Abstract

The present study investigates the implementation of the traditional game Bentengan in physical education learning and its influence on students’ cooperative skills. The research applied a quantitative descriptive approach involving 24 twelfth-grade students of SMAN 2 Tanjung Jabung Barat selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through a cooperation questionnaire and an observation sheet covering five main indicators: active participation, communication, group responsibility, mutual respect, and mutual assistance. The data were analyzed descriptively using percentage calculations and classified into four levels: very good, good, fair, and poor. The results showed that the integration of Bentengan effectively enhanced students’ cooperation in PJOK learning, as seen through their increased participation, communication, and responsibility within the group. Furthermore, traditional game–based learning fosters mutual cooperation, sportsmanship, and a more interactive and meaningful learning atmosphere.

Abstract

This study examines the development of a collaborative-based physical education curriculum designed to enhance students’ social skills and teamwork abilities in senior high schools. The research employed a mixed-methods approach with a quasi-experimental design involving 30 students from a public school in Jambi City. Data were collected through observation sheets, collaboration questionnaires, and teacher reflection notes, then analyzed using t-tests and thematic analysis. The results showed a significant improvement in social skills by 23.5% and collaboration levels by 19.8% after the program implementation. The Sport Education Model (SEM) and Teaching Personal and Social Responsibility (TPSR) approaches effectively fostered teamwork, empathy, and social responsibility. However, challenges remained in teachers’ readiness, facilities, and pedagogical competence. The study concludes that a well-structured collaborative-based physical education curriculum can optimize students’ social development while aligning with 21st-century learning goals and the Kurikulum Merdeka framework.

Abstract

Abstract

This study examined pressing intensity in the 2024/25 Indonesia Liga 1 season by analysing defensive line height, defensive actions in the opponent’s half, and their relationship with team performance. Using a cross-sectional design, secondary aggregate data from all 18 clubs were analysed through descriptive statistics, Spearman correlation, and regression analysis. Defensive line height reflected the average positioning of a team’s defensive unit, while opponent-half defensive actions represented the frequency of pressing in advanced areas. The results showed a negative correlation between defensive line height and final league ranking, indicating that teams with higher defensive positioning tended to achieve better standings. Defensive actions in the opponent’s half were positively associated with total points, suggesting that more aggressive pressing may contribute to improved performance. Regression analysis revealed that defensive line height explained 32% of the variance in points obtained. Sensitivity analysis further suggested that lower defensive line height may support counterattacking effectiveness, whereas higher opponent-half defensive actions were linked to goals from open play. Overall, pressing-related indicators provide valuable insights into team performance and may help coaches design tactical periodization and position-specific conditioning programs.

Abstract

The integration of traditional games into Physical Education, Sports, and Health (PJOK) learning can strengthen student engagement, develop motor skills, and instill cultural values. However, the success of integration is largely determined by the teacher’s strategy in planning, implementing, and contextually evaluating learning. This study aims to describe PJOK teachers’ strategies in integrating traditional games into PJOK learning in elementary schools. The study uses a qualitative case study design. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews with PJOK teachers, participatory observation of the implementation of learning, and a study of teaching materials. Data analysis followed an interactive analysis model combined with thematic analysis to produce the main strategy themes. The results of the study show that teachers’ strategies are grouped into six themes: (1) mapping movement objectives and time allocation; (2) selecting games based on competence and environmental context; (3) modifying rules, tools, and space for safety and inclusiveness; (4) classroom management based on small groups, stations, and control signals; (5) internalization of cultural values through reflection and value language; and (6) process-outcome evaluation using rubrics, checklists, journals, and video-based reflection. The findings confirm that traditional games are effective vehicles for holistic learning when structured activities are aligned with learning outcomes and student needs.
