Abstract

Workers making reeds roofs work with a working posture sitting on the floor with a slightly bent back. Intervention by giving floor chairs as a base during work as well as structuring the production process layout. This study aims to improve work engagement and productivity of workers making reeds roofs in Gianyar. The research design used was experimental with randomized pre-posttest control group design involving 16 randomly selected research samples. The subjects in this study were divided into two groups: the control group were workers who worked as usual and the treatment group were workers who worked using floor chairs and structuring the production process layout. Work engagement was recorded using the UWES 17 questionnaire and productivity was recorded from the number of Imperata roofs produced. Data analysis used parametric tests with a value of ? 0.05 for normally distributed data and non-parametric tests for data that were not normally distributed. The results showed a significant difference in work engagement and productivity (p<0.05). In the control group the mean score of work engagement was 50.75 and the productivity was 0.067. Whereas in the treatment group the average score of work engagement was 71.12 and productivity was 0.015. Giving floor chairs and structuring the layout of the production process is proven to increase work engagement by 40.13% and increase productivity by 34.60%. It can be concluded that the application of ergonomics in the form of providing floor chairs and structuring the layout of the production process is proven to increase work engagement and work productivity in workers making reeds roofs.

Abstract

In the process of clove flower sorting, occupational health problems can be found, such as working in a standing position for hours, repetitive hand movements in separating clove flowers for more than 8 hours a day, and workers working with non-ergonomic postures that pose risks. This study aims to determine the relationship between internal and external factors with musculoskeletal disorders and work fatigue. Method: This study uses a quantitative research design with an analytical cross-sectional approach. The sampling technique in this study uses total sampling from all 30 clove flower sorting workers. Data collected consists of primary data, and univariate analysis and bivariate analysis using the Chi-square test were performed to determine the relationship. Results: It was found that musculoskeletal complaints, musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs), and work fatigue were significantly higher in relation to age, length of service, working hours, rest time, physical workload, and work posture. Conclusion: Internal and external factors of the respondents are related to musculoskeletal complaints (MSDs) and work fatigue in clove flower sorting workers.

Abstract

Introduction: Farmers who spray pesticides without using Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), such as masks or respirators, are highly susceptible to respiratory disorders. Direct exposure to pesticide vapors or particles inhaled during work can lead to symptoms such as coughing, shortness of breath, and respiratory tract irritation, and may cause chronic lung diseases over time. Methods: This study used a quantitative research design with an analytic cross-sectional approach. The sampling technique applied was total sampling, involving all 33 farmers who met the inclusion criteria. Primary data were collected and analyzed using univariate and bivariate analysis. The Chi-square test was employed to determine the relationships between variables. Results: The study found that subjective complaints of respiratory problems were significantly more common among farmers aged ≥40 years (p = 0.006), with a work duration of ≥10 years (p = 0.028), and daily work hours of ≥8 hours (p = 0.0043). Additionally, smoking status (p = 0.031), poor use of PPE (p = 0.008), and high levels of pesticide exposure (p = 0.014) were also significantly associated with respiratory complaints. Conclusion: Farmer characteristics, including age, length of employment, working hours, smoking habits, PPE usage, and pesticide exposure levels, are associated with subjective respiratory complaints among farmers

Abstract

Abstract

Work stress can trigger work fatigue in workers which has an impact on decreasing work productivity. This research is a quantitative descriptive research with a cross-sectional approach. The sampling technique in the study was simple random sampling. The population in this study amounted to 459 respondents and based on the calculation of the sample size formula, the sample needed was 69 respondents. To find out the incidence of stress due to work is carried out using questionnaires. The results of occupational stress events in construction workers showed that as many as 23.2% of respondents experienced work-related stress. The results of the chis quare test showed that occupational stress disorders in response had significant differences (p < 0.05) in workload and age, while other variables such as length of work and noise perception did not show significant differences with occupational stress events. Based on the findings above, the advice should be for companies to provide clear information about rest periods and targets to be achieved so that workers do not feel exhausted and burdened at work
