Abstract

Evaluation of Land Capability and Direction of Land Use in the Yeh Ho Watershed Tabanan Regency Yeh Ho watershed is a type of continuous river with the characteristics of being able to flow water throughout the year and in its upstream there are still many seasonal cultivation activities and permanent buildings, this can trigger landslides and erosion due to varying slopes and heights. The purpose of this study was to determine the land capability class, land use directions and appropriate management actions so that the watershed function remains sustainable. The methods used are surveys and field observations, and laboratory analysis to measure the parameters of the physical and chemical properties of the soil. Land capability is determined based on the results of soil analysis in the field and laboratory, and the direction of land use is determined based on rainfall, slope and soil type. The results of the study were in the land capability class IIe, IIIe, IVe-s-g, VIe-g. From the results of direction of land use, that the Yeh Ho watershed can be directed to four types of land use, namely annual cultivation, protected areas, buffer areas, and seasonal cultivation because the score for calculating land use directions is in the range of 60-175. The recommended land use as management actions are annual crop cultivation (units 1, 5, 7, and 8), high density mixed gardens (units 2, 3, 11, and 12), high density mixed forest gardens (units 4, 9, and 10), area annual crop cultivation (units 6 and 13).

Abstract

Erosion Prediction and Planning of Soil Water Conservation at Yeh Ho Watershed in Tabanan Regency The actual problem in the Yeh Ho watershed is the use of land with steep slopes to steep slopes for the use of mixed gardens without conservation measures and poor land cover conditions. The objectives of this study are to predict the magnitude of actual erosion that occurs (A) in the Yeh Ho watershed and to plan soil and water conservation techniques on land units whose erosion exceeds the allowed erosion (Edp) in the Yeh Ho watershed in Tabanan Regency. The method used in this study is a survey/observation method that is taking data in the field and continued with soil analysis in the Soil Laboratory of the Faculty of Agriculture, Udayana University. The stages of the research were carried out in five stages of work, namely: (1) Determination of land units, (2) Field observations and soil sampling, (3) Laboratory analysis and data processing, (4) Erosion prediction using USLE (Universal Soil Loss Equation) method, (5) Determination of allowable erosion and soil and water conservation planning if the actual erosion exceeds the allowable erosion. The results showed that erosion that occurred in the Yeh Ho watershed was classified as very mild to mild at 0.06 to 34.89 tons/ha/yr. Very light erosion occurred inland units 1, 2, 5, 6, 7, 8, 10, and 13 with an area of ??11,096 ha with erosion that occurred in the range of 0.06 to 3,226 tons/ha/yr, mild erosion occurred inland units 3, 4,9,11, and 12 with an area of ??4,868 ha with erosion that occurred from 4.93 to 52.57 tons/ha/year. The land that requires conservation measures covers 1,717 ha from the area of ??the study area and the land that needs to be maintained is 11,096 ha. It is expected that the people in the Yeh Ho watershed in Tabanan Regency can pay attention to land management by maintaining and conserving so that the actual erosion that occurs does not exceed the allowable erosion.

Abstract

Dry land is land whose use for the development of agricultural commodities is limited, due to constraints on the availability of nutrients and water. The research objectives are: to identify the suitability of dry land for upland rice, corn and peanuts; identify limiting factors and improvement efforts to increase land productivity. The method used is a survey to determine the characteristics of the land in the field and to take soil samples that are analyzed in the laboratory. Determination of sample points based on the results of overlapping maps of soil types, land use maps, slope maps using QGIS 3.4, so that a homogeneous land unit map (SLH) is obtained, and 6 SLH is obtained as observation points. The results of field and laboratory data analysis were matched with the growing requirements for upland rice, corn and peanuts. The actual land suitability for upland rice, corn, and peanuts is classified as S2 (fairly suitable) to N (not suitable). The limiting factors are slope, erosion hazard, temperature, texture, rainfall, pH, N-total, P2O5, Cation Exchange Capacity, Base Saturation, availability of oxygen, and C-organic. Improvement efforts that must be done are making terraces, fertilizing urea, fertilizers containing phosphate, mulching using plant residues, giving organic matter, and improving drainage. After improving the limiting factors that can be improved, the potential land suitability classes for upland rice, corn and peanuts are S1 (very suitable), S2 (fairly suitable) and S3 (marginally appropriate).
