Abstract

Abstract The purpose of this study was to reveal the effect of teaching strategy (organized content: using review and epitome versus conventional text book) toward student’s achievement in reading mechanical engineering drawing subject, and to determine whether students’ cognitive styles affected instruction outcomes. The factorial 2 x 2 research design was used in this study.  The subjects were all students who registered in the first semester of 2004/ 2005 for Mechanical Drawing Class (Menggambar Teknik 1) consisting of 57 students, and randomly divided into two classes. The subjects were tested using Group Embedded Figures Test to reveal their ”field dependent or field independent” cognitive styles. The achievement test in drawing reading was used to determine the effectiveness of teaching strategy. The result of this study indicated that organized content using epitome and review offered viable teaching strategy for teaching drawing reading in mechanical drawing subject. Student cognitive style (field independent or field independent) has significant effect on their learning achievement; however, there was no interaction between the teaching strategy and students’ cognitive styles on the instruction outcome. Abstract

Kebijakan pemerataan dan perluasan akses pendidikan dilakukan oleh pemerintah dengan mengalokasikan anggaran pendidikan sebesar 20% dari APBN, membebaskan biaya sekolah bagi SD dan SMP, program Dana BOS, Bantuan KIP dan lain sebagainya. Pemerintah juga membangun Unit Sekolah Baru dan penambahan Ruang Kelas Baru pada sekolah. Kebijakan ini bentuk keseriusan pemerintah dalam memajukan pendidikan di Indonesia. Namun kebijakan ini menimbulkan masalah baru bagi sekolah swasta terutama sekolah kecil (jumlah siswa minim). Penambahan sekolah baru di daerah yang sudah ada sekolah negeri dan swasta dan penambahan ruang kelas baru pada sekolah negeri menjadi pemicu berkurangnya jumlah siswa yang mendaftar di sekolah swasta. Jika hal ini tidak mendapat perhatian dari pemerintah sebagai pengambil kebijakan akan berdampak pada “kematian sekolah swasta”. Dalam analisis kebijakan publik, W.I Jenkins membuat langkah-langkah dalam menganalisis kebijakan yaitu: a) inisiasi, b) informasi, c) pertimbangan, d) keputusan, e) implementasi, f) evaluasi, dan g) terminasi (penghentian).

Abstract

Tercapai atau tidaknya tujuan pendidikan nasional ditentukan oleh terpenuhinya Standar Nasional Pendidikan (SNP). Guru menjadi unsur kunci dalam tercapainya standar mutu Pendidikan. Beragam kebijakan pemerintah hadir dalam mewujudkan mutu Pendidikan nasional yang diharapkan semakin baik. Kajian teori ini menggambarkan bagaimana kebijakan mutu terkait Standar Nasional Pendidikan khususnya Standar Pendidik dari sudut pandang teori ilmu kebijakan Brewer. Enam fase dasar dalam membuat program kebijakan. yang dikemukakan oleh Brewer mulai dari Invention/Initiation, Estimation, Selection, Implementation, Evaluation, dan Termination, dibahas dalam kajian ini. Kebijakan-kebijakan pemerintah terkait standar pendidik dalam bagian kebijakan standar mutu pendidikan sudah mengikuti alur proses kebijakan dimulai dengan Penemuan/inisiasi masalah yang membutuhkan kebijakan, estimasi kemungkinan usulan kebijakan sebagai solusi masalah, besarnya keuntungan, resiko dan biaya yang ditimbulkan sebagai efek kebijakan standar mutu ini. Sebagai rekomendasi kedepannya kebijakan mutu Pendidikan ini dalam tahap implementasi dan evaluasi harus benar-benar diperhatikan. Pengukuran menyeluruh tentang standar mutu setiap lembaga Pendidikan sebaiknya tetap dilakukan secara transparan dan akuntabel. Pertimbangan etika dan kemanusiaan juga tidak boleh luput dalam penentuan dan pelaksanaan kebijakan mutu Pendidikan di Indonesia.

Abstract

This research aims to design media for remote control systems so that the application requires a combination of hardware and software. Internet of Things (IoT) devices are used as hardware devices to monitor the physical conditions of a working mechanical system. At the same time, the software displays data in digital numeric form, which is controlled remotely using the Android and Windows operating systems. This research consists of 3 stages: 1) analysis of problems and basic needs, 2) product design, and 3) product testing. The results of the basic needs analysis determine that learning in automotive electrical electronics, engineering measurement instrumentation, and automotive control systems must include intelligent automotive materials. The results of the IoT hardware and software designs are connected and work well, resulting in accurate data readings. The product testing results obtained an average value of 85.71%, so the IoT data acquisition media trainer functions well. Utilization of IoT devices as a learning simulation medium in the Industrial Revolution 4.0 era.

Abstract

Learning innovations integrating the latest scientific theory sources emphasize the importance of students' technical skills in facing the transformation of Industry 4.0 technology. This study aims to determine the improvement of technical skills with the SAM (Successive Approximation Model) instructional design approach in Automotive Electrical and Electronics Engineering (AEEE) courses based on Industry 4.0. In this study, 20 respondents were divided into three groups. The SAM model is used as a practical learning instruction. The study results show that the SAM instructional design can improve students' abilities in analyzing, thinking critically, and solving problems. However, soft skills are obstacles, such as communication, action, and Emotional management skills. Student demographic data and pretest data compared to satisfaction data show a significant increase. Thus, the SAM instructional design is effective as one of the strategies for improving students' technical skills. This implication can reference more structured and directed skill passport learning.
