Abstract

Abstract

There are three aspects of competitive strategy that can be applied by manufacturing companies: quality, cost, anddelivery time. Actually, it is hard to produce high quality poducts in low manufacturing cost and on time delivery. Hence, a process selection is needed to integrated the three aspects above in order to meet a customer requirement. This research develops a process selection model to minimize manufacturing cost, quality loss cost, and lateness cost considering component spesification, delivery time, production capacity, and customer order. A numerical example is given to show the application of the model using an assembly product that consists of three components. Three machines are used to produce all of the components. Each machine has different characteristic in manufacturing cost, tolerances, and processing time. Total cost that used to produce 100 unit assembly product is Rp5.390.970,00.

Abstract

In a manufacturing company, manufacturing costs, or component prices, and tolerance will affect the price and the quality of a product. Companies must produce high-quality products with low manufacturing costs in order to keep their products competitive in the market; however, it is difficult to produce a high-quality product with a low manufacturing cost. Companies have difficulties in determining the components to be produced using their own manufacturing facilities (make) or outsourced to their suppliers (buy). Hence, a make or buy analysis is needed to minimize the manufacturing costs and quality loss and to determine the optimum alternative regarding make or buy decisions. This paper discusses an optimization model of a make or buy analysis for a manufacturing company in order to minimize the manufacturing costs and the quality loss in terms of manufacturer and customer quality loss. A numerical example is provided to show the application of the model using a simple assembly product consisting of three components. There are two machines that can be used to produce the components and three alternatives of suppliers to fulfill the order. Each machine and supplier have different characteristics in terms of manufacturing costs and its tolerance.

Abstract

Abstract

Stand Up Comedy is one of the growing entertainment industries in Indonesia. The quality of the joke of the stand up comedian can be seen from the audience's response in the form of laughter and facial expressions. But it is very difficult to determine the audience's laughter level manually. Therefore, a tool is needed to measure the audience's laughter level more objectively. In this study, a machine learning model was designed and developed using a convolutional neural network to analyze the facial expressions of the stand-up comedian audience. The research stages include dataset collection, data preprocessing, model design, model training and model testing. The model was tested using artificial data from crowd emotion and live data from video crowd viewers. The results of this study show that the model can classify facial expressions in image and video data well. The model has an overall validation accuracy value of 72.42% with precision, recall, and F1-score values of 0.7341, 0.7309, and 0.7294, respectively, and a testing accuracy of 83.28% with precision, recall, and F1-score values of 0.8477, 0.8329, and 0.8297, respectively.

Abstract

Supplier selection is essential for any organization , as it plays a significant role in enhancing productivity. This study focuses on a local pharmaceutical wholesaler (PW) company, which places orders with other local PWs to meet its demand. Typically, pharmaceutical companies rely on multiple suppliers to satisfy their needs. However, due to an inadequate evaluation of supplier criteria, a Multi-Criteria Decision Making (MCDM) approach has been implemented to assist the PW in selecting superior suppliers and ensuring an efficient selection process. A key issue in this case study is the lack of a structured method for assessing supplier criteria, resulting in a subjective and lengthy selection process. The criteria for supplier selection encompass quality, flexibility, price, delivery, service, and supplier profile. Furthermore, alongside supplier selection, optimizing order allocation is essential for reducing purchasing costs while maximizing supplier scores. This research proposes a model designed to aid PW in addressing both supplier selection and order allocation challenges. The MCDM framework commences with the Best Worst Method (BWM) to establish the weight of each criterion. These weights then serve as input for the Technique for Order of Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution (TOPSIS), which ranks and prioritizes suppliers based on their evaluation scores. Subsequently, the results from TOPSIS inform the determination of optimal order allocation through a Multi-Objective Optimization (MOO) method. As part of the system modeling, a sensitivity analysis was performed to explore the effects of specific parameters on the objective function and decision variables, assessing variations in inventory costs, shortage costs, and demand. The findings indicated that only the demand parameter had a significant effect on decision variables, particularly regarding inventory levels and shortages. This research offers a comprehensive solution for the PW to tackle supplier selection and optimal order allocation. By employing MCDM and multi-objective optimization strategies, the company can achieve lower purchasing costs while selecting optimal suppliers based on their evaluation scores. The optimization model presented has dual objective functions: minimizing costs and maximizing total supplier value. Consequently, the model achieved a total purchasing cost of Rp. 340,196,740 and a total supplier value of 5,265,032.
