Abstract

The Healthy School Activation program was designed to address the growing concerns of sedentary lifestyles, limited health knowledge, and low physical activity among elementary school students. It seeks to cultivate healthier behaviors, improve learning focus, and promote a collaborative school culture involving students, teachers, and parents. This qualitative study involved 120 fifth grade students from two elementary schools in Muara Bulian, divided into intervention and control groups. Ten teachers participated as key informants. Data collection methods included questionnaires, anthropometric assessments, and semi-structured interviews. The intervention led to a 35% increase in students' physical activity levels and improved health knowledge from 40% to 85%. A notable reduction in body mass index was observed among overweight students. Positive shifts were also reported in students’ attitudes toward physical activity, accompanied by enhanced focus and peer interaction in the classroom. Findings suggest that the program is effective in promoting active and healthy lifestyles among elementary students. The program adopts a collaborative strategy involving educators and families, providing a feasible model for promoting active lifestyles and fostering a supportive, health oriented school culture that can be implemented broadly and sustainably.

Abstract

This study examines the relationship between physical fitness activities and basic movement skills among upper elementary students in Muara Bulian District. Using a quantitative survey of 200 grade V and VI students, data were collected through questionnaires and observation sheets, then analyzed using descriptive statistics and Pearson correlation via SPSS. Results show students exercised an average of 2.31 times per week, with only 45% routinely active. The average movement skill score was 65.27, with 50% performing well. A significant positive correlation was found between physical activity frequency and movement skills (r = 0.472; p < 0.01). The study highlights the need for better facilities, enhanced PE teacher roles, and parental support to improve physical activity and movement development in schools. Keywords: physical fitness, basic movement skills, elementary school students, physical education, physical activity

Abstract

Stunting is a chronic nutritional problem that can affect children's physical development, including body composition and cardiorespiratory capacity. This study aims to analyze the relationship between body mass index (BMI) and cardiorespiratory endurance in stunted children of elementary school age. A cross-sectional study was conducted on 120 stunted children aged 6-12 years in three elementary schools. Anthropometric measurements included height, weight, and BMI calculation. Cardiorespiratory endurance was measured using a 6-minute walk test. Data were analyzed using Pearson correlation and linear regression. The average BMI of the subjects was 15.2 ± 2.1 kg/m², with 65% being categorized as underweight. The average distance covered in the 6-minute test was 420 ± 68 meters. There was a moderate positive correlation (r = 0.42; p < 0.001) between BMI and cardiorespiratory endurance. There is a significant positive relationship between BMI and cardiorespiratory endurance in stunted children, indicating the importance of nutritional interventions to improve children's physical capacity.

Abstract

Maximum achievement in the world of sports can only be achieved if training is carried out in a quality manner and follows systematic coaching principles such as the concept of coaching pyramid. The use of science and technology (IPTEK) is very important to obtain data on the physiological characteristics of athletes, which are then used as a reference in compiling training programs. In the training process, load management must consider the physical condition of each athlete, because the training load functions to stimulate an increase in their physiological capacity. However, errors in managing the training load can have a negative impact on the athlete's physical condition. Signs such as increased heart rate, frequent dizziness, and digestive and metabolic disorders are symptoms of overtraining that will hinder the athlete's performance in achieving the best performance. This overtraining is usually caused by errors in planning and implementing the training program
