Abstract

Some verses of the Qur’an are positioned as the legality of practice of violence and abuse of men to women in their marriage. This paper focuses on the verse paragraph which reduces the rights of women in marriage, associated with a complete picture of women’s rights in marriage which are expected to minimize the outbreak of violence in the house hold and can revive the spirit of the Qur’an for women’s in dependence and the liberation of non-human bondage. Abstract

This article is about a critical study of the thematic method of the Qur’an. It studies the nature of the method and provides a critical assessment of it. One of the gaps that the study will try to fill in is the lack of attention being given to the context out of which any particular text was revealed. The thematic approach is not particularly good at looking at the backgrounds of the text. It is this shortcoming that the paper will try to evaluate critically. It argues that the task of any interpreter of a text has been to understand first and foremost the surroundings that shape the text and constitute part and parcel of it. This understanding would determine the nature of the text and help guide the interpreter in the process of interpretation. The meaning of a text can change according to its context. The same word can infer to a different subject also according to the context. The paper will further elaborate this point further so as to give a clear idea that a thematic approach cannot ignore this aspect of exegesis.

Abstract

The Quranic verse which is believed has multi-interpretation and can be understood from many aspects of sciences frequently brings people who did not have any competency in this field interpreting it based on their own desire and purpose to win a specific group from another. The phenomenon of interpreting some of the Qur?anic verses by some groups in the process of a gubernatorial election in DKI Jakarta produces different interpretations. Finally, this differences cause conflict and debate which cannot be avoided. Every groups assume their interpretation is absolute. As a result, they blame or infidel another group. This research examines the interpretations of the Qur?anic verses which are used during a gubernatorial election in DKI Jakarta. The object of this study based on texts and audio which are spread on the sites of the internet. All of the data will be interpreted based on the theory of interpretation rules approach. This research concludes that the personal or group interest is able to change the paradigm of the Qur?anic interpretation including political interest.

Abstract

This article is the result of a study that discusses the tahfidz al-Qur’an learning model that is applied in Indonesia, Iran, Turkey, and Saudi Arabia. In addition, this research also wants to formulate the characteristics of each tahfidz institution by exploring the similarities and differences of each of the tahfidz institutions in the four countries in applying the tahfidz learning model, including its strategies and methods. The results of the study concluded that methodologically, learning tahfidz Qur’an in Indonesia, Iran, Turkey, and Saudi Arabia has similarities in terms of the continuity of the scientific pathways of the al-Qur’an teachers or al-Qur’an guides to the Prophet. In addition, the learning method applied also has similarities between one institution or pesantren and institutions in these countries, where the method is applied in a strict and structured manner, namely the bi al-naẓar method or the qirā’ah method, the kitābah method, and the method. simā'i The four countries also apply the same model in learning, namely talaqqī-mushāfahah, where students must deposit their memorization to the teacher face to face and the teacher must pay attention to the students reading. A significant difference between the countries with regard to specific materials or inserts is the level of understanding of the memorized verses. This research was conducted directly in four countries, namely Indonesia, Iran, Turkey, and Saudi Arabia with a qualitative approach and analyzed descriptively-comparatively.

Abstract

The major problem discussed in this article is the presence of domestic violence conducted by husbands towards their wives in their marriages. Several verses of the Qur’an have been used to legitimize these arrogant actions. Using religious texts and culture of patriarchy, domestic violence seems to persist. This article discusses the interpretation of some verses of the Qur’an, especially the mystical interpretation, which is related to the rights of wives in marriage. Two mystical interpretations are the case of the study, i.e., Ruh al-Ma‘ani of al-Alusi and al-Fawatih al-Ilahiyya of al-Jilani. This article describes analytically and critically explores the ideas of al-Jilani and al-Alusi about women’s rights in Islam.

Abstract

This article examines the paradigm in the implementation of learning tahfidz al-Qur’an virtually. In conducting this research, the authors interviewed students who had implemented distance education or virtual programs during the pandemic. This paper also evaluates people's culture in learning the Qur’an online. The main purpose of this paper is to prove that technological offerings related to learning the Qur'an require talaqqi-musyafahah between teachers and students. This research is important to do to help or open up insights for the public that the position of the online internet network is only a tool to facilitate learning caused by the Covid-19 pandemic or in certain situations. The reading results must be shown to the teacher to be corrected right or wrong.

Abstract

Epistemology is a philosophical study of the origin, structure, method of validity and the objective of knowledge. It explains the processes and procedures for obtaining knowledge. This study focuses on the sign of Qur'anic language on the process of obtaining knowledge, using semantic analysis. The object of the study is the three-word meaning system in the process of obtaining knowledge in the Qur'an, i.e., ra’a, naẓar and baṣar which translated to 'see something'. This study shows that there are consistences of differences between the three words. Almost all the terms ra’a have the meaning of 'see something with sensory perception.' This meaning is different from the term naẓar that has the meaning of 'see something through the senses and reinforced by reason with any reflections and connections with other objects.' Meanwhile, baṣar has the meaning of 'see something with the heart'. Therefore, based on the study of the three words, the Qur’anic epistemology indicates the importance of senses, reason, and heart in the process of obtaining knowledge.

Abstract

This paper discusses the trials of life which in the Qur’an are called slander. The dominant meaning of slander is a troublesome ordeal. Bad trials here tend to be collective trials rather than individuals. That is, this word is more often used by a certain group in this case are infidels to attack other groups, namely Muslims. This is because many verses about libel fall during the period of makkiyah. Therefore, the meaning of slander that often appears in the Qur’an is chaos, persecution, assault, murder, kufr, expropriation of wealth and the like. Defamation as a test of one's faith is a sunnatullah that cannot be rejected or avoided by anyone. The quality of one's faith will be seen if it has been faced with various difficulties. To get comprehensive results from this discussion, the authors use the thematic method. This method tries to raise various issues and concepts of the Qur’an which ultimately gain an understanding that refers to a unified view of nature and life.

Abstract

This article is the result of a study that discusses the map of the study of Quran, which is represented by dissertations written by the Postgraduate programs of UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta and UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta for the period of 2005-2012. This article shows the disproportionate phenomenon between the number of dissertations written in the study of Quran and the quality of the results. It is proven from the slow development of the study of Quran. Qualitatively, there has been no significant development, both in the title and content of the dissertation. It is found that many titles and objects of study are similar between one UIN (State Islamic University) and another UIN or IAIN (State Islamic College). The majority of dissertations still discuss Islamic and humanitarian issues in general, but do not relate them to Indonesian problems. This article uses discourse content analysis.
