Abstract

Upaya peningkatan kualitas arang bakau untuk proses karburising padat telah dilakukan dengan penambahan natrium karbonat (Na2CO3). Arang bakau digilas menjadi serbuk dan disaring dengan ukuran mesh 30. Serbuk arang ini dicampur Na2CO3 dengan variasi 0, 15, 20, 25 dan 30 % berat. Hasil campuran ini digunakan untuk proses karburising padat pada benda uji baja karbon rendah dengan 98,34% Fe dan 0,156% C pada suhu 850oC selama 4 jam. Benda-benda uji hasil karburising ini dipanaskan kembali pada 850oC selama 5 menit, kemudian dicelupkan ke dalam air 28oC. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penambahan 25% berat Na2CO3 menghasilkan case depth setebal yaitu 520 µm dan kekerasan permukaan maksimum 683 VHN. Perubahan struktur mikro dari ferrit-perlit ke martensit setelah proses pencelupan menunjukkan bahwa terjadi peningkatan unsur karbon pada permukaan benda uji baja ini hingga kedalaman 520 µm.Kata kunci: arang bakau, karburising padat, natrium karbonat

Abstract

This  research   is   aimed   to   determine   the   differences   of   chipcompression ratio and tool wear between a modified double cuttingtool and a standard cutting tool.The workpiece is made of VCN 150 with a dimension of e 1,75 inchand 200 mm long. Because the diameter of the blank is constant, the spindle rotation is set to 265 RPM  Both cutters use the same coolant and have the same  cutting angle.  The properties  to be varied are depth  of  cuts  and feed   Depth  of  cuts  of standard  cutting  tool  is formulated by the blank diameter substituted by the final diameter and than divided by two. The same formulation  goes for  depth of cuts of modified cutting tool. Tool wears and chip compression ratio values chosen  is  the  biggest  value  on  each  cutting  edge.  Steps  of  this research one: Record the tool wear and chip compression ratio for each feed,  which one 0,043; 0,066; 0,0875; and 0,/75  mmlrev while using depth of cuts of 0,5; I; 1,5 and 2 mm. Each treatment is done 5 times or each cutting stroke  and the average  is  taken  as a result. Comparing tool wear and chip compression ratio resulted from  the utilization of modified cutting tool and standard tool.It can be concluded from  the result  of this research  that (I)  using modified cutting tool, there is an improvement of chip compression ratio  equal  to  6,74%   compared  to  the  standard  cutter  (2)  using modified cutting tool there is a reduction tool wear equals to 14,53% compared the standard cutting /001.

Abstract

Sebuah alat untuk proses elektroplating yang mampu mengakomodasi sembilan tahap proses yang telah dikembangkan untuk praktik di SMK perlu diketahui kinerjanya terkait kelayakannya sebagai sarana pendukung praktik. Uji kinerja dilakukan pada baja lunak. Variasi kuat arus adalah 1,8; 2,6; dan 3,6 A. Variasi lama proses pelapisan adalah 4 menit 50 detik dan 9 menit 39 detik. Hasil pengujian menunjukkan bahwa kuat arus 1,8 A dengan lama proses 4 menit 50 detik dan kuat arus 3,6 A dengan lama proses 9 menit 39 detik tidak direkomendasikan untuk pembelajran praktik menggunakan alat yang dikembangkan. Karakteristik lapisan yang dihasilkan adalah mengkilap, halus, dan merata. Efisiensi alat adalah 84,45 % untuk target tebal lapisan 10 µm pada kuat arus 7,5 A/dm2.

Abstract

This research was aimed at developing economizer on aluminum crucible furnace to improve the furnace's performance. The research implements a Research and Development method. The economizer effects was determined from the performance test. The furnace were being tested with and without economizer at the same process condition. The developed furnace exhaust have the same diameter with the gas burner inlet. The exhaust was extended and curved to serve as an economizer. Aluminum of 11.78 kg can be melted with the economizer effects in 60 minutes, and only required 2.6 kg of LPG, whereas without economizer it required 3.1 kg LPG in 80 minutes for the same amounts of Aluminum. Penelitian ini bertujuan menambahkan economizer pada tungku pelebur aluminium untuk memperbaiki performa tungku. Metode Research and Development diterapkan untuk pengembangan tungku. Efek penggunaan economizer ditentukan dari uji kinerja. Tungku diuji coba tanpa dan dengan economizer pada kondisi proses yang sama. Saluran buang pada tungku berdiameter sama dengan saluran masuk. Saluran dibuat memanjang dan berbelok berfungsi sebagai economizer. Aluminium 11,78 kg dapat dicairkan memakai economizer dalam 60 menit dan membutuhkan 2,6 kg gas LPG, sedang tanpa economizer membutuhkan 3,1 kg gas LPG dan waktu 80 menit.

Abstract

Hydrothermal processing is appraised as one of  advanced technologies for wet solid waste handling. In this study, herb residue was subjected to hydrothermal treatment. Calorific value, yield, and also proximate analysis of obtained hydro-char were investigated. A cylindrical reactor with an internal volume of 2.5 Litres made of stainless steel and a low-tech component was used in the experiment. The reactor was equipped with a stirrer to ensure heat transfer took place through the entire parts of the solid-water mixture. Solid products were dried by a microwave oven before analysis. The results show that the final temperature, holding time, and solid-water ratio have various effects on the hydro-char yield, calorific value, and proximate analysis of the hydrothermal products. The hydro-char yield decreased with the increase in final temperature and holding time. Meanwhile, the highest hydro-char yield was obtained at the solid-water ratio of ¼. The hydro-char calorific value increased with the increase in final temperature, holding time, and solid-water ratio. The rise in final temperature, holding time, and solid-water ratio resulted in  a lower moisture content and volatile matter but higher fixed carbon. Meanwhile, the ash content increased with the solid-to-water ratio.

Abstract

This paper aims at developing the potential of cellulose-based energy generation using pyrolysis, gasification, and combustion methods with biodegradable waste media. The cellulose-based material used in this study was sawdust. The sawdust was heated using a biomass stove, which was then analyzed in terms of heat conduction and propagation as well as temperature distribution. To ensure the effectiveness of sawdust as the main material in the biomass stove, sawdust particles were pressed and compacted under various pressure conditions. This experiment was integrated with the Project-Based Learning method through the following steps: (1) determination of projects testing, (2) project design, (3) project implementation schedules, (4) project completion and progress monitoring, (5) reports and presentations of project results, and (6) project evaluation. The results provide new findings that the denser sawdust particles correlate with the greater temperature and propagation rate. This can be obtained from the measured temperature distribution. Areas close to the heat source tend to have the same heat propagation. The density of the sawdust particle is the main key point for producing better pyrolysis and gasification process, in which it correlates with long combustion energy. Integrasi This finding opens a new concept and can be used as a reference for other researchers who develop research related to renewable energy from waste, especially when using a biomass stove.  This study also gives ideas for the need for developing project-based learning using the burning of sawdust using biomass stove as a tool for the teaching and learning process.

Abstract

Abstrak: Desa Manjung merupakan sentra produksi soun pati aren di Jawa namun menghadapi permasalahan pada aspek produksi, kemasan, dan pemasaran. Tujuan kegiatan ini adalah meningkatkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan pembuat soun melalui perbaikan produksi, kemasan, dan pemasaran soun pati aren di Koperasi Adi Mulya, Manjung, Klaten, Jawa Tengah. Metode kegiatan dilakukan dengan diskusi bersama 25 orang anggota koperasi, pengujian komposisi gizi, pembuatan disain dan pencetakan kemasan, pembuatan akun e-commerce, serta pendampingan pengemasan dan pemasaran digital. Perbaikan produksi dilakukan dengan penyaringan dan pencucian menggunakan air bersih tanpa kaporit dan pemasakan pada suhu 80-85ºC sampai adonan kental dan transparan. Kemasan soun menggunakan standing pouch paper metalized dengan warna merah, putih, dan gold, merk Sounku, dan informasi lain. Klaim kemasan adalah soun sehat, tinggi serat pangan dan tinggi RS sehingga berpotensi sebagai pangan fungsional. Pemasaran dilakukan dengan pembuatan akun Shopee. Kegiatan ini dapat meningkatkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan pembuat soun dalam produksi, kemasan, dan pemasaran sebesar 100% sehingga berkontribusi meningkatkan mutu, branding, dan pangsa pasar.Abstract: Manjung Village is a center for the production of vermicelli from arenga starch in Java but faces problems in the aspects of production, packaging and marketing. The purpose of this activity was to increase the knowledge and skills of vermicelli makers through improving the production, packaging and marketing of arenga starch vermicelli at the Adi Mulya Cooperative, Manjung, Klaten, Central Java. The activity method was carried out by discussing with 25 members of the cooperative, determination of the nutritional composition, designing and printing packaging, creating e-commerce accounts, as well as packaging and digital marketing assistance. Production improvement was conducted by filtering and washing using clean water without chlorine and cooking at a temperature of 80-85ºC until the dough is thick and transparent. The soun packaging used metalized paper standing pouch with red, white, and gold base colors, Sounku brand, and others information. The packaging claims are the healthy vermicelli, high in dietary fiber and RS so it has the potential to be a functional food. Marketing is done by creating a Shopee account. This activity can increase the knowledge and skills of vermicelli makers in production, packaging and marketing by 100% so as to contribute to increasing quality, branding and market share.
