Abstract

Love is a part of human emotion in form of complete tendency toward an object. As a life guidance, the holy book of Al-Qur‟an brings to life not only the physical dimension but also the psychological dimension of humankind. Al-Qur‟an has defined one single object as the fundamental base of life namely love to the Creator of life Himself, Allah AWT. Love to God is the primary foundation which has to be built on every Muslim‟s soul. With love, worshipping feels enjoyable and with it life is both physically and mentally healthy. The problem is, why is this ideal concept not yet realized optimally in life? This writing aims at formulizing Dzu al-Nun al-Misri‟s proposition on the concept of love to Allah. Through the interpretation of verses on love, this normative concept can hopefully become a guide towards a life full of love, without violence and disunity. Key words: love, hub-mahabbah, Dzu al-Nun al-Misri

Abstract

Recognizing that thematic Qur'anic interpretation has become the most prominent method in the modern era, this study aims to track its evolution in Indonesia. Despite its popularity in academic contexts, there remains a critical gap in examining its application outside of universities. This study focuses on the shifts in interpretative authority and methodology in thematic Qur'anic exegesis across different sectors, including the state, Islamic boarding schools, universities, and individuals. Using a critical analysis method, the study uncovers several key findings. Firstly, there has been an authoritative shift, where Qur'anic commentators in Indonesia are not limited to traditional mufassir but now include scholars from non-religious fields. Secondly, methodological shifts are evident in several aspects: the editorial framing of interpretations, the reduction in the selection of Qur'anic verses used as primary research data, and the emergence of distinct interpretative tendencies. Additionally, there has been a paradigm shift in the relationship between Qur'anic text and social reality, where one approach begins with the Qur'an and leads to an idealistic-normative interpretation, while another starts from social reality and results in an applicative-solutive interpretation. This research fills a crucial academic gap by highlighting the broader changes in thematic exegesis, offering insights into its evolving methodologies and its relevance in addressing contemporary social realities in Indonesia.

Abstract

This article is based on the fact that the Qur’an mentions the meaning of blind in the word a’mā and its derivatives. From the word (lafadz) it has a meaning or a concept and has a broader meaning. What is meant by blind in this research is not just something that cannot be seen in plain view. This means that there is the possibility of other meanings so that it becomes an element of understanding of a particular purpose. So, the main problem that is discussed in this paper is: how is the concept of blind in the perspective of the Qur'an? The results of this study indicate that the Qur’an constructs a system of meaning from the word a’mā (أعمى) and its derivation is born with broader meanings. Blind in al-Qur'an has a lot of attention to people who are considered to be psychologically blind (inward) and as a form of appreciation of the Qur’an, a small portion are mentioned physically blind (outward).

Abstract

Even though the teaching of taqiyya is explicitly mentioned in the Qur’an, this concept is often negatively connoted as a heretical doctrine of a particular group, especially the Shia. This study aims to explore the interpretation of the Qur’an commentators towards the taqiyya verse (Q.S. Āli Imrān [3]: 28) in order to formulate the concept of taqiyya which can be actualized for the benefit of religious life. By examining the interpretations of some Qur’an commentators from various Islamic sects and implementing the descriptive-analytical method, the study concluded that the interpretation of taqiyya verse is not only limited to life-threatening emergency situations among kāfir ḥarbi, but also considered to be practiced in Muslim relations with non-Muslims or fellow Muslims in ordinary situations. Thus, taqiyya can manifest two main components of tolerance; patience and endurance by hiding beliefs or understandings that have the potential to disrupt the unity and integrity of multicultural society.

Abstract

This paper is the result of research that discusses virtual tahfiz al-Qur’an learning at the Syarif Hidayatullah State Islamic University Jakarta and the Jakarta Institute of Al-Qur’an Science. The problem in this paper is where the learning process is currently carried out in a virtual or online manner which has led to a different reception among academics. This paper also reviews some of the applications used in the tahfiz learning process. In addition, the purpose of this paper is to compare the application of virtual tahfiz al-Qur'an in several institutions to find the advantages and characteristics of each applied learning model. Thus, educational institutions must prepare learning strategies in the future in utilizing existing technology, as well as preparing students to be resilient to situations and conditions. So that virtual learning is considered effective.

Abstract

The “Aḥkām al-Qur’ān” by al-Jashshāsh is highly regarded by scholars of Islamic jurisprudence, including subsequent commentators, both supportive and critical of it. “Aḥkām al-Qur’ān,” this is the title chosen by al-Jashshāsh for his work without the mention of the word “tafsir” like other exegesis books. Only 81 surahs are discussed, with the writing system following the order of the mushaf. The method of interpretation is predominantly bi al-ma’tsūr. Al-Jashshāsh seeks to incorporate the principles of his school of thought into the verses under discussion, expanding his interpretation beyond the main topic of the verse and appearing as a Hanafi legal book.
