and functional testing were also conducted to ensure reliability and safety in the production process. The implementation methods involved participatory observation, interviews with technicians regarding common failure patterns, visual and functional inspections, as well as the use of structured checklists supported by inspection documentation. The results indicate a significant decrease in the frequency of disturbances caused by leaks and oil contamination, improved compliance with routine inspection procedures, and enhanced machine readiness during operations. The introduction of structured documentation and simple technical training further improved technicians’ ability to detect early signs of abnormalities in the hydraulic system. As a recommendation, the company is advised to strengthen the use of digital recording systems, adjust filter replacement intervals based on actual machine conditions, and implement regular training programs focusing on contamination control and predictive maintenance.

Abstract

Motorcycle theft remains a widespread issue that demands improved security solutions supported by modern technology. This research discusses the development and implementation of a motorcycle security system design using an ESP8266 microcontroller integrated incorporating the GPS Neo-7M positioning module, SW-420 vibration detection sensor, and an electronically controlled solenoid lock. The implemented mechanism is monitored and controlled via the Telegram application, allowing the owner to receive real-time updates about the motorcycle’s status through a Telegram Bot. The development process involves hardware integration, ESP8266 programming, and functional testing. The SW-420 sensor detects vibrations as indicators of possible theft, triggering a buzzer alarm and sending instant notifications through Telegram. The GPS Neo-7M module provides location data in real time, automatically or upon user request, through a Google Maps link. Users can also lock or unlock the motorcycle remotely by sending the lock or /unlock commands via Telegram. Test results show that the system responds to vibrations in less than one second, delivers Telegram notifications within 3–5 seconds, and determines location with an accuracy of 3–10 meters. Overall, the proposed system offers an effective, practical, and low-cost solution to enhance motorcycle security.
